DC Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

Forgive me for prying, but what gives you the impression 2022 is going to be "ridiculously expensive"? That changes the budget for this year if it's true... I've seen limited rumors on next year's sets but can't recall anything that would break the bank. -

The $40 Tumbler looks fantastic. I think it may be the only case where I have looked at a large scale and small scale version of a set and thought the shape/details looked better on the smaller one. I'll be picking both of them up for sure. -

Yes, myself and everyone else who didn't want to pay stupid money on the aftermarket for the previous version. I've wanted this to be re-released for awhile, but I can understand owners of the previous version passing. I think the Tumbler and the figs both look great, and it'll be a great addition to the '89 version. -

Agreed. It looks large but considerably bland with the outside details. I highly doubt this is what the final model will look like. -

It's a fantastic display piece and a largely fun/interesting build. The only part I didn't enjoy (nor did my fingers) was placing all of the large plates together to form most of the outer shell. It's fun seeing it come together, but when you put all those plates together for the fourth time, you're a little tired of it. Otherwise, it's a joy to build and I think even more rewarding to display. There isn't a bad angle at which to view the behemoth in my opinion. -

Finally got my Gunship delivered. With the advertised delays for shipping in North America, 9 days isn't too shabby, in my mind. Can't wait to build it and give my thoughts. -

I honestly like the movie's design of the ship, I just didn't like the UCS LEGO design. The flat white portion on top should have been curved, and the scale of R4 in relation to the rest of the ship wasn't right. For me, UCS set appeal often comes down to accuracy, and Obi-Wan's starfighter doesn't have as much as I'd like. I'd have no problem buying it if they re-released it with some design updates to make it more accurate. In other words, my personal lack of desire to be the UCS Obi Wan's Starfighter has nothing to do with the fact that it's a prequel set... I like the ship, just not LEGO's take on it. -

Not a day 1 buy, but definitely one I'll be picking up at some point. Hedwig is gorgeous. The golden figs are great. I'd rather have had Gringott's, but if we get it eventually it's no big deal. I had no expectations for this Icons set and now I love it. Thanks to all the leakers for prepping us. Time to start getting excited for next year (oh so far away...)! -

I ordered the Gunship about 2 AM CST while on a work trip in KC (forgot to set my alarm, but of course, I remembered to check online stock when I woke up at 2 AM ). I was able to get the Gunship and Vader's meditation chamber with no trouble. Out of curiosity, I called the local LEGO store in KC later that afternoon - they were sold out of the Gunship and had only 25 to begin with. My local store in OKC was also sold out of the Gunship, but I don't know how many they had. All in all, it seems like lots of physical stores are selling out the Gunship, while online has a robust stock. -

https://9to5toys.com/2021/07/03/lego-star-wars-2021-fall-sets/ - it's a few paragraphs down. I'm not sure how reliable this site is, but that's the place I read about the rumor. -

I am wondering if it is minifig scale, since the current rumor is it will have the same or similar minifig lineup to last year's system-scale AT-AT. If that's the case, I would guess it'd have to be minifig scale, as most sets with figures simply for display only have one or two. Perhaps that would mean an interior as well? If I remember correctly, all other minifig scale UCS sets have at least three figures (Slave 1, Imperial Shuttle, Millennium Falcon), so maybe this will be minifig-scale UCS number four and follow suit. -

Per the designer interview recap on Brickfanatics: “[The designers] mentioned a few times in the interview that if fans want to see something specific, they should go to LEGO’s feedback website,” Bricks By Mind said. “So if you do want to see a Gringotts set, I recommend you do that… It sounds like the designers are open to making a Gringotts set, so if the fans want it too, [the LEGO Group] will actually make one.” This attitude comes across as rather naive. Gringott's has been on collector's minds ever since the new Diagon Alley was released (and even before that). The fact that fans have been asking about it since the release clearly points to interest in the set. How the designers seemingly don't see this is baffling. I wish they'd read forums like this one (maybe they do?) - the desire seems clear on here. I also wonder if there is something holding them back that we don't know about? -

Pretty much. I just think it has been awhile since we'd heard anything on it and some people (myself included) were wondering if it was still going to happen. I'm guessing a Black Friday release with the rumored mini ISD as the GWP. I wonder if it'll sell out as quickly as the Falcon did and will be unattainable for a number of months? -

Thank you! And yeah, definitely promising and exciting. It seems like it's been awhile since we've had anything leak-wise for this set. I was beginning to worry it might not be a thing at all. -

From what I understand, the AT-AT is rumored to have a late November release. Sometime around Black Friday would make a decent amount of sense, but we really don't know much at this point for release. November would make sense, as that would end up having left about 3 months between each of the large Star Wars releases: R2-D2 - 5/4 UCS Gunship - 8/1 UCS AT-AT - 11/? Whatever the case, if there is indeed a UCS AT-AT on the way this fall, it's a tremendous year for LEGO Star Wars. I know it's not even August, but I'm getting really intrigued as to what they have up their sleeves for the 2022 UCS/MBS sets. -

Yeah, I'd really like to see just how many votes each minifigure got, but I have a feeling we'll never know. Honestly, the two figs for which I voted were Mace and Yoda. Other than clones, they're the two I associate most with the Gunship, especially Yoda, the first character we see on the Gunship in AOTC. I hope for all the P2 Cody fans we get him eventually, but I agree with some on this thread it's a catch-22... if he's included, the set is too expensive for him, if he's not, then it's a poor choice to leave him out. -

I get the frustration, but your statement has a couple of assumptions that may or may not be fair: 1) that LEGO didn't consider people's opinions - I think the fact that there was a poll for both the set and the figures tells me LEGO considers our desires at least a little bit, and 2) that the minifigures included in the set aren't actually the ones most people requested. No one has any idea which figures got the most requests - how do we know said figures weren't Mace Windu and a Clone Trooper? Not saying they were, but most detractors of the set's minifigs seem to think, "I wanted ________ figures, and they aren't in it, so LEGO must not care", rather than, "____________ figures are in this set, so perhaps those are the figures that got the most votes." Just a thought. I think it's a gorgeous set and am really happy with the Mace figure, as he is my favorite character from the prequels. -

I was wondering about the bubble turrets as well. If you read the story about the teaser on Promobricks, they comment on the turrets saying they're hidden from sight in the photo but will be able to rotate in and out of the Gunship. So, no worries on that front it seems! -

I can't wait for the reveal tomorrow! These next 24 hours will be some of the slowest of the year. The silhouette teaser picture looks pretty good! I haven't heard anything about an accompanying GWP yet, has anyone else? -

Are there really people who have said that? I haven't seen any comments expressing this intent and I read this thread daily. Maybe I'm missing something, but it would seem the people who have said they voted for the Gunship but aren't buying are exceptions to the rule. I guess how long the set is on shelves will ultimately tell the tale - I'd say 2 years or more has to be considered a success. Even then, I consider 75181 UCS Y-Wing to be a fantastic set, but it only lasted about 1.5 years in LEGO stores. And yeah, I really hope discussion around the Gunship doesn't spiral into an us vs. them mentality. -

I voted for it and intend on buying it. My expectations are for a massive, aesthetically appealing display piece, an interesting build and a couple of minifigs. I hope it sells well, both so LEGO will be encouraged to do more polls in the future like the one that produced this set, and so they will seriously consider creating more prequel UCS sets in the future. -

A couple of thoughts on the Star Wars portion of LEGO CON: 1. I was underwhelmed by the set reveals, but not surprised. I'm guessing a decent chunk of people watching weren't aware of the Mandalorian set leaks and were excited/happy with the reveals. 2. That said, I think LEGO missed a perfect opportunity to reveal the UCS Gunship. Between the hype for the inaugural LEGO CON and the statement that the Gunship would be revealed mid-summer, why not do it now? The hype train was steam-rolling into the station for the Gunship, and LEGO diverted it to a few sets that are decent but likely lack the same wow-factor the Gunship would have had. Maybe it'll be a later reveal than we thought, like September? -
