  1. Did Lego ever had a soul in the first place? The world was just much smaller in the 80s and 90s and licensing is much bigger nowadays. At least from my perception.
  2. Hey, that is unfair! That is exactly what you criticized me for doing. How is this different from my opinion on the smart brick without me trying it out? Anyway, time to move on from that smart brick thingy. At this point I don't even want to spend one thought about it anymore
  3. Yeah, you are right! It makes no sense to measure the average play time when one kid playes for hours with the smart brick and 100 kids play for one minute with the smart brick until they find it boring Maybe I don't understand kids at all, but I can not imagine one kid playing the cantina sound more than a couple times Or babbling minifigs? Even Light & Sound back in the day was better in that regard. It is far more logical and true to life to have a construction site on the road that is secured by beams with blinking lights or a fire truck to make continuous lights and sound.
  4. Yep, that's something I really really would like to know. How many minutes do random kids play with the smart brick on average? How often will they play the cantina sounds for example? Do parents think the brick is worth it compared to a set of the same price with double the amount of bricks and pieces when they know the kid will only play with the smart brick X (see question no 1) minutes? Do parents think the smart brick is a better toy compared to a regular set of the same price with double the amount of bricks and pieces? I would like to read a paper about this.
  5. That's actually what I hate most abot the Smart Brick. All those influencers and youtubers who buy the sets just to make content. They know beforehand the sets gonna suck. Why not keep your integrity and say "I am not going to support the Smart Brick and I won't buy any of the sets."? Yep, that's why.
  6. I am a simple man - I want to go into a shop and buy what I need Everything else is not worth the hassle. And since I can not buy from PAB anymore I doubt I could order some BDP set. Last year (I think it was summer) Lego changed the payment method I was using. For 17 orders in the past 3 years I could directly transfer the money from my bank account to Lego. This is not possible anymore since Lego outsourced the task to some dubious dept-collection company and my internal 'score' is not good enough or whatever the problem is. Despite the 17 orders that I of course fully payed in time. But maybe I am lucky because the dubious company has very bad ratings... So my PAB purchases fell off an cliff last year and I did not make an order ever since. I know I am just a strange single case though
  7. But why are there two in the first place? I can only think of an error that could not be corrected in time. Or is there something special about this hair piece?
  8. Hmmm, I don't know. Reminds me of the Indiana Jones plane attack set that came with two dual-molded hat/hear combos. I think these are mistakes because Lego usually is quite the penny-pincher
  9. Since none of this year's sets interests me so far I gave in and bought the U-Wing. Andor came with two heair pieces. Dedra's legs look horrible. Will use the plain dual molded ones instead.
  10. I wish they would do it but doubt it. Is the Black Pearl set carried more by being a good-looking sail ship or a POTC set? For a reddish brown Black Pearl I'd break my principle of not buying sets over €150 (Still not interested in the BDP shenanigans though ).
  11. Some figures from CMF series 29 leaked and one of them would make a fabulous pirate! Not sure about the hat though. But the hair/hat piece looks great.
  12. This strategy only works if customers let it work and act against what is best for them (purchase a good for the lowest possible price) and for the benefit of a multi-billion dollar company and the billionaires behind it. But it is already too late... The production cost of a small and simple* GWP must be, well, small. So throwing it after day-one buyers who pay the full RRP is like printing Danish krones But I understand I am in the minority. I love the LOTR minifigs but will never get one of them because I'd never buy a $500+ set and I am not interested in displaying sets anyways. Maybe I am lucky and one day in the future another torso shows up at PAB, like Pippin's from Rivendell I plan to binge The Rings of Power in preparation * For example, Fell Beast looked super simple to me. Like, they just took one old random table-scrap a designer built in minutes and made it a set.
  13. When can we expect the official reveal/images of the Creator pirate ship when it is releasing in June?
  14. From my observation there are indeed much more castle fans than pirates fans. Since Camilla's and Will's torsos are up at PAB, they will stay on the cheap end I guess. There's always much more buzz about castle minifigs. EDIT: I don't want to sound too negative of course. I love pirates and I wish the theme would be treated better by Lego!
  15. First I want to say, that I love the variety of bricks, pieces and colors we have today, but it is much harder, more time consuming and more expensive to build a good basic collection of pieces to build your own creations. When I was a kid I used the same bricks to build a castle and an aircraft carrier (that experience stuck with me ). If you buy just a few sets today you end up with many different pieces in many different colors and it can be challenging to build even some basic stuff like a house. Then we have a lot of 1x1 pieces nowadays. I mean A LOT. It is not a set for kids but I always think of Rivendell as an good example for 1x1 pieces. It has like 530 1x1 tiles alone! Then there are all the other 1x1 pieces in that set like plates, round plates and modified plates, flowers, etc. Lego knows people use the ppp as a metric to gauge a set's worth and inflating the piece count with 1x1 pieces is easy. And 1000 1x1 pieces cost basically nothing in production. I guess the weight of all pieces of a set would be a good additional metric but it is rarely every used. Maybe some youtubers mention the weight every now and then but that's about it. But the question is, does LEGO want people to take sets apart and build something new? I don't think so. For LEGO it is more profitable when people buy an expensive collectors item, build it once and then display it aka bury it on a shelf. Then buy a new set and repeat the process. Playing and moccing just disturbs the money-printing machine. Same for children -> see my first point.
  16. Camilla's and Will's torsos from the vending machine set are up at PAB now, as well as tan epaulettes.
  17. The sand green torso, skirt and wings of the figurehead are up at PAB now. There are also Elizabeth's, Will's and Gibbs's hair pieces and Cotton's bandana up for grabs. And there are three large hull pieces also at PAB. The 1x1 printed round tile/coin too. And a compass.
  18. The Hunt for Gollum is scheduled for release in December 2027. Prepare for playsets and battlepacks everyone! I mean, there is hope, right?
  19. Great job once again Love the red hussar. The minfigs you show in your previous post look great too! Especially the barbary pirates
  20. I hope so! Like with PotC, a new movie is my only hope for LotR playsets and battlepacks. It's depressing to see how Lego treats these themes (Lego Star Trek suffers the same fate.)
  21. All the years I really was under the impression that LotR is one of the world's best know IP, famous all around the world, up there with PotC, GoT, HP, Star Trek and others. But whenever small Lego sets are brought up people always talk it down. Maybe I was wrong and LotR is just a small niche thing after all I guess people are right, surely kids would have no idea what to do with a battlepack of orcs /s
  22. Oh wow, never thought we would get a ship this year! From BrickTab on reddit: 31387 Legendary Pirate Ship 1,074 pieces June release
