  1. Always the way. Odd though - perhaps it's a stock level thing?
  2. Latest TRU email has 30% off the public transport set. Now 129.99 if you buy online - save $40.
  3. Oh, I *love* that customised Crumpler! That's awesome! And that Mars Exploration Rover was the first Technic set I bought when I started buying Lego again - though only because it was $60 at Toy Kingdom, back when they used to have great prices on discontinued Lego. One of my fave Technic sets though!

  4. I bought my Greengrocer modular building from them earlier in the year. At that time they had the best price including shipping for a new set and had lovely customer service. Would recommend them also.
  5. Can't remember exactly, either that or 220 - go through checkout until the second last step and it'll take off the VAT. Mine ex-VAT was 175 euro. 20 euro for UPS shipping (only option). City Advent on Fishpond at $26ish aud - supposedly to ship out Monday for free if anyone wants to take a risk...
  6. Yikes, we're all so bad for each other! The one good thing about aus rrp is that I really bought less stuff as bargains were few and far between in store here. Since I discovered O/S amazon and the stronger Aussie dollar I've spend much more money this year than I ever have before. Granted I earn more money compared to before and a fair bit of what I spent this year was on old retired sets that I won't have to do again (see - my justification :P), but I really hope in one way TLG don't release a lot of great sets next year! On a more relevant note, my Imperial Shuttle has been shipped (via UPS, delivery estimate 9 Dec) now just to wait and see how long it takes! Also, the large Bricklink order I was waiting on *finally* arrived yesterday (2nd Dec) - after being sent on 24th October. I ordered from ChromeBricks - they are mostly modded brick sellers but also sell a select number of larger sets. Worth a look as they have up to 20-30kg shipped for 33eur (including 11 euro insurance) - but note the very long shipping time. Outer box was also wet when it arrived but the real boxes were in Lego boxes inside and were fine. Not a bad option if you're a patient person as the prices were decent - not much more than US rrp - the VW combi was actually cheaper than us rrrp.
  7. A question about the UCS Imperial Shuttle: has anyone been able to get it here for <$290 including shipping - in a way that's still available? Looking at using a mail forwarder, though the box length/cubic size seems a bit too big for shopusa (rats – would be $50usd o/wise) so may have to use shipito (~70 usd). Does anyone know if they take the boxes out of the amazon boxes and put them in smaller ones? Anyone have any tips? Apologies to those who may have seen this on another forum already - looking to seal the deal today so hoping for an answer today :) Edited: Ordered from Amazon Italy - the only site that was sold by Amazon and would ship to Australia. 195 Euro express shipping included (no other option). Pretty satisfied with that, makes it around $200 below aus rrp of $450.
  8. Yeah, not as good a deal def. I picked mine up from Bricklink, was ~$180 delivered but would definitely have snapped up that DJs deal if I hadn't...
  9. Shopforme.com.au has Pet Shop modular as their daily blitz today (Thursday) for $229, 15% off rrp. Ps> There should be more girls advertised playing with Lego - seeing non-Duplo/Belville Lego commonly listed under 'Boys Toys' really ticks me off....
  10. Worth a shot I guess but looking at my order date it was nearly a month ago - wouldn't fancy my chances! Guess there's no postage fee for an email though! ;)
  11. LoL me too - I preyed on that for > a month waiting for a price drop and got it a couple of weeks ago. Still, $132aud delivered was okay value - exchange rate was better then
  12. Curses! *And the last of my resolve crumbles...*
  13. Of all sets... Mine was the Lego Viking ship! $55 aud for a Lego ship - one impulse buy at a post Xmas sale, and I'm still sucked in 7 years later...
  14. I'm pretty sure AQIS covers both customs and quarantine. Apparently there have been delays in Melbourne - like 2 weeks before processing and 2 weeks to process. I'm going to chase it up with AusPost. Wondering if it's because it's most likely a large package in size and may look like it's above the GST threshold... Btw the fireworks/tree comment was a joke - purely Lego shipment!
  15. Germany via DHL. Don't know how long it's been there. Aus RRP of the order is well above $1k but my cost was far enough under so I shouldn't be stiffed with GST - I've read of cases of AQIS requesting documentation of what you paid in aud for the goods, but obviously I haven't heard anything from them. Do you think it could be a problem with the fireworks and saplings I had them send in the same package?
  16. I have a question about Australian Quarantine - So apparently a Bricklink order of mine whose tracking was languishing in 'Being shipped to destination country' for a *month* is, after an inquiry by the seller to DHL, actually in Australian Quarantine! As I've never had this occur with a Lego order (all of the items are NISB) I was wondering if anyone has had this happen to them before, and if so, what the deal with it is? Namely, how long is it stuck there and what are the implicAtions of having your Lego pass through Quarantine? Thanks!
  17. Thanks for that!
  18. Apologies if this is in the wrong forum area - I wasn't sure where to post it. I have a friend heading to NYC (actually there now) and was wondering if there is anything available at the Lego Store there that would be worth the effort of them going there and grabbing for me? I've done picture and video searches but they leave a bit to be desired (as well as taunting me with their shots of well-stocked carousels and large current sets too big to ask someone to slip into a suitcase!) - hence was wondering if anyone on here has been and can give some more info? I know they have the apple set and a couple of printed bricks as well as the two tee shirts but was wondering if there was anything else or if the tee shirts come in black as well as white? Any info is appreciated! Cheers :)
  19. Naw, the email I received stated in store and online. Though the 30% off coupon to use now in that email included the usual 'not applicable on items stating no discounts/coupons' - ie including pretty much all Lego. Technically it isn't Friday yet so the countrer may just not be working yet? I'd be very surprised if they give us 50% off a Lego set... They're pretty tight with those discounts now, perhaps after they were abused earlier in the year?
  20. It depends on your financial situation, but tbh after doing my calculations with respect to time and price, I decided that given my lack of available time (I'm lucky enough to find time to build my sets - my house currently looks like a toy store), it was worth the couple of extra 00s to just buy a used set on Bricklink - especially as a non-US buyer. I waited and kept and eye on prices and got both at reasonable (relative to the current market) prices. I figure if I 'get over Lego' I can sell them on at at least the same price, given of course that the AFOL market doesn't collapse! I think the thing to remember is that Lego is a collectible and in a collectible market the market value of things don't correlate with intrinsic value or rrp. Try finding a Shelby GT500 at original retail :P
  21. Pretty sure I've seen this issue covered elsewhere before in these forums. Heaps of 'collectible' set are now much more than original rrp - can you say UCS Millennium Falcon, Statue of Liberty, older Harry Potter stuff, older Star Wars UCS, older train - the list is endless! It isn't going to happen - like all the other arguments in other threads say - why reproduce an old set for a smaller market that takes away shelf space and buying options for sets that haven't been sold before and therefore have a much bigger market? TLG have re-released some sets in the past and from what I understand they haven't done that greatly. So, either save up and pay what it's going rate is, or just let it go man, just like I've let go of having the SoL sculpture set ;)
  22. LOL Are you for real?!
  23. @AussieJimbo - thanks for the info, looks like I'll be in for another week or so's wait... Will have to practise some patience lol Just curious - does anyone have any idea about whether or not you can claim for poor/damaged condition of goods if you've paid for insurance?
  24. Interesting, I'm in a similar position - Bricklink order from Germany shipped via DHL, though I ordered 4 large sets and it only cost 25 euro for shipping. I'm at the end of week three since it left Germany and haven't had any update in tracking. I actually emailed them to see about tracking in Aus and aside from giving me the number for here (dubious as to whether or not it will work - not showing any results on AusPost) they said it usually takes 11 business days to make the trip but to wait an extra week before asking the seller to lodge a complaint or whatever. Anywho, I'm really hoping my parcel arrives in better condition than yours, as I may have to move one set on... :S
  25. It's much easier for you to name a price than for us to try and guess what you're after!
