  1. Great job! Love all the whimsy and the design.
  2. [MOC] Wayne Manor + Batcave PHASE 5 — Batman's Trophy Room (with Training Area) Work in Progress on Batman’s training area inside the Batcave. An array of weapons from Brick Arms. Custom printed LEGO minifigure targets that can move. Interactive and rotating training arena. Added Batman’s gadgets including different batarangs, grappling hook gun, and a bat-axe. Note: Yes, it is well understood in the comics that Batman does not use guns — but he does have a large collection of guns that are used for training.
  3. [MOC] Wayne Manor + Batcave PHASE 5 — Batman's Trophy Room We are starting to assemble the second level of the Batcave. It will be home to Batman's Trophy Room as well as a training area. The cases against the back wall contain the Suit of Sorrows, Thomas Wayne’s original bat costume, and the original Red Hood costume. There are additional displays of Batman's trophies in this area too. The other section against the wall is a chronological view of Batman's logos and suits since 1939. I will posted an updated photo of that area soon.
  4. [MOC] Wayne Manor + Batcave PHASE 5 — Batman's Trophy Room A few more examples of Batman's trophies that we have built out. LEGO MOC of more trophy displays kept in the Batcave. Kabuki Twins’ Masks, Robot Penguins, Diary of Dana Drye, Letter from Thomas Wayne, Giant 8-Ball, and Key to Gotham City. Judge Clay’s Gavel, Killer Croc’s Sharpest Tooth, Joker’s Card, and Two Face’s Coin. All trophies are being built and will occupy an area of the completed Batcave.
  5. [MOC] Wayne Manor + Batcave PHASE 5 — Batman's Trophy Room Hidden within the Batcave is Batman's Trophy Room where the caped crusader keeps objects, mementos, and reminders from past battles. These trophies have appeared in the comics, cartoons, and movies in various iterations over the last 80 years. We really wanted to include as much detail and accuracy in recreating the trophy room. This meant sourcing a lot of unique LEGO pieces and using a lot of creativity in the process. The trophy displays were built up and set aside until it was time to begin placing them in the Batcave.
  6. [MOC] Wayne Manor + Batcave PHASE 4 — Batcave Construction Begins First level is now 99.5% complete. All of the quions on the support structures are done. Lighting on the first level is in place. Started building out the second level where Batman's Trophy Room will be located. That is the next big phase of the project. We have been building the trophy displays at the same time as the other construction work. The walls and roof of the second level need to be higher than Batman's giant tyrannosaurus rex robot and other trophies on display. Also testing out lighting for the second level at the same time.
  7. [MOC] Wayne Manor + Batcave PHASE 4 — Batcave Construction Begins First floor is 99% complete. Began working on the second level. Needed to do a kitten stress test first.
  8. Minor detour to finish working on a LEGO MOC Bat-Tank. This is based on the LEGO Super Heroes 76055 Batman: Killer Croc Sewer Smash set. This was a major re-build of the Bat-Tank. Replaced battering ram with new front end. Added twin mini-guns and accent colored armor. Replaced original canopy and added defense counter measures. Added rotating 76mm cannon and ammunition storage. Completely redesigned rear end area and engine exhaust system.
  9. Nice work. This looks really good.
  10. Thanks! I figured that it would be interesting to show all the behind-the-scenes work vs. the finished project. Yes, every day has a little bit of iteration.
  11. [MOC] Wayne Manor + Batcave PHASE 4 — Batcave Construction Begins Most of the first level is now complete. Tested out the roof/floor sections and added lighting to the ceiling. Looked at multiple LED lighting options and eventually settled on some magnetic mounted versions. That allows charging and replacement without having to do too much reconstruction. Here is a view from the outside in a dark room with just the Batcave lights turned on. Really pleased how this came together after from trial and error. Continuing to put the finishing touches on this level.
  12. Customized minifigure and custom printed floating mask. Looks nearly identical to the comic books.
  13. [MOC] Wayne Manor + Batcave PHASE 4 — Batcave Construction Begins We have completed most of the internals of the first level of the Batcave. Installing the waterfall at the entrance to the cave. Removed the ramp and platform temporarily to create the flooded floor effect using tiles and explains why elements of the Batcave need to be elevated. Completed the support columns and still need to do all the quions from bottom to top. Added more caution tiles and a few other adjustments.
  14. [MOC] Wayne Manor + Batcave PHASE 4 — Batcave Construction Begins Working to finish more of the details for the first level of the Batcave. Added a tire storage area for vehicles and also added a refueling station. It's not like Batman or Alfred pull up to the local service shop, right? Continuing the design pattern of adding as much functional detail as possible. Signage, controls, and working parts whenever possible.
  15. Ok. Here's the latest iteration...
  16. Ok...what do you think of this? Starting with just an outline of Lincoln and will fill the rest in with lighter tiles.
  17. [MOC] Wayne Manor + Batcave PHASE 4 — Batcave Construction Begins Working on all the little details inside the Batcave. We are really going for verisimilitude -- a fancy way of saying having the appearance of being real. A small waterfall that comes out of the rock work. Every pipe leads to somewhere and can be turned on/off. Lots of dials and switches on machines. Warning signs and caution areas. It takes time, but the look and feel of everything is really important.
  18. It would be interesting to know how sales of DC vs. Star Wars vs. Harry Potter vs. Marvel vs. Whatever have been over the years. Are box office or other toy sales an indicator of market appeal for DC LEGO sets?
  19. Thanks! I might have to go back to the drawing board with this. Am I being too critical of my attempts above?
  20. Thanks! Yes, it was an un-fun moment after trying to get it to work for a while. As in life, it is very easy to over-engineering things. Thanks for the feedback! I've been making some design changes along the way. This project is becoming a lot of trial and error. ;-) [MOC] Wayne Manor + Batcave PHASE 4 — Batcave Construction Begins Now starting to work on the internals of the first level of the Batcave. Built an underground hydroelectric power plant that generates electricity from the waterfall. Beginning to fill in sections with greebling. Added a small waterfall and piping for power supply to a communications antenna array. Also added a power supply line to the rotating platform.
  21. Thanks everyone. I started with a custom printed version, but wanted to try and build something real. Then I built this smaller version, but it's just not the right size/scale that I'm looking for. So I went really big --- might need to go a different route.
  22. Hello, bonjour, and howdy... I need some help from the LEGO hive mind on a project that I've been working on. I am building a giant penny to go along with my LEGO MOC Batcave project. I just can't seem to get the mosaic design right. Here is what I am using: - 4 of the Round Corner 16 x 16 pieces. I would like to use - Medium Nougat Round 1 x 1 tiles for the penny surface - Reddish Brown Round 1 x 1 tiles for Lincoln's face As you can see --- this is rubbish. Can you help me design a good looking mosaic pattern?
  23. [MOC] Wayne Manor + Batcave PHASE 4 — Batcave Construction Begins Work in Progress on the lowest level of the Batcave. Installed the entry and exit ramp for the Batmobile that rotates. Progress in the extensive rock work. Area for waterfall is now in place. Working on the internals and greebling. Completely rethinking how the waterfall will work.
