Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion
T21Typhoon replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Holy WHAT. This year really is a transformational one for Marvel, wow! Glad the theme is looking up just like Star Wars will be this summer. Itching to know what figures the Endgame Final Battle set contains. Come on leakers! -

While it would be really cool to get either Rex or Cody with the Havoc Marauder (Cody is the one they reported to in Season 7 of TCW after all), I can see an extra minifigure being one of the Elite Squad Troopers from The Bad Batch show. It’d make sense to include someone for the Bad Batch to fight, but I suppose the inclusion of a sixth figure is conjecture at this point anyway. -

The overall improvement in quality of Lego Marvel sets this year has been fantastic to see with Shang-Chi and The Eternals, and I hope this is a long term paradigm shift for the theme as a whole. I built Far From Home’s Hydro-Man Attack today and can’t get over how much of a perfect set it is, and I’d love to see this level of quality be applied to the No Way Home wave. Fingers crossed that the summer wave is Endgame-based, especially if it’s confirmed we’ll be getting Korg! I may be grasping at straws, but I also took the purple hue of the Avengers logo from the catalogue placeholder leak a few weeks ago as a sign as well. Overall, feeling optimistic about the waves to come, at least when it comes to MCU sets -

Just the helmets and Probe Droid statue, the Bad Batch Shuttle is a part of the August summer wave I haven’t been this excited for a Lego Star Wars wave like the summer one in a long time, can’t imagine the pictures will leak anytime soon but it’s good to know what we’ll be getting at least. -

I believe it was Tech who was stated to have a new helmet mould, which makes sense as it has the most distinctive profile. One thing I’m interested in is how the Darksaber will be handled, presuming it comes with Moff Gideon in the Arquitens. A standard lightsaber hilt along with the shortened katana piece from Ninjago should do the trick, and I think the Prime Empire sets already use this piece combination? Also, remoulded P2 clone helmet with attachment holes please Lego! Such a minor modification that will open the door for countless specialised Clones in the future. -

Assuming the list is true, WOW! I am so excited for this lineup, it honestly seems like one of the more interesting Star Wars waves in recent memory. -

I’m assuming this means there’s no veracity to the rumour, still hopeful though! Looking forward to seeing UCS R2, it’s a great choice for a May UCS. I imagine he’ll feature a few of the gadgets and leg jets he uses throughout the films with some innovative functions. -

Hopefully we can get the best of both worlds. I’m sure the summer wave will inevitably feature more reimagined OT content, but I’ll be happy as long as we also get Mandalorian / Clone Wars / Prequel / Bad Batch / etc. oriented sets as well if only for diversity, more interesting builds, and better minifigures. -

Liking how the shuttle looks, the new approach of swinging the upper wing backward to access the interior from above certainly looks more convenient than the swinging side panels from the 2015 set! This also makes me wonder if Lego will offer up a Havoc Marauder at a similar scale / price-point to tie in with The Bad Batch. Thus far, it looks like the TIE Fighter and potentially Trouble on Tatooine will be my winter wave purchases. I’ll wait until we get a better idea of the summer lineup to see if Beskar Mando will appear in a set with a better build. -

What irks me is that this is becoming the case despite the increase in new Star Wars content across the board and Lego’s long history with the brand. I’ll admit that the anticipation for each system scale wave every year is always exciting and something I genuinely look forward to, but hearing things like this dampens my excitement concerning the future of this theme, although I’ll refrain from jumping the gun prematurely. Having still not built my 2018 X-Wing and TIE Fighter sets, I was considering selling them and buying the new, simplified updates. But seeing these new reviews, I think I’ll stick with the 2018 iterations. These new ones are fantastic for what they are though! -

The Shuttle looks great! I had the 2015 iteration years ago, and would have definitely bought this if the corresponding minifigures had any sort of draw to them. Endor Han, Leia, and Luke along with maybe a Scout Trooper would have been fantastic! But nope, 3 minifigures, 2 of which are repeats from this year’s DSII set. Although this wave has a few good things going for it; cheaper and simpler sets that retain the playability and display value of their predecessors, Beskar Mando (wish he had a face though), and...General Dodonna, it feels like a big “meh” to me as someone who has been collecting for a couple of years now. I do hope the negative elements of this wave aren’t setting a precedent for what we’ll be getting in both the summer and the years to come. -
Marvel Superheroes 2020 - Rumors & Discussion

Interesting wave, looks like the highlights for me are the Miles Morales Mech and Ghost Rider sets, though the Monster Truck set has some awesome elements such as Mysterio (with green effects!), his drones, and Doc Ock. To throw my two pennies into the mix, I can’t say Lego’s obsession with Spider-vehicles is an appealing one. Of course, if it draws in the target demographics for this theme, then all the power to them - but having THIS many Spider-Man sets a year with very few locations for him to actually swing and parkour around is quite a shame. I’m sure that most fans associate Spidey with his stunts and acrobatics after all, rather than piloting or driving a plethora of vehicles a high-school student from Queens could only dream of. It’s also disappointing to see the same villains being redone time and time again (although this isn’t always a negative), but then again Lego really loves playing it safe with their Spider-Man sets. -

A little late to the party, but that Mando set looks decent! Really enjoyed the Tatooine speeder bike montages in S2E1. Not too big a fan of Lego choosing to include a ballista here, but I’m curious to see high-res images regardless. Beskar Mando will be nice to have, and I really hope we get an actual face underneath the helmet this time round. Overall, I can see this set and possibly the Tydirium being my only SW purchases for the first half of 2021. Feeling optimistic that the summer wave will contain some more interesting offerings. -

Lego’s decisions on new moulds in this theme confuse me sometimes, like designing a new Stormtrooper helmet but not an updated P2 clone trooper one that can support the various helmet attachments which have been in circulation forever. I concur it’s unlikely we’ll see a new mould for Mando, but the beskar variant should look fantastic as long as they print it correctly and perhaps recolour the helmet and give it some updated printing. I’m quite keen to see what the Mandalorian “Hero Ship / Transport” set entails. Figure-wise, Beskar Mando and 1 or 2 other minifigures are my guess. An updated Greef or Cara would be acceptable, but hopefully we’ll see characters not yet produced! The ITT seems like the perfect setting for this set, but I can see Lego reserving a vehicle like that for the £40-50 price point to include more Imperial troopers. On the topic of SW being driven by merchandise, I never particularly found it to be an issue in the past mainly because of the OT / PT / TCW having such fantastic vehicle designs that you’d want a toy of, and this extends to character designs too. I found the ST to be creatively stagnant in this regard, though that’s purely subjective. -

For what they’re supposed to be, the simplified OT ships look charming! I quite like the TIE in particular, though I’m not a big fan of the blocky Imperial Shuttle. I can appreciate the new approach towards the X-Wing’s nose, but am perfectly happy with my 2018 one, though I’ve yet to open it. Whilst this is a fantastic wave for newcomers to the line and those fed up with the pricing and scaling of the OT ships over the past couple of years, I do feel put off by the more or less complete focus on the OT. The choice of sets feels completely uninspired, and it certainly looks like we won’t be getting any significant new characters. Hopeful to see what the Mandalorian set has to offer, though I’m expecting something along the lines of a pair of speeder bikes at best given the pricepoint. I sincerely hope the summer wave is able to recapture my interest! Overall, I’m curious to see what this focus on simplified and cheaper renditions of iconic vehicles entails for the rest of this theme going forward, particularly when applied towards ships and vehicles from other eras. -

Thanks for the elaboration both, very curious indeed. Just a waiting game for now I suppose to see what unfolds. Mando S2 trailer looks great as expected! Sets the tone without spoiling much. Really hope we get a Beskar variant in next year’s $30 set. Looking at the reviews for the cantina, I’m absolutely sold on it. Great build and diversity of figures. Looking forward to picking it up with the summer wave soon. -

I didn’t see the post / story on IG but it was shared by Landino I think, someone mentioned it on this thread when it happened a few weeks back. Does anyone know if Landino specifically mentioned it was for the Bad Batch, or was that just a speculative comment from another party? -

I feel you there. I’ve been seriously collecting Lego SW for a year now as a recent university graduate, and have always been hopeful that older sets from the golden years like the earlier half of this decade would get remade at this point. It’s ironic that despite the boom in new SW content (Mandalorian, Clone Wars, etc.), Lego are becoming more and more risk-averse. The OT’s appeal is certainly timeless, but SW has grown so much since then. It’s easy to forget Lego is a children’s toy when the generally fantastic execution of System sets, mini-figures, and the overall building experience transcends age groups. This rising trend in dichotomising “adult” and “children’s” Lego strikes me as going against the essence of that. I think it’s also important to remember that the time between Lego seeing a certain subset of Star Wars sets selling significantly well (such as this summer’s Clone Wars sets!) and taking action on it would be very long indeed. Whilst I have my fingers crossed for at least one or two good summer sets next year, I wouldn’t be surprised if we were hit with another Millennium Falcon. With regards to the UCS Republic Gunship, surely it is impossible to be at minifigure scale? The 2008/2013 iterations already hit that mark as System sets. The UCS will almost certainly be at a far larger scale. -

Perhaps I’m overstating my thoughts, but this is honestly one of the most disappointing and boring lineups I’ve read about in this theme since I started collecting a few years ago. Perhaps next summer will be better. Happy for those who missed out on the previous X-Wings and TIE-Fighters though! Especially as these won’t be so obscenely priced. -

Thanks for the input on 501st/AAT set availability everyone! It’s much appreciated. I concur! It’s always nice when details like actual names are dropped on packaging - just feels more authentic. Plus I suppose it’s difficult to come up with so many generic names for the cantina patrons. Looking at the newer HDish leaks of the cantina released over the past couple of days, I’m all the more sold on it. Very excited to see official press release images, particularly as to how the roof of the main cantina building works. Whilst it’s a bit of a shame that characters such as Han/Greedo don’t get dual moulded limbs, the fact that this set alone introduces three new moulds more than makes up for it. To quickly chip in on the remakes discussion, I’m personally fine with them as long as said remakes are a significant improvement over their predecessors and offer some incentive for long-time collectors who may already own the previous rendition of a particular set. Saying that, it seems the window between sets being remade is constricting more than ever, at least when it comes to OT-based sets over the past few years (and select prequel vehicles). Oh, and the Skywalker Saga game’s exclusive blue milk Luke will make for an excellent and intimidating addition to the cantina -
Unpopular Opinions related to Lego Star Wars
T21Typhoon replied to TheAbsoluteSt81's topic in LEGO Star Wars
This has been a great idea for a thread and has been quite interesting to read this far! Thought I’d chip in too. It would be great to get new lightsaber hilt moulds. The current ones are perfectly functional and fine as they are, but they lack detail even for a Lego-ised rendition of a lightsaber. It would be nice to get an update on these after 20 years of using the same standard hilts. Lego could take it a step further and add dynamic lightsaber blade pieces (see Hasbro’s Black Series Count Dooku figure as an example) to make it look like said lightsabers are being swung around, which would look fantastic on duel sets / MOCs. The Episode III Obi-Wan minifigures Lego have produced over the past 8 years hit the mark when it comes to printing his robes, but the face and hair have never looked accurate to me. I’m fine with the Rebel Snowspeeder and Eta-2 Jedi Starfighters being remade constantly, but both are in dire need of a new approach towards their cockpits.- 127 replies

Hello everyone! New joiner here, though I’ve been a lurker for the best part of a decade. First off and to address the Dewback in the room, the MBS Mos Eisley Cantina looks incredible! A definite purchase for me next month along with the rest of the summer wave. Potential pricing issues aside, the overall layout and content of the set look fantastic - very display-worthy with a good complement of mini figures to populate it. Nice to see new moulds for cantina patrons too! This is interesting. Most sets from the summer wave this year struck me as “This could have been really good if they had done [XYZ].” Not fun that this approach will continue into 2021, but alas. Has anyone in the U.K. had any success acquiring the 501st and AAT sets? I’m aiming to order them from Shop@Home but they’ve been out of stock since August 1st. Funnily the Death Star Final Duel set was also OOS but was restocked recently.
