  1. Either they are getting cheaper with the variety or store employees are walking off with the good stuff for their own bag(s) before the bags that are put out for the customers are packed.
  2. That seems to happen to the store i visit also. I picked out 3 bags on the last trip and i only got half of the green snake from a lego ninjago set. I got the completed technic mechinism but none of the part that makes the snake's head. After i got back from the mini vacation and did some research, i realized what the item was and that what i thought was a hero factory part in ANOTHER bag i had no interest in was most likely the snake head. I wonder if the store i went to is doing that also(the holding the figures on the side part). While i did get minifigure parts in the bags i've gotten(not all bags), there's nothing special about them. It's just a couple cheerleader heads, a couple caveman legs, a robin hood head, about 2 twirly mustache heads, hula girl head and legs, and a few other common things. I'll admit that the hula girl legs seem to work with the hoodie torso as a "one piece swimsuit under a hoodie" minifigure design(work in progress) but it's really nothing to write home about, so to speak. Have you tried using bricklink, ebay, or another site to find sets you're after for cheaper?
  3. It could be that someone is army building in your area or an ebay or BL member. Except for the evil dwarf(I have a small "army" of 5), i don't do that. And as far as the dwarfs, 3 or 4 were when they were in the discount lane with the rest of the figures selling very slowly
  4. Sounds more like a problem with the store then with the PAB bag program overall. The ones i've gotten at the store i go to have been filled well
  5. I got a half dozen bags total lately. Outside of the bricks and plates, i got some interesting parts including some lego minifigure parts and scorpians. Not in a rush for anymore though. i discovered a lego friends frying pan hiding in of the bags and except for the fact that i really love the thrill of finding lego minifigure parts and neat bits, i'd STOP buying bags. I'm on the side of hating the series and don't want any of those parts in my collection. I'm going to go some research and see if i can mail the item in a standard envelope. If so, i'll be looking into offloading it soon. and to the above poster, there's a minor error with one image. the 3 rubber circles aren't technic, those are wheels. As far as the brick pattern on the tan piece, it's a fairly new pattern. I saw it in the 7 dollar snake set with ninjago though it may be in more sets.
  6. I love checking the bin. The store allows to mix and match so out of the latest 6 containers i got, i got a lot of goodies. Out of those, i have 6 complete figures, 15 just missing legs, 2 headless torsos, a pair of head/hat duos, and left overs consiting of minifigure parts(head, hat, hair, torso, legs, and a stray buzzsaw) that don't work together. Whenever i do my bricklink order for the 2 serieds 7 figures i want, i'm planning on ordering supplies to start completing the figures.
  7. Your welcome. It seems like the figures show up a couple weeks or so after the UK so it's a waiting game. Though now is the question of how much longer the series will last. Seems like they are dropping in popularity lately. Series 5 arrived at a walmart near by(first and ONLY series at store)and they barely sold at full retail. Last time i checked on the packs, there was still 2 boxes left out of 5 that were put in the clearence area at $1 a piece. Whereabouts of the other 11 BOXES that were in the lego aisle are unknown. Went to the lego store 2 times in about 2 weeks(2 mini vacations) and the series 6 figures didn't move at all. Personally i'm really tired of the line. currently i'm planning on going for 2 figures(bunny suit guy and tennis player) but those are to go with the animal suit guys and tennis gal. I was orginally going to go for maybe a couple females but I decided to take a Plan B route. I decided that i'd rather put the money towards getting some parts to complete the figure parts i got from the Build a minifigure bin at the lego store instead.
  8. Looks like they are being released early. I heard that it was due for a May release but here's a brickset article with official information: http://www.brickset.com/news/article/?ID=2829
  9. I managed to find a roman solider at the lego store. Really cool figure.
  10. I decided to pack a large cup. i wish i could of squeezed in more but i due to the shoulder to shoulder crowd, i had to cut the packing short and resort to a partial stack/small part pack in method. Here's the haul: lime green brick 1x1 - 81 Dark gray 1X3 brick - 11 Green 1x3 brick - 10 1X2 tan log - 4 -- side note - all the little tan parts were jumbled in one section so i couldn't find very many Grill plate white 1X2 - 7 1X2 black brick - 4 1X2 blue brick - 8 1X2 lime green - 10 1X2 white brick - 15 1X2 trans black - 29 1X2 trans clear - 32 Dark gray corner brick - 3 -- side note - the 2X2 bricks AND corners were in 1 container so i couldn't dig up very many Lime green 1X4 - 3 Read 1X4 brick - 7 red 1X6 brick - 13 White 2x2 brick - 4 Red brick 2X2 - 2 Blue brick 2x2 - 1 Dark gray brick 2X2 - 11 Brown 2X2 brick - 9 brown 2x4 brick - 6 orange brick 2x4 - 2 yellow 2x4 brick - 2 white 2X4 - 1 yellow 2X8 brick - 1 Light gray 2x6 brick - 3 white 2X6 brick - 9 blue 2x6 brick - 10 Red 2x2 tile - 4 blue 1X8 tile - 8 green 1X4 - 23 red 2X4 plate - 1 lime green 1X4 plate - 1 tan 1X4 plate - 17 brown 1X2 plate -26 tan 1x2 - 4 Trans clear 1x2 - 1 4 X 7 car base - 3 wheels for car - 12 2x2x2 slope white - 8 ladder with clips on one end - 4 bar that can be attached to stud - 8 1x2/2x2 bracket white - 4 white Brick, Modified 1 x 2 with Handle - 2 Panel 1 x 2 x 1 - 2 2x2 white corner plate - 2 1x2 slope tan - 9 1x1 trans clear yellow round - 90 1x1 trans clear - 1 1x1 yellow trans square - 11 1x1 trans clear square - 1
  11. Couldn't resist them for a dollar a pack so i got 3 evil dwarfs, a royal guard, lizard man, and gladiator yesterday.
  12. Does Sterilite(product) sell items where you live? If you need a 3 drawer storage unit, you could try a price check on 3 drawer units. I'm seeing ones online that look pretty close in size to the lego one for about $15.
  13. In 2 days i'll get to go to the lego store and i may try my hand at packing another PAB cup. Not sure if it'll be a large or small but if i can get away with it, i'll pay for it on a separate transaction and take advantage of 5 dollars off with VIP(i'm about 14 dollars off from another 5 dollars off). I'm honestly saying that i don't know which since the brickbuildr.com inventory for the store hasn't been updated in about 5 months. However if the the inventory will be around the same as last time part wise(it seems to be that way from trip to trip), I'm most likely going for a small cup. If that is the case, i'll most likely do small items in the bottom ring area between the cup and bump, about a 3 stud deep layer of bricks with small bits squeezed in, the middle with mixed items, another 3 stud deep layer, and then whatever i can squeeze ontop of that. As far as cup packing, i heard the general rule of thumb is that the cup lid needs to be within about a half inch from the top of the cup. That's what i've done to date and i've had no problems.
  14. Couldn't resist the 1 dollar per series 5 pack discount at walmart. I scooped up 3 evil dwarfs, 1 royal guard, a lizard man, and a gladiator.
  15. I chose bunny suit guy as my favorite. I have the other 2 guys(Lizard man and gorilla suit) and i'm after him the most. Though i also want the merman king and tennis guy. I like series 1 the best. There are a lot of figures in that series that i could see working in a city and i love the city theme best. I chose yes for if i'm tired of collecting the figures since i'm REALLY getting burnt out on having to take 3-4 times a year and begin spend about 2 weeks trying to find figures for decent prices on bricklink. The only figures walmart around here got were series 5(16 boxes) and those things didn't sell many at full retail. Even though i saw them at a dollar a pack yesterday, the 5 boxes they had in clearance weren't moving. As far as the other 11 boxes, i'm pretty sure those were in the back with the rest of the stock since there was only room for 5. And i did get one graduate but that's it. i already got all the figures i wanted at full retail... I voted no on if i still enjoy the novelty and charm. It's really wearing off. At first they were really cool but after 6 series plus another one coming out by the 2 year mark, it's not exciting or fun anymore. I did go a little wild with series 5 collecting(collected a full series plus extra but NEVER planned it that way) but i only got 4 series 6 plus one extra. As far as series 7, put my vote in for the three i listed as ones on my buy list.
  16. Last time i went to the lego store, large are 15 a piece and small is 8 a piece.
  17. As far as the petitions, i hope that the sheer number of them plus all the posts will show lego that aiming products at girls in these weird stereotypical girl likes is NOT the proper way to go to getting girls into lego products. Just because someone is female doesn't mean that they love pinks and purples or love having their hair done or baking for example.
  18. I heard that lego is supposed to be holding a conference regarding a petition with 50K signatures. Does anyone know when the conference is supposed to be? I'm really hoping that the petitions will encourage lego to either get rid of the friends line or modify it. Not sure if it's the same petition or not but on change.org, there is one with 52,849 signatures.
  19. "I must admit that I've not really tried many methods. Perhaps you could enlighten me of your one if you've been through the same process?" I've tried a bunch of methods. Full collection in one container, general categories(minifigures, small parts, bricks/plates, etc), most of the collection with favorites on the side, full collection stored in one fashion(never got far with that one), etc. I went on Google hunt after Google hunt trying to find a method that'd work for me. I gave up after it was the same scenarios over and over again: By color, full collection stored in one way, all parts in a container, by color ONLY, etc. Here's the current method I'm using: I have a cart that i have parts in when i want to bring parts to a different room to build with. One drawer has misc items, one drawer is mostly assembled vehicles, one has a small amount of minifigures and a button box, one drawer contains mixed pieces, one of mixed bricks and plates, another one has vehicle parts, followed by a drawer w/ a container of minifigures, then the second to last drawer has a plastic lego containers(Lego racer and creator) that's housing small lego instructions along with a container with a few misc items with lego advent 2010 items near it, last drawer has a few small sets with instructions.a Container with more mixed bricks, plates, and a few stray pieces is on top along with a 2 tray tackle box sit on top. A couple hardware organizers tame a lot of smaller things. I also have a storage cabinet that holds lego collectable minifigures, a log cabin, small HP set, 2 or 3 bags of mixed lego pieces and a shoebox w/ mixed landscaping type pieces(due for reorganizing), and a couple of other built lego items.plus i have a green container that i'm using to hold 4 junior figures. And 1 sterelite container is holding onto 2XN plates larger then 2 long and another is for all the plates that are 4X4 or larger. Plus a larger tub holds bricks of any size that aren't in other containers. And i also have one large lego cup that i'm using for the 1X2 and 1X4 log pieces, another that's for 1XN pieces larger then 1X2, another that's for the slopes, and the last big one is for the inverted slopes The 2 tray tackle box i use for lego minifigures, some lego minifigure items, a few small animals, and a few non-lego items that i want to keep close at hand. I also got a couple boxes on sale at a craft store. One box is currently holding a bag of 1XN wall pieces. The second is currently holding magazines and a few instructions. I have a 1.2 quart container that is holding Ninjago items plus a few misc parts, a small lego PAB cup is holding the parts for a DJ table for the DJ mermaid i'm making(in route from BL), a small ziptop back holds some parts from the Brickmaster mini clone trooper(proper rubber tires are in route), and a Plano 3510 compartment box is holding the parts i'm planning on bringing on vacation. In it is enough small vehicle parts to make 3 cars, some misc parts, small amount of bricks and plates, a section is small MISC parts, and 2 sections are empty for a few minifigures. And i also have a small tub of Duplo that i sometimes build with.
  20. As a kid, the only "blind packaged" items i was into was pokemon cards but that only lasted a few years or so. And I think a few stores could use non-blindfolded lego figures honestly. Lego series 5 showed up last month as a near by walmart in the form of 16 BOXES and from what i saw, those figures barely moved at all. They vanished a few days or so after the last time i saw them but that was most likely the result of walmart taking them down to make room for 2012 stuff. Only problem is that the lego item section has remained half empty from sets NOT being put up for going on something like 2-3 WEEKS now. Target had a bunch of them and same with toys r us, selling status unknown. As far as what do I think of the number of themes? I really think it's to much. I do understand that different people have different likes but TO many themes seems to be an invite for having lots of sets on the discount isle as more sets keep getting sent to stores. As far as my likes? Even though i'm not an AFFOL anymore, i DO still have a desire for city, creator, cheap sets from other themes from time to time(Alien conquest impulse set for example), and just overall collecting minifigures.
  21. I managed to find one lego series 5 figure hiding in the trading card section. It was in the go go crazy bones container. I id'd it by feel to be the second royal guard i wanted. I also picked up lego 2257, ninjago starter set, on sale for 6.90.
  22. Have you tried experimenting with a few different sorting methods? You're scenario sounds a lot like was was happening to me when i first tried organizing my bricks. I tried a few different methods and the one i have is perfect for my needs.
  23. You could get plexi-glass sheets and make a custom case to go over the figures, those official display cases which are a little pricey, display boxes for other items, or if you have the funds there is also the curio cabinets/small display cabinets. I use the last one to display some small sets and my CMF figures and they've remained more or less dust free.
  24. At first i really didn't think much about it but then I began doing research. After a lot of research I found out about how many people loved the game and after i really thought about how I really love bringing one of my favorite minifigures to "life" online, i realized just how much it meant to me and others. The one thing that bothers me the most is not that it shut down but WHY. I've found 3 articles to date that all say the same thing. Lego Universe was shut down due to lack of earnings from the TARGET GROUP. That is a major league insult to the adults and teens that love(d) the game. It's like lego is trying to tell AFOLs and TFOLs that their money means NOTHING to the company. I'll be honest on something. After that finding I now know without a doubt that the ONLY major reason I, an EX-AFFOL, am still doing buisness with the lego company is due to the fact I love lego minifigures. How can lego just flush a wonderful, creative, nearly perfect Universe just because ONE "target group" isn't pulling in enough money?????
  25. Since i've posted this, i've been doing research on the figures i did get with the set and the ones i didn't. I wish that i did get all the figures with the set. Turns out that the 2 missing minifigures and the 2 trolls sell for an average off no less then 5.85 a piece on bricklink. As far as eBay, the 2 trolls, sorceress, and king all go for a nice chunk of change. Unless i get lucky and find said fugres at that good will store one day, there's no hope of me ever completing the set.
