The problem with the series is that the variety of figures in sets are getting kinda boring. And while there is a "plan" for 6 more series, plans can change. Even if 6 more are planned, unless the rate of release changes, that'd still mean only about 2 more years worth of figure releases and then the saga is over unless more would be planned after that. There are lego fans AND video game fans and if it comes down to lego CMF's or video games, video games will win some over way more then the figures. That's my case. I know that the figures opens a world of creativity, but after 7 series(less then 2 years), i'm completely bored of the series and definatly can't be the only one. The 3-4 series a year isn't fun anymore and there's pretty much no enjoyment from the figures i do have. If lego would of released the figures slower from the start(think 2 or 3 series a year instead of 3-4), i could see the series having a much better lasting power and i wouldn't be bored with it. Lego series 5 came and went in less then 3 months(at least 2-3 weeks it was in storage between full price and discount) at a walmart we go to and series 6 came and went so fast that i couldn't find any at 2 targets, a toys r us, 2 walmarts, and a B&N. I know i can use BL, which i did for the main, but when it came to finding an extra series 6 space girl, i wanted to go instore.

It was shut down due to lack of earnings from the "target group" which is normally just kids. Problem is that not just kids played. I'm 23(started playing shortly after the free mode was put into play) and i LOVED it. I'll admit i didn't do P2P but i had a legit reason. During the time it was in FP mode, i only had one span of time i wasnt tied up in exploring other games(never did P2P except toon town but the 3 month card i got was a gift). I wanted a LU card but we were about to take a rare out of state trip and it's my only chance to go to the lego store. I was going to put a one month card on my christmas list but i found out the site was being shut down. lego lost my respect right then and there. Out of all the online games i play(ed), it was the only game i really loved. I was able to be left ALONE and do stuff solo. I HATE group stuff online which is part of the reason i'm not going for another month of Toontown. However, there's only 1 thing about the new lego MMO game that makes no sense to me. The articles i'm seeing say the major MF focus will come from the CMF line. Why is the major focus on the CMF's????? It's a pretty big gamble when the series could be meeting it's end anytime now. Seems like it'd be better to do OVERALL minifigures. I would be WAY more excited to be able to remake my lego figure i used in LU. I designed a lego girl that on the outside looked like a plain jane but on the inside wasn't afraid to take charge and kick some bad guy back ends!

i HATE it. I"m sick of the girls always getting lipstick and almost always hour glass figures. The hour glass torsos don't look that good. One of the reasons i passed on the car/caravan set is the female torso looks so skinny. It's hard finding good heads that work for minifigures w/o using the exact same ones over and over again.

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion
ACWWgal2011 replied to Piranha's topic in Special LEGO Themes
*checks out online info about comic con* DO i think it could be announced then? Yes. Do i see it as a good idea? NO! Early release of photos would of meant lego staying ahead of other companies(apple AND nintendo included) in the terms of who gets the attention of people first when if comes to a potentially popular product. But now Nintendo got the upper hand in the competition in terms of people who are both lego fans AND nintendo video gamers and have to make choices of what to buy and what to pass on. They've got the 3DS XL coming up soon, the wii u due for a holiday release, and a cornacopia of games for both coming up and this all came up between e3 and ND. That's a lot of attention catching on nintendo's part. With the one 3DS XL announcement and STILL no Series 8 figures, i went from thinking about getting a few Series 8 to most likely passing on it. If there'd be a real series 8 photo, my chances of NOT passing on it could be a lot lower. EDIT: Correction, there is now a slitghtly higher chance of me getting any series 8. Just discovered what i'd get on a 3ds and an xl Gamestop trade in and i'm going to do a CL sell session so i'll wind up with money to spare. -
The 'Golden Age' of Lego, is it now?
ACWWgal2011 replied to Hey Joe's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The series is mainly a "succes" due to the new molds, but a failure as sets as a whole. Pretty much every love story i'm hearing is a result of new molds. Hair, animals, and kitchen stuff are the major items. Honestly if it wouldn't be for the fact the way the series was designed, i'd be after some of the sets also. And i don't want a drastic decrease in FFM's, just enough where it's not in tons of sets. And eliminating friends and instead getting some sort of more gendar neutral themes out there(like my city meets creator idea) would actually do the company some good. Instead of looking like a company taking the sterotypical design, they'd actually look like a company w/ orginal ideas that'd last for many years to come. -

Easy. Get rid of the friends set that's been nothing but a MAJOR controversy issue since b4 it was even released, get lego into rehab for the Flick Fire Missle addiction, have more females in the sets(the pitafull attempts atm DON'T count), and introduce stuff that both genders can enjoy(pet shops, cafe, or some sort of mall for example) w/o having to buy the expensive modular buildings. I'm thinking something like a city meets creator line could be a major winner. -
I think LOTR will have WAY more lasting power. Friends is nothing more then lego's sad attempt at getting the girl side when the way they did it is a major insult to some people. LOTR sets look way cooler, have way better parts, and i can see this line lasting for many years. Friends? If i'd have to take a guess will be on the discountinued rack by the time christmas ends.

The 'Golden Age' of Lego, is it now?

i believe the time frame i'm thinking of is the 80's and 90's. The time frame when there was all the awesome space, castle, and pirate stuff and best of all - NO FLICK FIRE MISSLE OVERLOAD. That's the stuff if i could have now, would blow nearly all my current lego sets out of the water. At first, i couldn't see why the 80's and 90's sets are items people here are often talking about(especially when finding childhood collections) and buying/wanting to buy the sets. Well, i did the research and i can see why. I'd be in the "want to buy these sets" side if it wouldn't be for the fact I already plan on getting a 3DS XL and don't have have the funds to spare. Maybe one day. IMO, we currently aren't in a golden age. The set quality is dropping, prices are jumping for no logical reason, and there are the problems going on with the superhero parts and the bricks in a monster fighter set along with the increase of missing/damaged parts in sets. -

I don't believe that is the correct list either. I get the fact that not everyone got series 1 & 2 and remakes are a good way to get them but i doubt lego would release half the series in reruns unless it was the last series. Honestly, unless something really strikes my interest and the list is real, there's a good chance i'm going to pass on the series. Only exception to that would be if the santa is decent enough where he'd look good in our christmas vilage we do. Though that would be a LONG stretch since i have about 4 santas including the showering santa PLUS the torso, pants, potential beards, and a head to make another if needed so i have a lot of options. -
The set and part quality combined with high set price tags and the 3DS XL announcement is enough to stop me almost completly at the moment to be honest. Almost as in if we go to the lego store, i may grab a couple grab bags since it's rare for use to go. It's not just the monster set with quality issues but also the superheros plus misc problems with other sets. Some sets are also lacking in the design depo with is another major stopping factor. The set factor is combined with the price factor. If i was paying a lot of a set with a good design, i'd have no problem with the price. But with stuff like the blue roadster where i payed $12 for the set when i wanted it for a set and not for a parts pack, it's a turnoff with the set requires a lot of work to make it lego minifigure compatible. And the XL is another factor though not as major since it's coming out only 2 months b4 my Birthday. However it's still a partial factor since i know that there are some video games that i love more then lego sets and an xl will be worth it. Sorry TLG, EB, and AFOL's but i'm not a one company girl and i have to make choices.
-
I was coming to this topic to post about the same thing. If this is what lego is turning into, the future of TLG isn't looking good.

The white ones with clear spots like in message 14 or the ones from the Topic creator? From what i've seen, the white w/ clear spots is the standard in stores but the last time i went to the lego store, i saw some packaged in small lego store bags(the ones you get when u check out a small order) but i think that's b/c they were out of the normal bags. I'm thinking the next time i go and if they have the bags, i may pick up a couple extra to put on the side to open on a later date. I'm really craving a grab bag opening right about now. Maybe lego will eventually open a store in the state i live in.

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion

Depends on who you ask. The posts on EB about the subject talk about the series lasting anywhere from at least 1 more series to upwards of 16 more series coming out. -

The way people are hearing, lego is introducing it as another "great" series when it's 50% rerun figures and some of the other figures depending on how the name is translated could mean anything such as the trader and female alien. And isn't lego famous for getting rid of famous series? Cafe Corner, Market street, cloud city(super popular in the bidding wars), older CMF's that barely lasted any time at all, many sets that ended b4 their time that are in high demand such as IJ and old SW sets, and old space sets. -

IMHO, i'd rather the company be honest then LIE to the customers. I talked to mom about it last night and we both agree if this is real, lego is trying to get the series shut down. -

but a proper santa should be a winter event, not a fall thing. And the series is getting hate for a legit reason. including the santa figure, half the figures listed are a been there done that thing. -

Thanks for the list but honestly, i think there's something wrong with the list posted online. Either lego has run out of ideas, the list was tampered with, or is fake. out of the figures listed, 7 have been in sets b4 in different ways and 1(the santa claus) is already an overdone figure. -
Suddenly losing all interest in a whole theme?
ACWWgal2011 replied to purpleparadox's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Does the CMF's count? If so I'd have to say the Collectible minifigure line is the case for me. I used to love the series but due to a couple reasons, i'm not interested in the series anymore. I do still get a few i'm really after since i still am a minifigure fan, but not as many as i'd get if i'd still love the series itself... if that makes any sense. For me, the novelty of them wore off after not even a year and a half. Between the problems finding them in stores or even online and the nearly all the figures i have don't work with themes i'm interested in or with things i build, i'm not interested in the theme as a whole However, i will say this though, I DO have regrets on not getting my hands on a zombie when i could find them. I don't get why that figure is so popular. The selling price on BL, not counting ones in superlots, seems to be at the 9+ dollar mark and it goes up FAST in the new price catagory. Yet the elf only seems to max out on the used price at 9 dollars with the mid $7 range being the norm and an average of the mid $8 range in the new. -
Same here.

I'm not wild about it either but my standpoint is from a "I don't see the hype in collectable figures anymore and i can't justify the price tag of 15 dollars for 3 figures and a few small builds" view and not a "it lessens the collectability" view -

i was hoping they'd announce b4 now so people could make plans. There's some people like me that not only are lego fans but are also video game fans and with e3 2012(the largest video game thing all year) literally 3 days away(starts on the 5th) and that is the major time some people make video game plans. With VG plans and lego plans on some peoples' budgets, the figure images could be make or break with the success of figures. For me, except for the fact that i know how little time the figures spend in stores and the issues w/ animal crossing city folk, i'd be postponing series 8 and 9(if that exists) plans in favor of animal crossing 3ds. -

Not really. If i get the information early, i could get a better idea of who tends to have what on bricklink, have plenty of time to decide exactly what i want, and figure out how much money i need to reserve for the paypal credit refill and how much to reserve for a game i might want to get whenever it comes out pending reviews. But with last moment it'd be a race to figure out exactly how much money i need to put on the side and which figures i want. -
In my case, i'm finding a lot of individual minifigures(mainly ones i make from parts online and certain CMF) and individual lego parts to be way more interesting then the sets that have been coming out lately. Plus lego minifigures take up way less space then lego sets and can easily be stored in a drawer.
