Getting in the mood... for sorting!

Do you have a laptop that you can put in the sorting area? There's plenty of Total drama episodes(first 3 seasons plus number 4 should start showing up soon) on youtube. -
Getting in the mood... for sorting!
ACWWgal2011 replied to Dakar A's topic in General LEGO Discussion
As far as the major sorting for my current system with each component done at different times, i just jumped straight into the process. I never really put any thing special playing on TV or did anything special after the process. Honestly i actually LOVE the thrill of sorting out parts. I really miss the thrill I got from the major sorting progress. The most recent addition to the sorting family was 3 of the metal christmas containers on sale at dollar general. One is holding most of my plants and trees, another one for most of my modified 1X2 bricks plus about 4 "Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with Handles - Type 2", and the last one is holding the part of a pharoh's quest set i got in a used lego lot, some unsorted plates and tiles, and part of the treehouse i'm working on modifying. As far as current sorting work I've done lately, it's just a matter of putting parts straight into the right container and having a game plan on any BL orders i do. Hopefully we'll be able to get to some items that we have in storage soon and i know i have a small amount of lego pieces. Once those are cleaned, they'll be introduced into my sorting system. -
Worth a bit of a drive and £40?
ACWWgal2011 replied to Smrgol's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I vote no if you want actual lego pieces. It appears to be a ton of clone items and not much, if any, in the terms of lego expect for bricks and possibly plates. -
LDD 4.2.5 is out
ACWWgal2011 replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
i updated my LDD program earlier today but it already needs an update. There are many cool items but the minifigure section needs MAJOR work. There's jester caps and pants but nothing that really works for jester shirts. There's all sorts of neat hats yet not much to match them up to clothing wise. There's some of the collectible series 1 heads and a few accessories but there's no clothing for said figures. The short legs need to be near the long legs so it would be easier to make outfit combination. There needs be one area for animals clearly marked and same for minifigure accessories since it's getting to be a hassle to find what i need. And there really should be more clothing options. I'm building a minifigure crowd with a total so far as 43 complete figures, one nearly finished, and an additional 25 hats and i'm running out of shirt and hat combos that really match up properly. -

I just did a tally on the figures, i have a total of 303 including for junior figures. They sure can multiply fast. EDIT: had to correct the number. Forgot to add the ones from the troll fortress into my tally.

Found a bag of mixed lego bricks including 5 full figures plus one just missing legs at a kind of good wills store. After doing a little research on bricklink, i found out that for only 4 dollars, i was able to get the majority of the Troll mountain fortress set. All that appears to be missing is Troll Queen / Sorceress and a knight minifigures, the 2 troll figures, and a few minor pieces. I am thinking about rebuilding the set though when is a different question.

Taking into account a few different reasons, i'm trying to make a couple of the friend sets out of parts from my own collection. Only problem is that when i was reading the building instructions online, i need a total of 6 arch 1X5X4 pieces for the base and 2 more for the top section and i only have 4 of the arches. As far as the rest of the parts in the set, i either can use it parts from my collection with different colors or possibly make a few substations with other parts. I'm just stumped on the arches. I do not wish to take the bricklink or ebay path at the moment due to i'm shy on funds and want to eventually buy 2 lego series 6 minifigures off of bricklink. If it'll help anything, I can say I have various 1XN and 2XN bricks, tile, and plates available and upwards of 400+ 1X1 studs, at least 100 cones, and various modified 1X1 and 1X2 bricks available. I also have a pretty wide variety of other pieces. Thanks. EDIT: Here's an image of the part i'm talking about: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=2339

How much did the set cost?

does anyone know if the building instructions for the friends lines can be found online yet or even a LDD model? I haven't had any luck on the lego customer service instruction area or brickset. The 3065 Olivia's Treehouse set: http://brickset.com/detail/?Set=3065-1 catches my attention, but taking into account that i DON'T support this girl only line, i'd rather make it from parts from my collection. I would try and design something from scratch but i really need a base starting point b4 trying to recreate it and make a few minor alterations to make it minifigure friendly.

Personally i'm against the sets. I don't believe that girl sets have to girly colors and it's just wrong for lego to take the stereotypical girl aimed toy path when it's FAILED in the past. On top of that, i also am against them due to the fact of the polly pocket knock offs instead of REAL minifigures. 90% of the reason i'm still attracted to lego is due to the minifigures. I'm a female, i am not girly, and i hate lego doing this. at this point, the only way i'd get the sets is if the price is cheap enough on discount and i can modify it to for REAL minifigures. though taking into account of the overload of girly parts that don't even attract me that much, i'm much more likely to do the research and build my own designs out of normal colors that i actually like. I'm thinking about doing my own treehouse design.

There's the minifigure lots on ebay, plus some bundles of parts available also, and you can try your luck on bricklink. I think BL is a really good choice as far as ease of finding items. It'll take a little searching but there's some really good finds on bricklink at a great price

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 6 Discussion
ACWWgal2011 replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Does anyone know if an official release has been announced yet? I really want to go for 2 leprechauns and 2 skater girls(one of each for mom and me) off of bricklink -
It comes in 3 payment brackets as far as credit cards. 10 dollars a month, ? for 6 months, and 90 dollars a year. As far as the cards in stores, i've only seen 10 dollars a month. I really wanted to buy a month but after zipping through the freebie play so fast PLUS encountering the camera problems, I gave up on that dream. As far as unlocking codes, that sounds pretty fun. Build a bear ville does something on a bigger scale where u can bring BAB's to life online. If the LU sets were made and could of been anywhere as successful as BABV is, Lego would be rolling in dough.
-
I actually made it into the beta thing too. However by the time that the acceptance letter came in I had lost all interest in LU and i never officially did the beta testing
-
If i remember right from the time span i did play, there is some sort of category system in place. It works pretty well. As far as quests, it's the same case in Freebie mode w/ running out of quests fast. i have tried doing the building component in the game and i really don't like the controls. It was really tricky to set up pieces properly to try and build any sort of walls or to set up the pre-made stuff. I really wanted to like it but it was just annoying trying to fight with the issues. Personally as a lego product fan(I am no longer a real AFOL), i wanted to join to play a fun Online RPG game that was a bit harder then Toontown but still more of a kiddie type game that wasn't TO hard. I can see a ton of potential in LU but i think part of the problem could of been them taking so long to get the game out. I think all the times that they had to push back the release date(at least 3 times and pushing it back a total about 2.5 years from the first date giving) resulted in some people getting bored of waiting and as a result those people went to other games. Now that i think about it, that's mainly why i went to TT in the first place. I originally was really excited for Lego Universe but as a combined factor of the game release being pushed back and a cousin playing TT, i began playing on Toontown.
-
I'll be honest. Its no surprise to me since LU isn't very good IMHO. On free play it's actually worse then toontown in a lot of ways. Major issue i have is the lack of stuff to do. Including the time to download, it only took me about 3 hours to get to the end of what i can do on Freebie mode NOT including a few side quests. Yes i am aware of the P2P cards but i just can't justify a 10 dollar card when it took me such a short time to get through the Free Play mode. by my estimates, i could probably get through LU within a week with a membership. TT took me 2.5 months from donald dock training to getting the boss suit but i would want another month of membership if it wouldn't be for the trouble makers i've faced with buildings and HQ's. Another issue i had with the game was camera controls. I got turned around so many times while trying to move around areas that it wasn't even funny. I could see LU working with a cheaper membership plan and a better tech team though. it was pretty fun at times and it's kind of sad to see lego just flush all that cash down the toilet.

I'm having a minor issue with the lego digital designer program. Is there anyway to upgrade to the newest version while saving the old files on the current version? I really want to experiment with some building on the program but i want to have the latest version but i don't want to lose the house i'm building on a saved file on the program. I tried setting up an email on Lego.com customer service but when i click "Continue" it goes straight to a screen with the buttons that are usually there right after clicking "Send" but there's no "Thank you for contacting Lego customer service" function.

Help with identifying parts/sets!
ACWWgal2011 replied to WhiteFang's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Does anyone know if these parts are lego pieces or if they are clone bricks? I picked up a small group of mixed block and i can't find this item on bricklink. http://s622.photobucket.com/albums/tt309/AClover88/?action=view¤t=Capture.png -
How can i straighten out a 16X32 plate?
ACWWgal2011 replied to ACWWgal2011's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The v8 and peanut butter trick looks like it's working for me after all. I left it overnight and it's not as curved. Forgot to mention something about the odd pieces. There are studs on the half of the football shape and the rectangle attached to a rectangle has the part like the underside of a lego brick. -
While at a Good will type store, i scored a sandwich bag of a lego and megablok mix and there was a 16X32 plate taped to the outside of the bag. The problem is that there is a slight curve to it as a result of the taping. Not enough to really cause a major problem but enough to be annoying. I tried placing a jar of peanut butter(nearly full) on one short side and a can of unopened v8 on the other with the plate on the table(underside parallel to the counter) to see if it'd make any difference in the curve and it really made no difference at all. Also, does anyone know if there's any sort clone bricks that are of a chrome or shiny material or even if it's just a Lego part that i might of passed over? I found 4 very unusual pieces but couldn't locate them on the bricklink page. They are a shiny silver color. Shape is kind of like an oval cut in half the short way with a rectangle on the side with a perpendicular rectangle attached to that part. I had originally planned to upload an image online and post about it here but the plan fell though last second.
