ASLUME (formerly Batman (DC Superheroes) 2024 - Rumors & Discussion)
hikouki replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
By any chance, would anyone know which of the Batman minifigs correspond to actual suits that Batman had in either the comic books, cartoons, or live action? I am trying to build a collection of Batman minifigs sans any Lego originals (i.e., homegrown Lego versions, etc). -

It seems there is a 'list' of Iron Man minifigs that do not seem to correspond with any of the suits from the lore? The minifig from 76263 (4+ set), for example. -
Sure, you just don't get what you don't. ROTFL

Exactly my point! Why did they leave it out at one point in the development? -
I don't think there is going to be panic with any SW set - that theme gets a steady stream of releases year after year so Lego can "undo" and "outdo" itself. Ditto, the Disney strategy seems to be evolving and at some point was "all over the place" at one point. The whole point with LOTR is that the theme was dead, then Lego revived it with Rivendell on the condition that it will sell well. Even at that, small sets are nowhere to be found so it was not resurrected to the same degree as when it was around. At this point, Lego can pull the plug anytime. It is a "high stakes" release so to speak. SW fans will be upset about the release but they will recover next year or the year after, but LOTR fans may not have anything to while about after.

Disney Properties 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
hikouki replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
It almost felt like Lego went "back and forth" with their ideas on how to create this set. The Ideas submission was for a Snow White and Seven Dwarves cottage. At one point, the rumor was for a "Snow White Cottage" without that reference to her companions and I think this was in the middle of all the bad publicity about the movie. Lego almost go-signalled the Ideas set, canceled it, then came out with this. I think the speculation that it will be based on the remake came from the fact that the release might coincide with the new movie, plus the fact that Lego made that clamshell (based on the Little Mermaid remake). I almost feel like that this whole time, Lego was trying to gauge the market situation and temper it with what Disney will allow them. They ended up where they began - the original cottage with the dwarves! LOL -
The level of worry about a recent much-anticipated set from an unrelated theme just shows how much anticipation and expectation there is for any LOTR set. ROTFL
-
They recently had the lioness, and isn’t that basically the same mould, just with a different color and prints? I agree that perhaps what they meant was the tiger print pattern itself will be different this time.

Brad-Dur will appeal to hardcore LOTR fans. No matter what, especially if they already have Orthanc, and/ or Rivendell. I agree, Rivendell has an appeal beyond just for LOTR fans. We badly need a Glinda minifig! -

My thinking is that Lego has a very short term memory and will skimp and pinch whenever they think they could. People have been so crazy about the Lion Knight's castle and every castle theme set before that. They probably think they could get away with a lousy job at the much-awaited Medieval square. Agree, Barad-dur will fail it is not made to the same detail and add-ons as Rivendell. They have had some flops in the Disney line and perhaps they see how a fully-kitted set like this will be received by fans. -

Someone on the LOTR forum posted that the budget cuts for the Medieval Town Square should worry us... He has a point. -
Lego going all-out on Rivendell, then doing a watered-down Barad-dur will be shooting themselves... I'm not saying they might not do it...
-
I wonder if Lego will sell the goat in PAB and if they will allow it to be a 'bestseller'.

But I thought the printing press has yet to be invented during this time period??? LOL Someone must have really bombed that survey and Lego really cut the budget for this very much awaited item. :( -

Was the village hit by famine? The villagers ate all the livestock? Only one goat left for milking? -
Bummer, I missed out on this one. I was at work and by 10AM it was all gone!

Agree with those points. But the Clamshell designer mentioned in an interview that they were featuring “the new” Little Mermaid which he eventually suggested will take the place of the original. I am not against featuring the remake. But fans will not buy large sets of a new movie because your audience are all still kids! LOL Someone made a good point in the LOTR forum that kids who used to buy the small LOTR sets years ago, are now adults with jobs and their own money to buy the larger sets that have some sentimental value to them. Case in point, you really can’t expect adult Little Mermaid fans to come buying products that feature the retelling that perhaps they haven’t quite ‘digested’ yet. Ditto Snow White remake. End of the day, I’m very happy that Lego has decided to feature the classic Snow White Disney movie. This is going to be a ‘Disney Rivendell’ of sorts. Clamshell was released during the 100th celebrations but without the 100th branding. Turned out to be a good decision after it ended being the flop that it was. LOL But I also agree with your point, and this could have been their crown jewel! But we don’t know what economic / strategic or political decisions Lego made that led them not to release this earlier. -

I wonder if Lego will have a designer video about this, and whether they will talk about the two submissions of hanswasyellofirst? Perhaps Lego went back and forth on whether to release this or not, and whether to tie this in with the movie remake or not. Then the ideas submissions just got canceled in between. -

Guys, I am pretty sure that a closed-back version of this will show up on Rebrickable within a day or two of release. LOL! Edit: Someone posted a photo in the comments section on reddit an actual photo of the back of the box. Not only is it open, it somehow looks incomplete on the back. Nonetheless, as I said above, someone will MOC this to have a complete back wall and roof! -

The danger with cheap sets is that it will only tend to feature one angle of a structure, or depict only one or two scenes, etc. Case in point, the whole idea of the small Up House was to feature the house itself with little details. This only makes sense if you are releasing several sets in a series to complete a minifig line or show several scenes. This Snow White set features an iconic location with multiple scene possibilities. (Again, I am making a comparison with the Rivendell set where they decided to feature the entire fellowship of the ring.) Great point about Prince Florian! Increasing the scene/ play possibilities by using an existing minifig! It is good to see that Lego is adapting. They are adapting their adult Disney strategy and not giving up, perhaps to recoup the expensive Disney license. I feel sorry for Lego that many have trolled that set everywhere. It is probably the only Disney minifig set that I did not buy. I could not care for it. But still, some comments on their web page were brutal. And I think the last few good reviews are sympathy reviews. LOL I wonder if that mirror may one day be made into a minifig or minifig part? -

I could not agree more with you on that! Perhaps this will be a set for another day? Wishful thinking! Smaller set = some people will complain. Larger set = some people will complain. I truly get you... there is value in making a smaller set for everyone. But justifying just perhaps the new face prints for seven new characters and a new beard will necessitate a large set to recoup their investment. Perhaps this is just the one set they will ever make of this fairy tale for quite some time. This set will probably be a set they will perhaps keep on the shelves for a while because of demand, and folks can perhaps save up for it if not buying on day 1. I am comparing this to Rivendell. So big. So expensive. So worth it. As said, perhaps this may be the only Snow White set we will be getting for quite some time, with its size and completeness. I totally get having several smaller sets in a series. Lego is probably also testing the waters - comparing the sales of this item (based on a classic) with the much-maligned clamshell (based on the modernized/ retelling of a classic.) Agree. I think they could have done it without the prince and just the witch. They could even have gotten away without the witch, too but I am not complaining! Perhaps the Evil Queen and Humbert the Huntsman will be in a future set. LOL! -
Is there an existing headpiece that could go with this torso and skirt to make it exactly like snegurochka? I could only think of the fur scarf and hat from the ice warrior CMF.
