In addition to the RC Batmobile someone mentioned, a couple of the 2013 sets were very loosely inspired by Arkham--well, the one set and a Mr. Freeze minifigure--but the accuracy isn't great. Mr. Freeze doesn't have goggles, and the Arkham facade is really just a passing resemblance to the Asylum in the first game. I don't think it's likely to happen because, beloved as they are, these are video games and Lego is still pretty selective. The Arkham series also isn't exactly what it was 10 years ago. A high budget sequel of sorts releasing this year would make this the reasonable time to do it, but that flopped and the future of the developer is in question. But if BTAS and Ocarina of Time can get sets after 30/25+ years, who knows, maybe someday there will be an Arkham Brickhead or a Batman bust or something. :P

I still need to see a bit more of this show before I'm sold, but I'm very happy to see Catwoman in her classic purple and green costume. That's a very underrated design which has been forgotten in a lot of modern versions. I'd love to get a minifigure version some day, but I don't expect this show to get sets.

Disney Properties 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
SoupOrFishOil replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Very strange. That set was amazing. Versus something like the Sorting Hat which was also in the survey. -
Yeah, Batgirl is an original design. She has the classic batlogo to match Batman and Lego's favorite wig to save money. I think she might have the short cape without scallops too? Weird. And the Kryptonite. Uh, a reference to Superman is better than absolutely no Superman at all ever? Maybe? I don't hate it too much. The LURPs are better than some of the panels the Juniors sets use and there is a good spread of stuff for little kids. (Unlike that overpriced 4+ Batmobile from last year.) The tile on Joker's car is fun too. That has some reuse potential.

Sonic the Hedgehog - Rumours and Discussion
SoupOrFishOil replied to Classic_Spaceman's topic in LEGO Licensed
Lol, that emerald shrine not including the emerald is kind of hilarious. The sets look good. I like the Badniks. But these are expensive. Tails's new expression being identical to the winking Sonic from last year is bizarre. edit: There's a photo of Shadow and Maria in the large set. That's a wild thing to reference. -
Azrael and Oracle for the Bat-family. We did get Barbara as Batgirl, but if we got Tim Drake as Robin and Red Robin is here I think it's fair. I also think Speedy/Red Arrow doesn't count as someone we got, since he was an SDCC exclusive. Martian Manhunter isn't listed, but Miss Martian I think is better known and more used than a number of characters who are on the list. Not holding my breath for most of these, even with the current state of the theme, a lot of these characters are pretty insignificant. (Lagoon Boy and Aquagirl?) I am sad we never saw a Kid Flash during the heyday of this theme though. A lot of characters can be convincingly made as purist customs, but not him.

Wizarding World 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

I thought the usual place was r/legoleak now and they aren't there. I completely missed the leak yesterday. :P Instagram is completely unfeasable, unless there is a specific account I don't know about which I'm supposed to be following. -
I'm really happy that Mr. Freeze got a new helmet! The Mysterio globe just wasn't going to cut it. His torso looks pretty flat, but maybe there is an armor piece out there that can bulk up his shoulders a bit. Also, I might be misremembering, but shouldn't he have blue hips? It looks like the legs are solid black. I know his boots were lilac too, but maybe the CMF Sinestro's legs will look good here.... Batman's cape does look weird. But maybe I need higher quality images to judge it. I don't like that it seems to have less presence than the cloth capes or the 89 piece. I love that the Batmobile is dark blue. That's some much welcome variety! It lends interest to the model, which is otherwise very flat. Oh, and that's one of the most atrocious set names of all time. The mech is bland. Batman's cape sticking out is kind of funny. I think Batman's torso might be updated (the logo looks a little bigger?) but it's not enough to sell the set. But again, maybe better images will show that something's missing. The Batpod doesn't interest me at all, not that I expected it too. I like Lego action figures and I find these to be overpriced and mostly the same. I have Miles Morales and that has been enough. But somebody must be buying these.

I wasn't a big fan of that piece when I saw it last week, but I like this idea. I'll keep an eye out in it for other colors. It seems fairly likely it will come in black at least, maybe in next year's winter wave. edit: It does come in black in the C-Rex! I'll put that piece on my BnP watchlist. Right now I'm using a fur collar piece and graduate's cloth robe, which is fine, but I'm not a big fan of the robe as a trench coat.

I'm happy that this is the 66 Batmobile. I love that show. With the BTAS art set I'll probably hold off on it for a while if I get it at all. Robin should be included. I have the 66 Batcave and love the classic Robin figure there. I wish he were more widely available! I wonder if Batman will use a printed head and the Black Panther ear piece. I think that would be a better fit than the short-eared cowl. (Is that part even still in production now that we have the one with molded white lenses?) That would make him a little bit more unique so that he might be more of a draw than otherwise since he came in a $30 not that long ago, but only for die-hard collectors. But really Robin should be here with him. And maybe Batgirl. They could have reintroduced or redesigned her mold and shared it with the Juniors Batcave....

It's probably true that those have more lasting influence than a lot of MCU properties. Batman Returns gets a nice big set for its 30th anniversary, probably not a lot of later Marvel movies will. But yeah, not really the point. It does mean that DC (and Batman in particular) can always make a comeback though since it has contributed to pop culture in a lasting way! I tend to think a true comeback won't happen until sometime after the current shared universe/multiverse fad goes away and superheroes have some time to rest and come back refreshed, but we'll see. I'll take what I can get in the meantime. And I like all of those Batman properties, so I'm glad we are still getting those at least, as much as I would like more comic book and JL stuff. The Marvel mech suits always have unique minifigures these days except for the Venom one which included a second Miles Morales figure to compensate for the reuse. It's not a sure thing, but I'm expecting that Batman will have a new torso at least. Some kind of armored variant would make sense. But if it is a reuse, we might at least get another figure thrown in. (Probably Joker, unless it's a figure from the Batcave. But who knows.)

I mean, if Marvel plummets so badly that the newest MCU movies are less culturally relevant than Batman 89, 66, and TAS then there might be some truth to that? Oh, and if everyone on earth forgets that Spider-Man exists. Hm, when I say type it out loud that's likely totally for sure in all probability going to really happen by this time next year. Especially if we keep harping on it week after week.

71046 CMF series 26: Space themed!
SoupOrFishOil replied to Megbricks's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Not a big fan of this series. The only two that really do it for me are the Retro Space Girl and Orion, though the Human Suit is growing on me. A lot of the others are just okay, and it's mostly in the execution I think. Some even feel really close to being great, like the Ice Planet woman, but just have something missing. (In her case it is definitely trans orange, and maybe skis like someone said). But the Brickfantatics images do show a lot of interesting stuff I had missed before, so I may appreciate these more in-hand. The M-Tron mechanical arm for instance--is that hose a separate piece from the clamp? If it is, I can think of a few uses for the hose, even if it isn't flexible. The purple coloring for the branding of this series is really nice. -
Is the $200 set definitely a "black box" D2C set? We have never had two for DC in the same year before, and we aren't even guaranteed one every year. Harry Potter is getting a mainline $200 Great Hall playset this year. $200 doesn't go as far as it used to; even small non-licensed modulars are a bit more now. The Burton Batwing went for that in 2020, and the first Tumbler was $200 in 2014. I don't expect a mainline DC playset at this price point, but who knows. And even then the only things that I could see at a price point like this would be a largish vehicle or two at play scale (the BAT vs Bane's Tumbler? I can't think of anything else from well-liked movies which would be iconic and "large scale" enough) or a location like Joker's amusement park, ACE chemicals, Iceberg Lounge, or Arkham Asylum are possible (and could all be BTAS/TNBA based since they are so allergic to the comics now), but those are all too interesting for what we usually get, and there aren't likely to be many minifigures. A new Batcave would compete with the shadowbox, even if that's going to have a short life. Even if the price seems relatively low to me I think a bat vehicle is a very good guess. The last one was the Tumbler remake in 2021, so there hasn't been a new one since the Burton Batwing. The BAT should scale with the Tumbler, and the 66 Batmobile is somewhat complex, so either of those being done for $200 present day seems unlikely to me. But I could maybe see the BtAS Batmobile being done at that price point, since it is a lot sleeker than other vehicles and a larger model might actually make it look plain and boring, and that's the price they sell the BTTF DeLorean for. But even then it's still weird not just that we are just getting two large DC sets in the same year, but that they would both be based on the same incarnation of Batman.... Who knows though. The weirdness should make speculation more fun, even if we are guessing the worst possible scenario. And I'm happy with the skyline so anything else is just a bonus. Especially since I wouldn't be likely to get a bat vehicle. If this is a bat vehicle I think it would be great if they returned to the tradition of the Burton sets and include three minifigures. The idea that Phantasm was moved to a D2C Batmobile makes some sense, but she's not very iconic so I can't see her paired with a reused Batman creating much interest. But with Robin or Two-Face as a third figure that might help. Similarly, I think that the BAT could use Bane alongside Batman and Catwoman (especially since Batman might be reused from The Tumbler). And while I am sure a new 66 Robin would interest people and Joker would be too tempting for Lego not to include, the only desirable character from the Adam West series Lego hasn't made at all is Batgirl. An Eartha Kitt Catwoman would also be neat, but that's a deep cut! The only other thing I could see would be some kind of Batman memorabilia with buildable objects like a batarang, Joker card, Ivy's carnivorous plant, a vial of fear toxin, etc. But who would want that? :P edit: while speculating, if this isn't a D2C set (which I realize it very likely is, I just can't keep up with rumors as well as I used to) if they are keeping with the BTAS theme they probably could do a playset with the Batwing and a GCPD blimp. Throw in Robin, one or two of the police characters (Gordin/Bullock/Montoya), and a couple of villains (there is always Joker, but I also remember Scarecrow hijacking a blimp in one episode, and Man-Bat would also make sense, but they can really include whoever they want) and that would be...too interesting to be realistic. :P

21348 Lego Ideas Dungeons & Dragons and D&D CMF
SoupOrFishOil replied to Black Falcon's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Yes, thank you! I played a bit of DnD in high school but I couldn't remember any of the races beyond the normal fantasy ones. (Humans, halflings, dwarves, elves, etc.) Official images of the set are out on the Legoleak reddit.- 686 replies

The minifigures look really good. Can anyone more familiar with DnD remind me what each one is supposed to be? I can't find the original list.- 686 replies

I think Wonder Woman would be more likely to be the extra alongside a DCEU Batman if they did release a Batmobile. She shared much more significant screentime alongside Batman, the movies she was in were more appropriate for general audiences than most of (all of?) Harley's, and Gal's WW was a phenomenon with the first movie. Wondy's only downside is that, unlike Harley, she is a non-Batman character. But it's not going to happen anyway. At least I think it's more likely that we get UCS versions of the Batmobiles from BTAS, Batman 66, Batman Forever, the BAT, and possibly even Batman & Robin's Batblade before they revisit the DCEU. People need some distance to become nostalgic for that version, if they ever do. And they can always rerelease the Tumbler with minimal changes again rather than do something new. :P

Has anyone found or made a list of all of the character silhouettes in the skyline? In this picture I see Robin, Batgirl, Alfred, Riddler, Clayface, Catwoman, Mr. Freeze, Summer Gleeson, Penguin, Gordon, Montoya, Bullock, Two-Face, Scarecrow, Ra's Al Ghul, Harley, Ivy, Condiment King, Clock King, Joker, Bane, Killer Croc. Arkham (and possibly other?) buildings are covered, but elsewhere it looks like Mad Hatter, Baby Doll, a third figure (I think someone said Lock-Up?) are all in there. Is there anyone I'm missing? I'd imagine that Man-Bat is probably here somewhere. And Phantasm should be since the survey leak indicated she was going to be a minifigure. It makes sense that she would be referenced in the set somewhere. Also: hopefully Mr. Freeze's silhouette is an indication that the minifigure in the Batmobile will have an accurate dome. I really don't like the spherical helmet for him.

Not just that set. The Ninjago City (plus a few Monkie Kid) sets have a number of stylized urban buildings at a playscale. Not everything which is in the art set would be included obviously, but those type of sets are really good at including a number of locations at a pretty good level of detail. As for exactly what that would include I don't know. But I think the GCPD, Wayne Enterprises, and Joker's Amusement Park would be good choices for the "meat" of the set, and then they could fill in with a few more minor locations (A hideout for Ivy, Mr. Freeze's lab, a diamond shop, a radio station, Veronica Vreeland's apartment, etc.). I get that the art set offers something unique though and that they have at least two large sets like what I have described out already, so a third Batman one might split the market. (But I think BTAS would offer something more unique from Ninjago and MK than they do from each other, so hey.) And then obviously there wasn't a very high budget for the minifigures, given that we only got four of them, and Catwoman's arms really should have been dual-molded. I'm also glad that this set allows them to incorporate the red sky and police blimps from the show. Those either woudn't be included in a play set, or would be referenced in a way which would probably be silly.
