Marvel Superheroes 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
thebricksbear replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
I don't necessarily think you're wrong, but a lot of fans (not specific to lego) use pattern recognition to try to predict retail releases, and it's counter-intuitive... One of the fundamentals of advertising is doing *new* things, so a large mini-figure scale set, in one of Lego's most popular themes is without precedent, and is probably more likely because of that, rather than less likely. -

Is the armory actually out? My local store said it doesn't come out til July, but lego.com says it's already out. I only ask because I haven't seen it anywhere and it hasn't hit bricklink. -

Thunderbolts is a team akin to 'Suicide Squad,' in that it's a villain-based team (or at least the most popular and recent version of it is). It's not going to be a team of female 'good guys,' or they wouldn't use the name Thunderbolts, which is specifically from 'Thunderbolt' Ross. It doesn't need to be a direct translation, of course, but again, if it wasn't the Thunderbolts, they wouldn't call it that. My guess is that it will focus on morally gray characters like US Agent, and the stinger between him and Valentina all but guarantees he'll be in it. -

Silver lining, if the build isnt amazing, I can save $250 and build a Sanctum MOC myself since so far there isnt a figure I'd even bricklink, other than Supreme Strange, and thats a maybe... -

I don't understand the hate honestly. It looks a lot more like Benedict Wong than this one that everyone is asking for does, and the 'fu manchu' has been pretty widely acknowledged as offensive for a long time now... I've always been kind of surprised this one even showed up in 2018. I don't know what people imagine for asian characters beyond skin tone- I think lego is doing a good job here without crossing the line (with Wong specifically, the Shang Chi line was a complete miss). -

Maybe the $500 isnt the Stark tower, maybe its "House Party Protocol" and will have a dozen or so different Iron Man suits. :P Honestly though, itd be cool to see a Lego BaLego-style CMF with just 12 different Iron Man suits. We've gotten most of the cool or named suits, but I think most people missed out on the space suit, underwater suit, Heartbreaker, etc... -

Is "Supreme Strange" in the Sanctum set referring to "Sinister Strange" or the Supreme Strange from the "flashback"? I believe the Dr. Strange from What If is also called Supreme Strange, but I think MoM calls the Strange without the goatee Supreme Strange as well. It would be cool to get all 4 Stranges from the movie. -

Best guess is this is a mashup of scenes at the Sanctum/related characters, so I wouldn't expect Infinity War Wanda. There are literally comments in the last two pages from several members saying this is probably both movies. Do you really care this much about an argument nobody remembers you even having? -

I mean other than the initial guesses around when people were really flying off the handle with MoM speculation, the whole thread is in pretty general agreement it'd be Infinity War scenes as well... I don't think anybody expected it to be Ebony-Maw level though. edit: What does "Stark" Spiderman mean? Is that the black spidey suit created with the Stark thing in FFH? If that's the case the minifig selection is EXTREMELY lame. Other than 2 new Stranges, all of the figs are reprints? -

I agree... it'd be great to get a new Iron Spider since the suit has been used in 4 movies now, but *barf* at the idea of another mk50. Honestly regarding the figures, unless the last one is Rintrah, it's not a really great selection. Marvel collectors will have Strange, Wong, America, and Wanda within the last 6 months. Dr. Strange variants seem cool, and I guess a new Mordo is fine, but it'd be great to see something special. A good, big Sanctum build should be awesome without the figures though. -

It does look like a pic is circulating with Whiplash Mk2's helmet on, which is a relief, because otherwise the fig is pretty rough. The printing on it is pretty interesting but looks good, honestly! -

I guess Im a lone in this but the new helmets look super cartoony, I'm not a fan... I was debating just bricklinking the few new figures anyway due to the price, but Whiplash looks so bad I may skip it altogether :( Does he even come with a Mk2 helmet? -

Well thats heartbreaking... I'd be happy with any of those figures (other than Mantis, which is basically a reprint) being released in a cheaper set. It'd be great to see Kraglin or a Yondu reprint for those of us that missed him. -

Pretty sure this rumor originated on a troll "leaker" IG page that I wont dignify by naming. No idea why it suddenly has traction. -

Are there any good SHIELD troops? The only one Ive found is from a random Ultinate Spiderman set, and it was a single figure so hunting them down wont be cheap. -

The number of people taking it seriously is kind of funny The fact that Lego would include a plain megablocks taco in the set is reason enough This is the company that wouldn't even put the meme rat in the Endgame set... -

My take on it is that the designer wasn't necessarily even talking about minifigs, which AshnFlash (and most of us) are focused on anyway. Mechs are a great larger toy/collectible, there's no disputing that. -

I'm most curious about She-Hulk. I never picked up the Red vs Green Hulk/SheHulk set, but I imagine if there's going to be a set with both Abomination and Hulk, it'd be something similar. If lego is truly moving towards Thanos-style big figs with removable heads, I feel like something like this is less likely. I just can't imagine all of the new pieces that would be required for those two figs (hair for hulk, ears for Abomination) to appear in one set. The cost of the set would make it too expensive. Ms Marvel, on the other hand, seems like a great candidate for a new set. It's marketed towards kids, and could easily get away with an energy pack and maybe a few new trans-purple pieces. The CMF was ideal because at it's simplest, everyone is buying the "Superhero" theme sets for the minifigs. The sets, though, are far more profitable for lego, and with some evidence that D+ sets will sell, I would imagine these shows would be better candidates for sets than another CMF. Hawkeye wasn't included on your list, but is a dead ringer for a car chase set. -

I honestly was a little annoyed Spidey and IM were being hammered into this set until the idea of a new Iron Spider. Just praying its not yet another IM mk 85. If we're thinking fall has another Infinity Saga wave, what are everyone's picks/predictions? Here's some ideas of mine now that the Whiplash set is announced: Thor vs Destroyer, with Thor, Sif, and Loki Rainbow Bridge, with Heimdall, Thor, Dark Elf and Malekith Kamar Taj, with Dr. Strange, Kaecilius, Ancient One Hydra Base/Rescue, with 40's Cap, Dum Dum Dugan, Bucky Ego's Ship, with Star Lord, Ego, Mantis Ravager Ship, with Star Lord, Kraglin Waterfall Fight, with Tchalla, Mbaku, Killmonger Yon-Rogg's Ship, with Cap Marvel, Yon Rogg, Minerva Collector's Museum, with the Collector, Carina, Howard the Duck, Cosmo -

A $500 helicarrier would be a really cool alternative to the Tower, with the drawback being there was already a smaller D2C. I wish I was more hyped on the tower. It will probably be a really good build and look cool, but I just dont see a lot of reason to buy it unless youre a diehard Lego or Marvel fan, and havent been collecting Lego Marvel sets the last few years. -

If Lego has taught me anything, it's not going to be Rintrah, simply because Rintrah would be awesome. Then again, having an exclusive figure (with a new mold?!) would make this set a "must have" for a lot of people.
