Lego Batman 2 announced!
SoupOrFishOil replied to Professor Flitwick's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
Just going by the promotional images, hints, and conclustions, so I'm sure I'm wrong, I'm only going to have a little fun with this. It seems like Joker and Luthor team up, capture Wonder Woman, so Batman and Superman have to save her. I honestly hope it isn't that, since it's Batman and then DC Super Heroes, I think that we can assume that it's a Brave and the Bold stlye. I hope that it isn't just the justice league, and that they don't forget the Batman family. The sequel was hinted at the end of the first batman game though, so it's possible that Joker, Penguin, and Riddler break out of Arkham again and team up with Lex Luthor. I hope that there's an Old Save Data thing so that even if some characters who were in the first game don't appear, we could still have them for play (I'm thinking about Batgirl, Nightwing, and some villains like Mad Hatter and Man-Bat) -

I don't know about WW, but Riddler has been linked to. I don't think he was ever posted though... -

Agreed about Catwoman's whip, they could at least make it gray which I think is more fitting. And even though I hope that Riddler does have a special mold for his cane (even though an ornament on top of an existing staff would be nice, I'd think it would be too tall), I'd like to think that Mexico is more consitant than China, but that's still a great example. And even if Riddler does just end up with a pole, I'd still be happy that they at least recognized his staff. -

You're welcome. Though, honestly, LEGO is what first introduced me to most of the Batman characters (with exceptions like Robin, Batgirl, Ace, Penguin, Joker, Catwoman, and Riddler), so Black/White is how I think of Two-Face, but that probably does apply to most everyone else. I've gotten used to this colorscheme though, and I would strongly advise that you do NOT say purple and orange look badly together because: EDIT: Just found this, look at Batman's legs Hmmm.... -

Not really, it's just the lighting, you can see it better with this one: On another note, that alternate Joker face is creepy, but I like Catwoman's. And on another note, on the e-Bay picture it seems like the black Batman is holding a Heroica sword, which of course doesn't fit. What if there is a seperate mold for Riddler's staff and this just happens to be a mistaken accessory, like Batman's sword. -

He seems to live in Mexico, and they have just opened a new molding plant down there. I really like this new Riddler, and Two-Face is growing on me (but I still would prefer black/white). Nobody else has pointed this out yet, but Riddler is the first minifigure ever to have purple (medium lilac) hands! -

I also think that's the way they'd go, I mean even though I wouldn't expect a full wave (only three sets or so) I'd actually prefer that while the Batman part of the set would be based on TDKR (minifigure and vehicle), the villain wouldn't, that way we could get remakes of some villains (and other characters) who are currently not confirmed to appear (such as Scarecrow, Penguin, Nightwing, etc.). -

LEGO has the rights to the comic books, not the movies as they are not created by Disney or a company they own. And again, LEGO is not mentioned as to making a theme based on The Hobbit -

Ooh, I was right about MB going after the rights to the new Spider-man movie. Glad that there will be TDKR sets out in the Summer, even though it's supposedly too dark for LEGO's tastes. Even if it is darker than any movie that they've licensed to before, it's still only a PG-13 movie (rated so for violence and some mild language, not sexual content), I'd think it would be a surprise if they go higher than that. -

Test release type thing perhaps? See how one order sells then allow a restock for March or so if the first order was successful? -
LEGO Superheroes 2012 Rumours & Discussion

I've done some research on the possibility of another store exclusive set to include Harley and Riddler (LEGO never said antything about a Green Lantern set though, but I see no reason why he couldn't team up with Batman in this one), and I came up with this: First, in Australia, the prices for two Marvel sets are the same (the X-men/Loki ones). When we first recieved the pricing information for the DC sets from B&N, they all added up to about $227 (including the three Ultrabuild action figures). As most of us know, the official LEGO Super Heroes site claimed "an estimated retail value of $250". My point is that there's about another $20 in there, maybe even as much as $70 depending on whether or not LEGO considers the three ultrabuilds as part of the "DC Universe Collection", which I doubt because they are of a different toy range. Even though I see it costing as much as $70 (because that would be a good price point for Arkham Asylum), I could see it costing only $20 or $30 because of the (unfair) Australian prices for the two Marvel sets translating roughly to that price (in LEGO's reaoning) mentioned earlier. Still hoping for a decent sized Arkham though, and if you do the math, you might be able to come up with a price point for the Spider-man set, assuming that LEGO will do their best to keep the DC and Marvel ranges equal, because again, it's amazing that they could get WB and Disney together for the same theme, and I'm sure that if they'd want the license up for renewal, they'd do the best they could to keep one from 1-uping the other. You are thinking too much about DC sets and not enough about Marvel. Think about this; both the Avengers and Dark Knight Rises movies come out in the Summer at roughly the same time (I think). Now, we know for certain that the DC sets are going to be released first, right? So, if you post-pone the DC sets until the time we first heard about Marvel sets being released and push those even further back to the summertime where there are supposedly going to be a "collection of play-things centered around TDKR", you would push those back until October. Why doesn't that make sense? Because LEGO generally like to release sets based on a movie a few months before it's released (such as Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, PotC, etc.). So, even though the supposed TDKR sets would come out at roughly the same time as the movie, there would already be Batman sets out (we'd already be getting Batman, Bane, and Catwoman characters, not movie versions, but still them) and you'd be trading a realistic release date for Avengers sets to a slightly less realistic one. And in the case of TDKR, a slightly less realistic release date for an October-ish one which makes almost no sense at all from a marketing stand point, seeing as excitement for the movie would of died down by then. And I'm pretty sure LEGO is not trying to get their product out there for Christmas, because when that is their goal, they aim for an October/November release. -

Really, strange, that usually only happens with themes that recieve about this many sets in ONE wave, like Star Wars and Ninjago. However, I only made them to match the prices of the DC sets and I'm not promising anything, but think about it-do you think DC would be happy if Marvel sets were more popular (or vice versa). It is extraordinary that they could get the two together for a theme (even though I think it was less of a matter of what they wanted and more what WB and Disney wanted). So unless the exclusives others and I have predicted, a Marvel set with Spider-man and Doc Ock, and a DC set with Harley Quinn and The Riddler, are priced differently than each other and similarly to a set from their own subtheme, I don't see it happening, but stranger things have happened, like this theme for example. -
Never said it wasn't true, I was only wondering.

This has been up for a couple days, but Amazon.fr has listed the piece numbers for all the DC and Ultrabuild sets and most of the Marvel. They seem to be a pretty good deal, for American prices at least, assuming that Barnes & Nobles weren't below retail, which I don't think they are, they seem pretty realistic. Anyway: DC Universe 6858 Batman vs. Catwoman Price: $11.99 Piece Count: 89 6860 The Batcave Price: $69.99 Piece Count: 690 6862 Superman vs. Lex Luthor Price: $19.99 Piece Count: 207 6863 Batman vs. The Joker Price: $29.99 Piece Count: 278 6864 Batman vs. Two-Face Price: $49.99 Piece Count: 531 I don't know if we ever got the exact prices for Marvel, but I'm matching them to the DC ones because I imagine LEGO would want to keep the themes fairly equal. If I messed the prices up and we do have them, please let me know, because there is something strange about the prices of 6866 and 6867.... Marvel 6865 Captain America's Avenging Cycle Price: $11.99 Piece Count: Not Available on Amazon.fr 6866 Wolverine Chopper Showdown Price: $19.99 Piece Count: 201 6867 Loki's Cosmic Cube Escape Price: $29.99 Piece Count: 181 6868 Hulk's Helicarrier Breakout Price: $49.99 Piece Count: 389 6867 Quinjet Aerial Battle Price: $69.99 Piece Count: 735 Again, we I don't think we ever got exact prices for the three Marvel sets, so I'm matching them to the DC ones. Ultrabuild 4526 Batman Price: $14.99 Piece Count: 40 4527 The Joker Price: $14.99 Piece Count: 57 4528 Green Lantern Price: $14.99 Piece Count: 38 4529 Iron Man Price: $14.99 Piece Count: 44 4530 Hulk Price: $14.99 Piece Count: 39 4597 Captain America Price: $14.99 Piece Count: 44 -
I really like The Joker's "Present". A have to ask though, in saying that The Penguin is the most brilliant criminal, are you perhaps trying to "butter him up" That's okay, great job!

Probably just because LEGO minifigures are naturally blocky and whenvever they try to make them look small they seem strange. Going by the prints, the original Catwoman minifigure's arms didn't even attach to her shoulder -

Probably right about that, seeing as two of the three female minifigures we've seen so far, Wonder Woman and Poison Ivy, are prisoners waiting to be rescued by "a big strong man" . I'd think the only reason Catwoman isn't in that situation is because A)She is more popular than the both of them B)Kids who haven't seen the movies/cartoons/comicbooks or only like Batman for being a superhero and really don't get the stories probably take her even more seriously than the Joker. C) It would be harder to fit Catwoman into a larger set, and the sets that we do have aren't very heavy on the minifigures. D) I'm unsure of her role in The Dark Knight Rises, but it could easily be as an independent and strong woman E) DC insisted on it, which could be because of (D) I do think that we might have a chance at Batgirl though, she'd probably be the perfect damsel for Batman, but I wouldn't expect her until they're stuck for new minifigures and are already repeating popular villians (such as Joker and Two-Face). -

That's what the press releases said, so that's what I think, but we can't be sure. Sure that those jokes aren't the reason she's so famous? If anything, I'd think Supergirl and Batgirl who may not be as famous, are more popular. -

89 pieces for a $12 is actually pretty good (I don't know about pounds though), considering the license fees and exclusive Catwoman minifigure. We aren't exactly sure what the release date is, LEGO said January, but the French Retailers' Catalouge said May. Probably purple, seeing as that would fit both her minifigures' colorshemes. -

Which was somewhat my point, I want classic style. And I never said I didn't want an Iceberg Lounge, I just said I'd like to get a Penguin figure somewhere else. I'd buy his club anyway, I was only saying that the classic depiction of the character opens up other possibilities to get him. -

Navy Blue and orange might suit him, seeing as they're opposites on the color wheel, but I'm pretty sure that's purple in the set. Now if it was blue and not purple, I'd be fine. But I suppose my main gripe isn't the colors not suiting him, I'd think opposites would, but in the picture we do have, the purple half looks like a suit, but the orange half looks like a jump-suit . I'll probably get over it, but I really would prefer Black and White. Though, I suppose if they're going with classic takes on characters, we could at least get Penguin in a set other than "Ice-Berg Lounge" which I don' see happening.
