There’s something about this Dobby set that has caught my interest, don’t know if it’s because of how goofy it looks or what, but I do like it. -

I thought about this too. The different characters do not need to be coordinated in their outfits just because they’re part of the same set, perhaps they will just share the same castle and have their own fairy tale inside it. I mean this isn’t the 2019 clock tower set from Harry Potter lol, or maybe it’s just me wishful thinking because it sounds like a more exciting idea. Tiana can come in her waitress/1920 outfit along with a room dedicated to Tiana’s place? Aurora in the gray dress along with a green section that represents the forest where she meets the prince? Cinderella will obviously come in her gown but maybe another version of her in rags is included to depict another scene of the movie? Etc Now that I think about it, the pairing of princes and princesses really sounds strictly like a fancy gathering :( -

Oh true, I found his exact comment. It would be hard to not distinguish Mickey & friends… however blurriness can be to blame as well. -

Oh? I don’t remember that one. Then Mickey, Minnie, Belle and Beast sound very plausible IMO. -

The stepmother, stepsisters and fairy godmother would take the remaining 4 slots so it could work, but something tells me we won’t get that much of Cinderella even though it makes perfect sense here. Normally I would think the same thing but after that many 4+ sets, mickey and minnie in the train set and another mickey in the CMF, I don’t see this set being an exception too far-fetched. Or perhaps I just really don’t want them to be there haha. -

I cannot stop refreshing the usual tag on IG. Is it silly of me to expect leaks of the castle this month? I really hope the other 4 figures aren’t the mice/ducks/goofy, I would be so happy if we got Eugene and Rapunzel in there instead. Speaking of Rapunzel, it would be great if she got a hairpiece similar to Pocahontas but that goes all the way down to the bottom of her legs. I don’t think lego has ever made a hair piece that long but I don’t see why they wouldn’t. The braid they gave the minidoll sucks IMO and isn’t very characteristic of her. -

I guess she will come in her wedding dress, or the more casual 1920’s green outfit. Another option could be her CMF version but with the big dress piece, though it wouldn’t make sense as it would make the cmf version useless and inaccurate. If they make Cinderella’s dress silver and white, I can see them using the light blue for Tiana and a darker blue for Aurora so they would all look different :) This scenario seems impossible to me though. -

Ever since I stopped collecting out of completionism sake, I have to say HP in particular has made me less and less excited every time. The BoH set looks very interesting but that’s about it. Something about needing to collect everything that comes out defeats the joy of buying lego in the first place. I will probably just stick to collecting the figures, or stick to ephemeral/limited themes like classic Disney. -

Snow white’s witch, Gaston, new maleficent and evil genie just leaked along buildable items, mmmm. So I wonder if we’re not getting the cottage and dragon after all. the buildable books, apple, VHS and clock look good but couldn’t care less about them. -

I recently got the disney celebration train, it’s a nice piece for those who are building a Disneyland/amusement park. My favorite bits are Moana and the Jolly Roger. I have to say I’m really not a fan of Tinkerbell’s new face, it’s very creepy, she could be the Joker’s henchwoman. Good thing we have the original version which is very accurate and more stylized. This 100% I personally don’t love remakes, but even as an adult who grew up with the classic, I wouldn’t have minded if the set based on this new movie was smaller (the details on those figures are amazing) but sold more as a playset. It just doesn’t make sense as a display piece to me for the reasons you already described. -

Well, apart from minor tweaks like facial expression updates and using the new mermaid tail, Triton and the other two mermaids would’ve sufficed for me to get the set IF it was both based on the classic and it was actually a palace haha. They could’ve also thrown in small out-of-the-sea scenes so we could get human Ariel, prince Eric and even Ursula in her human form. The way they went for this design is weird to me. A big funky display piece like this, specially considering the price, is only justifiable for actual iconic well-known movies IMO, meaning it needed to be based on the classic one at least. I’m trying to say this kind of icon set doesn’t fit a live action remake which isn’t even out yet. -

Couldn’t care less about the insipid minifigs, but damn I’m getting the lost tomb and plane chase day 1! Rest in peace temple of doom :’( -

Recently got the black lake set. It’s a very nice set and tops the OG one easily. Some trans clear bars to attach the mermaid and perhaps Krum and Harry would’ve been nice. In my opinion Krum needed either printed or dual molded legs, and Hermione needs to shed that Carina Smith print once and for all. I also think a dark blue baseplate bigger enough to put the boat in would’ve been nice, otherwise it’s just at the bottom of the lake which doesn’t make sense haha. The inclusion of the little room at the top with its mugs is very welcome! I love that top floor. Overall a very solid set. -

These figures have all grown on me, so I will get the whole series. I really like them and they did an undeniably great job, but that doesn’t stop me from giving criticism since there is room for improvement. As a designer I could’ve been more accurate on some bits. Dear LEGO, those overly cute faces need to go. If the character doesn’t have it, don’t do it. Not only does that stylization steal from the likeness, but it also looks kind of bad. You managed to translate S1 and S2 figures without that issue, why not this time around? -

Wondering the same thing. Could’ve been a less boring figure. Ernesto is incredibly detailed! Definitely my favorite fig. -

*Comes out of the bush* In general that’s how they’ve been designing a lot of characters nowadays. Y’all could join me in sending those comments in the lego surveys 🤭 Nice hair/hat piece, but the likeness overall isn’t there. The dark hair and eyebrows make him look even paler, as opposed to the lighter eyebrows/hair and tanned skin tone Indy had in the movies. I also thought the torso and legs were the old ones, but now I realized they’re even less detailed. -

Agreed! I’m eager to swap hair/hat pieces and dual molded legs with the older ones! I feel like many of us can agree on Elsa being the most cursed. Henry Jones Sr. is indeed one of the best licensed figures out there, I had forgotten about that incredible face print. -

How do you guys feel about the 2008-2009 figures? Are they still holding up to today’s standards? IMO, they sure as hell are, I love the face and torso prints so much. Actually I even miss the silly blue eyes on some of the characters, not going to lie. -

I wonder if leaving out the controversial aspects of the set would’ve been a contradiction in itself, equalling to not designing it in the first place. Perhaps just the trio, the cart and the tracks? -

I see. Oh well, never watched ToD myself but my rage over the cancellation made me overlook the most important aspect of it. F*ck racism. Still, why cancel it now? I feel so confused. I’d be happy just getting short round, Willie and Indy.
