Heroica RPG - Quest #90: A Trip to the Circus
swils replied to Waterbrick Down's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Ignorant old man. Olmstyr brought us here because he believed in the idea of a peace between the Clans and the Kingdoms. He wanted to share trade and culture with your people. When the other clan leaders spoke of war, he begged for diplomacy. It's only now, after witnessing the soldiers of your lands butchering a city he loved, that he is ready to take up arms against you." -
Heroica RPG - Quest #90: A Trip to the Circus

"If you can look't the ruins of Imaestym right now'n tell me that the Orcs are the aggressors here, 'poised to strike', then yer just a delusional old man." -
Mixing some Mead with a bottle of Mulled Wine, Thormanil sips on the concoction prepares for the imminent confrontation. The scouting party, for it to be other heroes sounded only reasonable. Could Benji be with them? They'd fought alongside each other before. One side is going to come out on top, and the other will get obliterated in the aftermath. The Kingdoms struck first, so surely they were in the wrong here? We've been in Baltarok, trying to convince the clans to consider peaceful alternatives. We united them, at the very least. From what that soldier said, the Kingdoms never harbored the thought. They let old wounds fester and they struck first. They had no intention of ever reasoning with the Clans. He scratches Arx's head before standing up. "This is what we're here for. Bringing the Kingdoms to their knees, retribution for this slaughter, that's our job now. If we come across other heroes, and they don't stand aside..." he sighs, "Then we drop 'em, too."
-
"Well it ain't exactly what Olmstyr brought us here for, but at least your clans've united under a single banner again. Speaking of him, any word on Olmstyr and Tra'serral? Heck of a fall they had."
-
Arx hops from Thormanils shoulder and flies over the ledge, trying to locate the greenskins. "Arx! Where're you goin'? Get back here, we need to hurry up and get to Karstaal!" "Get in there without me, I've gotta wait for the li'l guy. Not leavin' him out here alone. I'll catch up with ya."
-
"Stay, my megablocks. Don't make me break through another barrier. Where's Karstaal?"
-
He tosses the compass to Dyric. "Let's get to that study."
-
Ignoring the conversation, Thormanil grabs the Compass, hoping it would direct him towards Karstaal.
-
Dazed, Thormanil picks himself up off the ground and helps Jaret to his feet. "Rude."
-
"I don't know anythin' about these Crimsons or why you hate 'em, Guts, but we can't just let Jaret get strangled t'death." Thormanil steps forward and pokes at the man in the cloak with his spear. "Hey! Put the man down. Now."

Well, like I said, if I was in any given QM's shoes, and I'd been asked, I'd probably say yes, feel free to reuse it. I would just appreciate them asking. On the other hand, you do raise valid points--it's not fair to those QM's who come up with fun, unique stuff to leave it rotting in the inventories of players who don't put it to good use on a regular basis. Like, uh, definitely not me with a mask or two, for instance.

Well aren't you sharp as a tack, Flipz... Guts did end up targeting Hound A, so the question becomes, did the AoE-clause refer to all AoE (even as the primary target of ravage), or just secondary damage from an AoE triggered against a different target? Assuming the primary damage went through, there'd only be Hound B left standing: Guts - Steal (n/a) Dyric - Damage (30/2 -3 = 12, so 7 hp remaining) Dyric - Lethal Crit Hit vs Hound B, who remains standing with 123 hp. So really, an autoroll would suffice and the battle would still basically be over, one enemy with 123 hp and only able to OHKO Dyric or Haldor, so they could reasonably be assumed to not target it during the auto-roll. End result mostly the same, but good catch nonetheless. As it's written in Scuba's inventory, Clippard's doesn't have a humanoid-only clause, though I don't have any knowledge of the original listing. --- In other news, I'm fairly glad to see that the party in 95 didn't manage to snag that Lucky Die this time around. I know it's entirely up to B&P, but honestly, I'd rather see the chance to win it be gone. When the party returns, some other lucky son of a gun has already come along and won the trinket. They had a chance and missed it. That's just my opinion, though. I have to ask, though, B&P -- You've got three items in that shop that were thought up (as far as I am aware) by other QM's: the die, the mask, and the quiver. I got the feeling from Sandy's post about the re-introduction of the die that you hadn't asked him beforehand if it was alright to offer that item. Makes me wonder if you asked Jeb about the mask&quiver, either. I don't know how protective any given QM is about their IP, but if I'd come up with something that offered a unique twist (read: the mask), I know that I would at least appreciate being asked if it was okay to reuse that item concept. I'd probably say yes, but who knows. I just got the impression that you didn't ask, is all. Maybe you did and I'm just being irrational/argumentative. Dunno, just a thought.

Thormanil repeats.

Thormanil readies an assault on Heavy A from the front row with the Shishkebab.
-
"Gotta agree with Olmstyr. We tried peace, and unless someone here's hidin' somethin' from us, that didn't work. It's time to knock some heads around. Dyric, I appreciate you sticking to the job." He turns to Olmstyr, "But if I find out that it was Baltarok that prompted this attack, I'll be less'n pleased."
-
Welp... buying Loaded Die!
-
Shouldering his weapons and following Olmstyr out of the hall, Thormanil turns, briefly. "Watch your back, Cinna. Things're about to get interestin'. I'll see you back at the Hall, hm?"
-
Thormanil reaches down and helps Guts to his feet, while Arx flutters over to Olmstyr, gripping his cloak and trying to pull the orc up. Aw, I actually would have used that last round to throw some gold at Dreyugr to have him use his essence on Guts. Party loyalty and all that jazz.
-
"Hey, creepy," as he nudges Dreyugr, "I think Guts was talkin' about you." Thormanil continues to attack the last Rioter.
-
Thormanil continues his attack on Rioter A.
-
"Someone might wanna Guts or Olmstyr back on their feet." Thormanil repeats.
-
I could have sworn I posted. Sorry! Thormanil returns to attacking Violent Rioter A.
-
Thormanil repeats.

Are those Rogue Mercenaries supposed to have a Drop: (All Gold stolen to this point), or is that just how enemies stealing gold works in general and I'm just ignorant of the fact? "So, uh, does this mean the little mage was right?" Thormanil attacks Violent Rioter A with his new Shishkebob from the front row.

"I still don't much like the big brute, but sure, let's try the elf if most of ya are convinced."
