Seems like that came out of nowhere... In all seriousness... the number of sets were waaaaaay more than expected... Not necessarily... in US other stores sells D2C sets for the same price. Not sure about other regions though.

I wouldn't really call it a downgrade... the older one might be more complicated, but the new one might be more suitable for younger builders. Therefore I wouldn't say any of them is worse than the other. One obvious upgrade is that the new one has better value... -
Just bricklink one... there isn't any special parts apart from the sticker.
