Harry Potter 2021 - Rumors & Discussion
mirkwoodspiders replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Unlikely. It feels too early for it if the release really will be fall 2021 as rumored, and if they had planned on a reveal, I feel like they would have advertised it like they did the one for Star Wars. Also, if they did two big reveals, it might reduce the hype for both. That said, they could definitely surprise us, and I'd be pleasantly surprised if they revealed a big D2C for both Star Wars and HP. We'll see! -

Promobricks just published a story on LEGO Con today with the title "LEGO CON 2021: Presentation of the UCS Gunship is coming!" Are they off? They didn't guarantee it, but sounded pretty confident the Gunship will be the revealed set. -

I think you're exactly right. Between RLFM hints at more info on the Gunship "mid-summer", and the recent release of a lineup for LEGO CON teasing a "new set reveal" for Star Wars, you'd have to think it'd be something massive, and the Gunship fits the bill. I can't wait! -

I remember the SW AC in 2018 had a Cloud City build, which was followed by the Cloud City D2C that came a bit later. Is it possible the same thing is the case in this set, with the references to Gringott's and the Leaky Cauldron? I still don't think we'll get either of them for the D2C this year, but maybe 2022 will be a spectacular year with those two sets. The two tiles in the AC are a nice little bonus to something I was planning on getting anyways! Fingers crossed we get the D2C reveal at LEGO Con in about 3 weeks. If I'm not mistaken, that's the only 2021 HP set yet to be revealed. -

I get the frustration, but I think many people are assuming a) LEGO has to give us what we ask for, which they don't and never promised to do, and b) Mace Windu and a clone captain aren't what the majority of people voted for, which they might have been. We might never know. The Cody discussion is honestly getting a little tired. I personally don't care much about the character, but I hope LEGO does put him in a set soon, if only to get people to stop complaining about his absence on this forum! -

So, I posted the following comment back on April 20th, which may be the "source" to which people are referring when they say there's some doubt surrounding a fall UCS AT-AT: "So, @hawkeye7269 on Brickset is saying we shouldn't "buy into" rumors about a UCS AT-AT this fall. Promobricks confirmed this rumor as true awhile back, though. Any news on that front? I've definitely been buying into the rumor." I asked the person to clarify and never got a response. So, I think it may have just been them making things up, as that's the only time I've heard anyone dispute the AT-AT rumors. jedijacpenguin still has a price point of $800 and a 6,000+ piece count as confirmed, and I believe Promobricks said awhile back we "will" be getting a UCS AT-AT this year . Stonewars also feels confident this is the case, although I can't find the post in which they discussed it. All said, I think the AT-AT rumors are true and we'll be getting one later this year. Also, you are correct, we have never gotten three UCS sets in one year before, so another one in addition to the Gunship and AT-AT would be unprecedented, and honestly I don't think anyone would be able to afford all three (let alone the two already being released!). -

I think you could be right, and I really hope you're right. However, this might be an Occam's Razor situation where the simplest explanation is probably the best one. Parsing out the words in the rumored set name, there are definitely a number of possibilities, but I think the set will end up being well-recognized objects from Hogwarts Castle. LEGO will find a way to make it an interesting/cool set, but at this point I don't know that I will spend $250 on it. I'm ready to be surprised, though! -

How has everyone fared with picking up the new Star wars sets so far? Our store in OKC had plenty of the helmets and probe droid, but ran out of R2-D2 by about 2 in the afternoon today. A store employee told me they had 60 copies and sold them all within 4 hours. I ordered mine online and got an email saying it's back-ordered and might not get shipped for 60 days. Glad I got the order in at all... -

That's a good idea. I can envision it more for the neck than the leg joints, but both might work. It will be interesting to see how it's scaled, and what pieces they used to scale it initially. I'm really hoping it's minifigure scale. -

Nice. How legit is this guy? Did he include photos? $50 seems reasonable for Vader's Meditation Chamber, but I thought it would be more pricy than that. -

Usually, but it might be a little different this year. The rumored UCS AT-AT's rumored release date is November 26th (can't wait until this is confirmed as true or false), which might result in the release date for the UCS Gunship being something like August. Someone with better info can probably correct me, though. -

I hope this is the case. I've been reading isolated comments here and there that the 75313 UCS AT-AT isn't in the cards for this year, too. Hopefully they're wrong and we actually get this and more sets. -

Thanks for the info! If this is a legit leak, I wonder how soon the actual set will be revealed. I was thinking mid-to-late summer, but a leak this early might mean an early May reveal? -

Not exactly sure why, but the Shuttle pic floating around looks custom, not prelim or official. Just something about the way the pieces/characters are laid out looks off. With the exception of Poe's X-wing, every Star Wars ship currently on LEGO.com is angled with the front of the ship facing the left side of the screen, not the right as this picture has it. Also, when has LEGO ever had any sort of preliminary or official photos with shadows/reflections under the pieces as this photo has? It screams LDD. I might be wrong, but the entire thing looks fishy, like someone got a hold of all the leaked details, put together a good-looking MOC and now everyone thinks it's real. Just my $0.02. -

R2 looks great. Having already bought the 2012 model, though, I think this is a hard pass. What honestly might have pushed me to buy is if the lightsaber popped out with some sort of spring mechanism - I would not be able to stop playing with a feature like that. The leg function looks far better than the initial model, and the 50th anniversary brick is tempting, but with the UCS Gunship on the way and the (rumored but all-but-confirmed) UCS AT-AT, I will probably save my $$ for those two models. I'm happy for those that missed the 2012 model and won't have to pay an arm and a (third) leg to get a nice model of R2. -

So, the new UCS R2 looks great. I'm torn, since I have the 2012 model. If the 3rd leg function is improved, and all of the other features of the original are preserved/improved, it'll be hard to pass this up. I'm also excited to see if the lightsaber actually pops up, or if you have to remove it manually. When can we expect a full reveal? -

I'm fine with the releases this year. Not thrilled about some, excited about others. I just don't see any point in getting angry. LEGO can do what it wants; I'll buy the product or I won't and then get on with my life. I don't know that anger on this thread (or in general over these releases) will help anyone cope with anything. If people are angry, it's understandable, but I see that leaving people with unrealistic expectations in general and lingering bitterness over something largely out of their control. You know what I find interesting? Considering LEGO maps out their releases years in advance (correct me if I'm wrong about this), they likely had this year's releases in mind around the time they came out with the first new wave of HP sets in 2018. They must really have thought these sets would be a good idea, or just struggled to figure out interesting new products to release after a few years? -

Hard to say at this point. I'm leaning toward skipping and saving my $$ for other Star Wars or Ideas sets. As with everything, I'll wait until I see pictures. I don't think ruling something out entirely before you even see pictures is a good idea, personally. -

This would be great. I'll throw my hat in the ring and guess a large Hogwarts Express. I had a look at Jay's Brick Blog's post on the 20th anniversary figure reveal; he posted a pic of all the original HP sets, and one of the only ones in the bunch (apart from the ones already covered in the 20th anniversary line so far) large enough for a D2C would be Hogwarts Express. If they're sticking mostly with models based on the original sets, Hogwarts Express makes the most sense of them all at this point. I hope I'm wrong! -

Yep, pretty frustrating but if it makes the game the best it can be, I'm willing to wait a bit longer. At this point, I'm preparing myself for a fall 2022 release so as to prevent further disappointment.
