  1. So, with this year's Modular having been released, I wonder what what next years - 20th anniversary Modular - will be. What type of building do you expect? What businesses could be in it? Who's responsible for the design? We've had so many businesses over the past 19 years (see first page of this thread), so what is still missing and could be expected? For example, we are still missing a hospital and a supermarket; however, I doubt the 20th anniversary set would be a hospital. My dream would be if Jamie Berard (the godfather of Modulars), Mike Psiaki (my alltime favourite designer) and Francois Zapf (the designer of the Tudor Corner) worked together on this one. Jamie is most definitely involved, as he remains the creative lead of the Modular series. I think we can safely assume that it will be on at least 1,5 baseplates. The anniversary would be the perfect occasion to step up the game and finally include lighting in a Modular, but I doubt we will get it.
  2. An excellent midrange set, function-packed, dense, full of gears. My only complaint would be the poor playability, since the gear ratio for the bucket and arm operation seem pretty bad, you have to do some heavy knob-turning to work the functions. My go-to wheel loader in this size is still my trusty old 8853, which had excellent playability, the movements can be operated with very few knob rotations. Curious whether someone will come up with a mod improve the movement speed of arm and bucket.
  3. Fantastic model, fantastic write-ups on your progress. This is a joy to follow.
  4. Good to have you back, Grum. May you recover swiftly!
  5. It looks like two in that First picture, while it looks like one in the second picture. I'm pretty sure the second one was photoshopped. This is a really bad design decision for an official Set.
  6. They manage to recolour such a special piece for such an occasion, but still fail to replace visible blue 3L pins with black ones in the expensive 18+ sets...
  7. Fantastic looks, great functions and superb presentation! I especially like the parking brake here. You nailed the cab really well, and I especially like the obligatory cup in there, just like in City trucks ;)
  8. From all images available so far, it seems that the dark blue stripe is missing on the helmet. Lego, seriously?! The most iconic helmet in racing history and they just leave one of the two stripes off?!
  9. It's totally possible. @technicprojects ' MAN TGX dump truck (42098 alternate) has 1032 parts. My bet is that it will be in 1:21 scale, similar to 42078 and 42098, which raises the hopes of another great truck set, especially for alternates. In view of the total parts count, I think the FMX truck will be a dump truck, rather than a tractor unit with additional low loader trailer for the excavator.
  10. It's gorgeous. And you manage to capture this 80's retro vibe in spite of the modern parts.
  11. Such a fantastic build. First the awesome Camper - I love all the details inside, and the many functions. It's gorgeous! Then the U5000 Fire: Finally a Fire Unimog in 1:21 scale, what a great model! I already started with the chassis and am waiting for parts to arrive in order to continue the build, but I'm always amazed by the efficiency and density of your builds. The chassis is Lego perfection.
  12. So creative and fun! And "penguin release mechanism" has to be the coolest Technic function ever.
  13. Great range of sets. The truck is a nice nod to 5590 and 5571. My guess is that the camera was designed by Chris McVeigh - it's very similar to one of his cameras on his website: https://chrismcveigh.com/cm/building_guides_-_technology.html
  14. This would have been the perfect opportunity to revive the Technic Figures. After all, this is a Technic play set, the only thing missing here are Figures.. such a missed opportunity, dear TLG.
  15. So many functions in all of the new space sets! Finally something different. And the Kawasaki is quite faithful to the original, great design here. What a promising start!
  16. Love your alternates, keep it going, Milan. Also, regarding your signature: I always suspected Maynard was into Lego ;)
  17. To me, it's quite a good parts pack. Lots of new black mini panels, black shock absorbers, over 40 red friction half pins iirc, lots of Maccaroni pieces. I got one from the flea market for 10€ with box and instructions, so that was a no-brainer :)
  18. Great improvements! Also, your photos really show the horrible colour inconsistencies of this set, it's worse than I thought..
  19. The idea of operating both HOG and the tipper bed with the same knob is genius! It also looks great, great work!
  20. You literally pushed an axle through the palm of your hand?! Wow, Lego is more dangerous than I thought! Hope you recover quickly.
  21. The suspense! I hope you will make the deadline and come up with a fix for the steering modes!
  22. Really curious about the spaceship. According to price/piece count, it will have no C+, which is a plus for me. If they make this in LBG, blue and trans-yellow I might regain some respect for TLG ;)
