I fear it's too late already with Riyus wingspan being HUGE, but something I wanted to see from ninjago is a full blown mech for Riyu. I know the ultra combo mech was originally designed to be his mech, then it was given to Zane, but im talking about a huge robotic dragon that Riyu can sit inside, and pilot, like how minifigs pilot human style mechs. Maybe we will get that with a new smaller dragon, who knows? Looking at the new sets, I neglected to give my opinion on the Arc dragon. For those who are interested or care, personally I like the more outlandish design and colour schemes, but the technic is throwing me off a bit. I LOVE that we are seeing purple in some bigger builds now, im in desperate need of more purple sets and im kinda sick of buying knight busses to satiate my appetite for those parts. This is one I desperately need to see in-hand, and I do like how if you buy the storm village and the 2 march dragons, you get the whole wave of figures. Im certainly considering that as an option, but I love the combo mech and want to pick that up too. I may take my chance with the January sets and see if I can nab the remaining figures in magazines. Still no info on the crossroads sadly. Do we all think it's gonna be a ninjago city module or a play set like TTC?

True, though thats good to hear regardless. My biggest problem with Egalt from reviews is that the body was 2-4 bricks wide, which for a set of that price just didnt feel worth it, especially compared to dragons from hunted, which are the only ones in that size category ive still got around (SD of motions a tad bit too big I think). Thunderfang less so, despite the body being relatively thin I think it does feel bigger due to the stance of it and the wings, they create a (very) rough dome shape when folded down, feeling a bit like lego sets from the 2010s using big pieces and being relatively hollow/empty (looking at you, power miners titanium command rig). Still, Im very excited to get Rontu in the summer and I haven't actually got a S2P1 Ras or cinder yet, so It was a good way to grab them too. The price increases are becoming really apparent, I think the biggest issue with the Jan wave though is figure numbers, specifically the mid ranged sets. if you compare the number of figs we used to get in sets of that size (inflation kinda skewing the metrics, but it still shows), we've seen a significant drop. 3 figs in both $50 sets this wave, we had 4 in storm bringer with was $40 in 2018, 4 in Coles Rock raider from 2017, 4 in the fire fang from 2019. Its just kind of disappointing, especially when one of the figures is a reuse from almost every other set in the wave and in the Ras jet he comes in both the spinner (with Arin) and in the SD of motion and TTC last wave. Ive wondered if the ninjago team consider the little dragon buddys to be "figures" sort of like how dreamzzz considers the dreamlings figures but they're not highlighted on the box. I love the jet build but that figure selection is seriously off-putting, and with the reveal of the Arin suit in the Thunderfang, im guessing thats gonna be his actual suit this coming season. Dragons are a difficult thing to price-gauge though, it's been stated many times by designers that joint pieces are more expensive to produce, so they need to allocate more budget to those pieces.

It's just occurred to me that both Egalt and Thunderfang cost $70. Im not gonna lie, I think Egalt is one of the most overpriced sets from last year, and I think Thunderfang is definitely more worth the money you pay. Does anyone who owns Egalt also think hes small/overpriced or is he actually decently sized? Im only asking because I managed to get him for £30 new from Ebay, but im keeping him until Rontu gets released so I can build them together. Im curious what the comparisons between Egalt and Thunderfang will be though, because I do plan on getting Thunderfang for full retail when he does release.

This would be both utterly hilarious and also a great excuse to keep giving the ninja new vehicles. Some more notes from RLFM day presentations - spoilers!

Yeah still nothing revealed. I have to say I’m really liking the thunderfang though, that blurry leak did not do it justice. The arc dragon im still a bit iffy on. Out of curiosity has it been confirmed by any big leakers that the March crossroads set is actually happening? I’ve seen mixed rumours and at this point I would have expected to have seen a description of it, or at the very least confirmation if it’s a Ninjago city module or not. That’s really what’s gonna dictate if I get it budget wise.

Review of the spaceship from Duckbricks, absolutely incredible set. I loved the review, thankfully it’s from someone who is VERY passionate about space and this line in particular. I think I will be buying this day one. Somehow though, the middle section STILL is a mystery. Not shown in the review, which makes me wonder if it’s even accessible. Edit - it’s been discovered! Another giant leap for mankind! -
We have an updated list of the summer sets - 30700 - Arin vs Dragonian 71838 - Kais motorcycle speed race 79 pcs £9/$10 71839 - Arins spinjitzu mech 213 pcs £17.99/$20 71840 - Rogue vs Drix race car battle 111 pcs £18.99/$20 (confirmed to be a 4+ set) 71842 - Rontu the master dragon 381 pcs £40/$45 71843 - Rogues mech dragon 584 £65/$70 71844 - ninja combat vehicle 561 pcs £75/$90 71845 - Lloyds transforming mech jet 1112 pcs £90/$100 71846 - Fire knight mech 996 pcs £105/$120 71847 - guardian dragon and temple diorama 1650 pcs £135/$150 71848 - Temple bounty 2387 pcs £180?/$200 Lots to talk about and speculate here. Arins mech could be an elemental power mech, or at least compatible with, obviously he doesnt have an element. Rontu only having 381 pieces is kind of disappointing, sets at that price point often feel overpriced. Ninja combat vehicle at $90 for less pieces than Rogues mech dragon is something. Likely massive tires on that vehicle I guess. Lloyds transforming mech jet is gonna be huge, but I think more like the Z blob knight mech and not Coles titan mech. Kais fire knight mech is obviously going to be like Coles mech from this year. 14+, 996 pieces. I think the exploration into more adult focused sets has been successful. The temple and guardian dragon having 1600 pieces for $150 isn't bad, sounds like a highly detailed build. Not a bad PTP count considering it's a diorama set and it includes a dragon, which usually eats up budget through joints, wings and moulded dragon head parts. And finally, a 2300 piece bounty, WOW I am hyped to see this! both the temple and bounty being 14+ as well is interesting. Wonder how long it will take for us to get an 18+ ninjago set.

LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion

Rightttttttt well getting back into more mainstream sci-fi stuff, I haven't seen anyone review the new intergalactic city spaceship so im guessing we will have to wait till January 1st to find out what is in that section behind the cockpit. I do want to see how it pairs with the other space station set, im pretty sure with 2 extra pieces (inverted 2x2 plates with technic pins) you can mount the entire ring section half way through the intergalactic spaceship. It wont spin, but the idea of a gravity wheel is close enough. I just need to pick both of them up for a decent price, ive been struggling to find the space station for under £80 in the UK. These space sets are proving to be very popular because apart from the small rover and spaceship, none of the other sets have appeared on second hand sites for cheap yet. Ive got my eye on the big space base set for £50 but it's my least favourite set of the wave and id rather get the space station and the big spaceship. For those across the great pond, is the space science lab set a retail exclusive in the US too? It's exclusive to Argos here in the UK and it's a royal pain in the big behind to actually find. -

Yeah I’ve just gotten to that part in the video. Looks like the clip parts need to be swapped around by one stud to the left or right. The alienator build is very impressive. -

Ok with the full reveal now out, yeah im definitely liking it a lot more. £10 less than the leak specified, and the rover fills in the centre much much more than I expected. The alt builds are a nice touch and im sure there will be so many more amazing alternate builds that come out when fans get their hands on it. Modularity with the cruiser looks to be there as well. Now we need a Battrax, my favourite of the OG blacktron sets. 8/10 set IMO. Official reviews start tomorrow. -

if it follows the normal LEGO reveal cycle, it should be officially revealed in just under and hour. 2pm GMT is the normal time I’ve found for sets to be put up. Ok a blurry picture of the back of the box leaked, it’s 47x30 cm. The splitting parts are - 2 engines on the back cockpit and front module at the front of the 2 sections 2 side drones and the rover goes in the middle. The central truss of the ship does not separate into 2 parts, likely for structural reasons. Back of the box is an all black background with no blacktron type design other than a yellow brick trim. -

This is a very very good point. No room inside other than the cockpit itself makes it feel like an oversized strike fighter, not the flagship it’s meant to be. Correct me if I’m wrong but I think the original had more room inside to fit figures with that central back section that’s been omitted in the remake. I think the rover is dropped from the back truss, there’s a red lever looking thing in the middle and the rovers shape screams “lift here” in the centre. I imagine it will be like the Mars mission dropship. Well at the end of the day if I don’t like it, guess I’ll funnel the funds into another city intergalactic spaceship. Honestly I think the build may be better than this. -

Ok so given some time to mull it over, the biggest issue is the fact they dropped the whole “off centre” vibe which makes the renegade… yk the renegade? This looks like 2 random ships they bolted together. I think the ship does have modular compatibility with the blacktron cruiser, but I can’t see how it would improve it TBH. This is going to be a very divisive set but I’m sure I and many others will get it anyways. I also think we have been spoiled by some amazing ran recreations that set our expectations too high. It also looks mighty small for £100. landing gears a nice touch though. -

It’s hereeeeeeeeeeree Hmmmmm I don’t know how to feel about this. Some aspects I like, there’s clear modularity and the ship itself has the shape, but parts just look off. The cockpit, the nose, the little side vehicles. I like the rover though. I’m gonna need to see more pics! -

Yeah, the date was provided by Claybricks himself to the users in a Chatroom called “Blacktron waiting room”. Said “reveal is set for the 18th right now” and we haven’t heard anything otherwise since the 4th of December. -

Joining in on the speculation, the transparent module looks to be fairly empty other than a small stud on the wall for holding the helmet and a warning sticker? im assuming that is where the little drone goes, or the EVA suit. This has already been fairly speculated tho so I want to propose my own idea for the covered module. given it doesnt have crew access but does have a window, a reactor is a solid bet, but I also think an area for the alien, like a microhabitat could be possible. We had a space for the humans to live on the alien planet, so maybe a place for the aliens to live on a human spaceship wouldn't be out of the question? I also feel like this would be shown on the back of the box though. In other news, Renegade should be revealed tomorrow (18th). -
Good news! Nokt and Arin are coming in activity books that I presume will be released next year. Aron’s not too big of a deal but it’s a nice figure so I wouldn’t mind getting multiple, and Nokt being available for about £15 I’m guessing is great for those who want to complete the F5 set quickly, although he will be in other sets.
