  1. I didn't mean "you" as in "1gor who makes awesome MOCs", but as in "you, the EB community", who gets their knickers in a twist when TLG makes sets with "off colours" I'm sure someone has wicked plans for the black LAs ..
  2. CAT, Ferrari, and Harley Davidson are rather famous for whoring out their brand. I got CAT socks for pete's sake. TLG is paying ofr that for sure Why? Neither CAT, Ferrari or HD needs TLG. TLG needs them. Rather simple The HD "branding division" is probably bigger than the actual company by now Volvo is probably another matter If you're into the new C+ thing it's the big one. Probably not going to be outdone as long as C+ is around (And We all KNOW C+ have the longevity of ... what? The same as all the old systems? Bingo!)
  3. I don't think TLG looks at the parts count but only the final price Also, i've NEVER known the part count of any of the sets I've owned in my childhood as that number wasn't printed on the box
  4. Same argument could be made for the reason to re-colour the LA housings when a ton of the parts that should be yellow in this set are not
  5. They do, but it's kinda like the point (well 50%)
  6. Exactly! That's why i'm going to buy hundreds of them and throw the C+ plus in the thrash and get rich by selling ladders on the dark web ..
  7. And why should you? The Liebherr was way over the top with the price, but packed a fvckton of motors, hubs, large LAs and a very cool campaign to promote it This set got .... what? Edit : What this set got is a previous set's pricetag of 450EUR "You can fool a man once and ... you know the drill"
  8. Logic arguments do not work that way and the connection you're making is rather faulty. No reverse situation going on here, sorry Don't you go teasing our aussie members with that way too low discount price, bro
  9. Goddamn I hated that one! However, the 8868 is the blueprint for all my trucks and it's VERY hard to put an actual working steering wheel in that set But a fake one could be added with no problems and with very little extra costs. Why did TLG omit that back then? It was one of the most detailed and "true to life" sets so far
  10. Big man, hugz from everyone But you're not the only one that's disapointed.mate
  11. There have been plenty of Technic vehicles over the years that was a joy to turn, like 8860/5 But somehow steeering, suspension and engines have gotten worse over the last +25 years
  12. I have no knowledge of those parts, but if they have a better colour consistency than actual LEGO parts, TLG is in deep sh1te
  13. In place with a lot of slack (sounds like my poor military career)
  14. Well, there are also non-material reasons for making a purchase, ethics being one of them I'm not going to buy anything from China that's a LEGO knock-off
  15. Sure it's not, I just gave an explanation of the whole +18 thing Parts(price have always been bunk. It's better to look at what parts, not how many That said, fancy manuals also do cost a fvckton of money
  16. What has size got to with it? Did I mention that? Pneumatics do not suck for playing, if it did it would have been phased out years ago. It's comming up to a 40 year anniversary soon Handcranked LAs do for sure!
  17. So I don't overpay for the stuff I need. Pretty basic
  18. That image really shows that there were no reasons at all to re-colour the LAs when the idler gears used in the tracks are still tan (not to mention all the pins and axles)
  19. TLG is exploring a new untapped audience. LEGO is "cool" now, Lots of non-AFOLs are buying LEGO. Lots of people with lots of money. but also people who do not like to be seen carrying a toy home, hence the black boxes (which goes directly against TLG's green goal. Not many micro grams of coal(?) goes into a box, but time that with tens of millions - you got a serious problem) I guess it all started around the time "UCS" Porsche was released. Which also happens to be around the same time some of the key members left TLG. Key members that had help TLG survive the stupid shit that almost killed the company ("A firetruck needs to look like a firetruck, not like a goddamn pre-kindergarden toy from outer space"! (somewhat paraphrased by me)) It took TLG WAY too long to aknowledge the AFOL community (megabluck, Daniel Krentz was probably the first one and he got hired way back in 70's). Heck, Kjeld didn't even get it in 2004 (read the book "The Miracle in Billund") But it did not take TLG very long to pick up that there is a new segment buying LEGO. So the sales numbers must speak for themselves This is why we get "useless" very expensive Technic sets (they can be identified by the marketing, packaging and "coffee-table" instructions and very little to no cool Technic features Luckily there are still some hardcore nerds left at TLG, hence the new two truck
  20. Cool, I didn't know that. Thought that perhaps CAT had a patent on that But Liebherrs are white so that could only be a CAT anyway
