  1. Well I started wanting to make a 5th wheel towing device like Tru Hitch. I tried a few ideas but it didn't work out. I was able to make a mountable crane. It retains much of its 42008 heritage. I flipped the booms structure placing the extending part inside. The out-rigger drive is now the slew. I added two spot lights to the operator’s side. I used all the green to make the base. Not pictured is a set of manual out-riggers, based off the 8110 setup. The platform is stabilized off the wheels to prevent rocking. Also on the Mog is a side platform for shunting and a coupling attachment on the front. I didn't mount the battery pack on the back because of clearance issues on my other Mog. I try to keep attachments universal. I have a few other items to photograph.
  2. A good size box, work out with the staff ahead of time to store it in an office till needed. If your parents are available have them drop/pick-up. That's just awesome, I have found my next attachment.
  3. I have not, with a torque limiter in the mix, it gives out before the M motor does. For my forestry Mog I swap out the torque gear with a normal one to use the center crane. It's just at the point where it starts to trip the torque gear.
  4. Did some rebuilding on the 6x6 forestry, went to 4x4. The center crane can be removed. It has some LED marker lights, IR driving(2 x L motors). The outriggers are removable and stored in the compartment on the passenger side. One M motor drives six functions. 1 front PTO 2 rear PTO 3 center PTO (drives 5 and 6) 4 compressor 5 boom 6 jib Next for it will be a fifth wheel towing device.
  5. Which cab? the unimog, granted I was short on parts. The half-track was left-overs, cab based off my U20 design. The crane on the other hand does need more work. Is there some part of the cab, if it is the unimog, you didn't like?
  6. No, I never got in to the whole digital stuff. I'd have to rip it apart to do that, plus the front end needs work(a lot). It's a version 1, a few bugs but proves the concept. It's really simple compared to most, 22 studs across, a double beam running 6 studs apart is the back bone. Mostly brick built save the axles, length was based off pictures and keeping it from bowing under load. When I make the changes to the front I take more pictures.
  7. Well I been busy trying different ideas. First an updated snow blower: It's version 3, 2 didn't even make pictures, based off a single action design I saw at Walmart, then found on YouTube. I just need new snow to test it. A trailer for the Unimogs Needs some works. A crane attachment and half-track unimog Both still need tweaking. Crane needs more counter weight, Half-track need air added. I couldn't find a real half-track unimog, so a what if. And finally some tools I'll currently working off the assumption of a 1:12 scale very rough. And that was my long weekend, save the half-track which I had already built.
  8. I'll see something I like and that will inspire me, then do research, mostly pictures and some reading to find examples. After I find enough I start building, and rebuilding. At some point I'll be happy with the results and stop. I may redo it in the future. For me my technic are a continual build. My unimog collection has been going strong since I got my first one. I try to improve as I feel inspired. If it doesn't work out I pause and try again later.
  9. I just got this, the turtle-back HMMWV needs some tweaks, other wise I love it.
  10. Thank you, when I found it on the web attached to a Unimog I just had to make it.
  11. Rear axle No rear axle, out riggers need more better attachment. Rear axle assy. Rear axle assy. Internals, took a few attempts, I'm looking at giving the crane it's own motor for both functions. The door worked out great, I will have to work on my other Mogs do the same. A clam shell design inspired from dr_spock's, I didn't have two of the other buckets. The rubber band helps it close better. The shovels are off set 1/2L to help the teeth mesh. Attachable grader, inspired by the PTH Speed Grader. It's all manual, this is version 3. Showing turning. Mulcher, uses my 3pt. hitch attachment Rake, uses my 3pt. hitch attachment Well that's how I spent my vacation. I still need to do work here and there.
  12. Not right now, I'll take more pictures to-nite. Its held in place with 4 friction pins with bush. Thank you, I have a bit more of work to do on it.
  13. My Unimog 6x6 Forwarder The front end is mostly stock. The crane is based off the logtruck's. It uses 1 Med motor for 6 functions, PTO F/R, Compressor, center slew, 2 for the crane. Right now the rear wheels are setup like a road grader. It also has a set of outriggers. Passenger side Driver side with controls, the white control under the crane selects between the LAs for the crane. Door open, there is a stick inside to hold it open.
  14. I'm In NY, I haven't meet any AFOLs in person. I do Technic and Trains with a side of Pirates. I also do a display each December at my local library and still have not meet any. No LUGs in my neck of NY.
  15. I was just thinking about doing that today. :) Looks good. IR controlled too. Can it be removed or is it "built in" ?
  16. Thank you. The excavators been a long project.
  17. Well I had some quality Lego Technic time so I roughed out some ideas. First some center detail pictures. I'm still tweaking it, but it works. The last 2 picture show how the compressor attach. The backhoe v3. I reused the crane outriggers, outriggers are on my to do list. This version works much better and is balanced. It's fully IR and independent of the Unimog. The bucket is what I have available right now. Slew is a bit to fast I have to adjust it with a worm gear. A mounted chipper, it's driven by the PTO, no it doesn't chip anything. It has a support and the chute is manually rotated Fork lift inspired by dr_spock. PPTO adjusts the angle, the fork spacing is manually adjustable, and lock into position. A Rotary Snowblower, untested, still rough but I want to see if it will work before I put more into it. It's driven off the PTO right now. I may get a dedicated XL for it. The tracked Unimog has cleats, first snow it couldn't grip, the next was too fluff and it sank but the cleats helped. Now it probably won't snow again.
  18. @brathendel Morning, Yes it rotates off a center PTO, and uses a center PPTO. the PTO is not really center of the chassis. The crane is offset to the pass side to keep the overhang down. While the crane is stock, the cross bar the pneumatics is pulled down one, the pin is one up from the hole. This keeps it from hitting the cab. I kept the crane stock so in concept I can remount it to the outriggers if I wanted too. I rebuilt the drive so I have front, rear(yellow) and center(red). Center is independent of front and rear. The compressor(gray) is also independent. I'll get some picture this week.
  19. I have, I lengthened the chassis too. I did have to make a slight change to the crane so it would be able to clear the cab.
  20. Just built it, needs a little work. Won't stay centered.
  21. Great review, Of all of them I like this set the most. I'd love to include it in to my train table but I doubt my daughters would let me. Of my three daughters, my tomboy, I expected would not even want to touch them. She built the little convertible car and played with it to boot. My other two love the sets. I like the new details that are include. Now of course these are the Lego bricks my kids will be getting me for a bit.
  22. the top beams stick out 2 studs, and 5 studs between them. the PTO is 1 stud down from top beams centered the bottom are 2 studs out, 3 studs between them and 3 studs between the top and bottom. BsssssB sssPsss sssssss sssssss sBsssBs s = space B = where the beam sticks out P = PTO
  23. OK thats what I was thinkg two, given the size you would have to atlest double it.
