LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

My thoughts as well. They used dual moulded legs to make Leia worse, and cheaped out on the figure where it would've been an improvement. -

Ok I think I love it. Can't wait to see some interior pictures too. Curious about the exact length- looks a little smaller than proper minifigure scale. C-3PO doesn't have his dual moulded leg Tiny tiny nitpick is that I would've preferred the box to say The Khetanna rather than Jabba's Sail Barge, but that doesn't actually matter lol. It's something I would want if it has a UCS-plaque though. -

Can't tell for sure with the quality of the image, but it looks like Kithaba has yellow eyes . Such a weird choice. Wooof looks absolutely perfect though. More like that please LEGO! -

Yeah true- even with sets like the new Star Destroyer which I think are good I'm still waiting for a decent discount. -

Ok that Bib is unacceptable. Minifigure design has really gone downhill recently. Reused ESB Boba, Thrawn's code cylinders, many obvious mistakes with Clones over the past few years, and I'm sure there are some others that I'm missing. And that doesn't include the weird glowing eyes: I don't like those but at least they're a stylistic choice rather than a blatant inaccuracy like the others I've listed. Time to vote with our wallets. When we first had the survey leak I was all set to buy this day one, then we had the Boba Fett be included with the skiff and be the wrong version and other minor issues that put me on the fence. This Bib Fortuna is the last straw. I might buy the set eventually if the build is truly amazing, but certainly not without a good discount. -

Picture of the nose of the barge on Reddit. Looks really good so far, can't wait to see the whole thing! -
Yeah that's happening with Star Wars right now too. Some leakers are saying the next buildable helmet is Bo-Katan, others are saying it's Jango Fett. I doubt they are both coming; more likely they googled "blue mandalorian" and picked the first name that came up. We'll find out next year which one is correct lol

Yeah wayyy back when it was first rumoured this set was going to be a day 1 buy for me. The battle at the Pit of Carkoon was my favourite scene in all of Star Wars when I was 8, and I was obsessed with all the different guards and small details even years later. Now, with the inaccurate Leia, ugly Salacious and overall low figure count it'll need a decent discount (unless the build is something truly amazing; obviously that's the main thing you pay for but I'm not optimistic). And the main thing that got me excited initially was the prospect of an accurate RotJ Boba. Look how that turned out... -

Yeah Ree-Yees is the big shame for me. I thought about getting him a few years ago but decided "nah, £12 is way too much for a single figure". Oops... -

Kithaba feels like a wasted slot tbh since he's one of the few they've already made and is the cheapest of them all on the aftermarket. Still, better to have him than nothing at all (though a different character would've been preferable) and I'm happy with Vizam and Wooof (as long as they do a good enough job with them). Doesn't quite hold up to the Cantina's figure selection though: 11 here vs 21. Jabba is obviously worth more than a standard figure (though Salacious is worth less) but still would've liked a couple more new guards, especially when the set is a lot more expensive than the Cantina. Fingers crossed for a Jabba's guards battle pack. -

Possible images of Leia and Jabba on Instagram. Leia has dual moulded legs. Of all the possible characters they could've given dual moulding, in a theme where it's so scarcely used and desperately needed, they chose the worst possible figure to do it on. -

If that's the route they go down then honestly I'd prefer if they didn't include Bib at all and just used his "budget" for another named Weequay or Nikto guard figure (there are so many of those who we've never had and they could be done with existing moulds, just need some new prints and I'd rather they use the budget for that than wasting it on an inaccurate Bib). Obviously still speculation though; they might surprise us and bring back the 2003/2012 mould again. -

Might have a Rix Road moment if it's £45 (still not over the UK price of the Phantom II back in 2017 being £40 while it was 30 USD; even with taxes taken into account there was no justification for that) -

Agreed: Luceno and Zahn are two of the best when it comes to writing Star Wars. And yeah a base build of some sort would be great. Honestly I think my favourite set this year (pending the Sail Barge) has been the Tantive IV hallway (bought it without the minifigures though since I have enough Stormies/Rebels, and the RRP is a bit too high for me). I love getting the interiors of ships done properly like that. I'd really love some nicely-done Imperial settings like the ones you've mentioned; the small cramped scenes they put in the Star Destroyer or the 10188/75159 Death Stars just don't do it for me. I guess that's also why I want the Sail Barge to have a proper interior. -

Love the bomber, my only complaints are the gap for the flick fire bombs (easy to mod a panel to cover them) and the opaque cockpit window (might also be fixable but less easy) but they aren't significant issues. I also have 2 of the original set from 2003 and this new one is the same size but sturdier and better in every way. As for price, you can find it a bit cheaper on eBay. I got mine BNISB for £35. As great as it is I definitely wouldn't want to pay significantly more than that. (And yeah the Sloane figure is really nice to have) -

Agreed. The only way I'd be happy with the rumoured minifigure selection is if they make a bunch of smaller sets from the scenes in the palace which each include a couple of unique guards. There are just so many that have never been made and can't easily be done with official parts. E.g. a small set like the 76253 Guardians' Headquarters of Leia (as Boushh) unfreezing Han. Chuck in a couple guards, call it $20 and repeat for a few other minor scenes. Or even a battle pack with 4 guards and a microfighter-style skiff (speaking of skiffs, it's also ridiculous that there are no guards in the new set of that vehicle which, combined with the wrong Boba figure, makes that set's figure selection also pretty terrible, especially with the egregious price). We had the Snowtroopers Battle Pack to fill the UCS AT-AT; the Khetanna needs something similar. -

Yeah my conditions are pretty similar. I really hope it has a figure selection comparable to (and hopefully in excess of) the Mos Eisley Cantina, and that the model is as good as the AT-AT in terms of having an accurate interior to the cross-sections book. Salacious Crumb looks terrible (as with all the glowy-eye figures like Ezra, Ahsoka, Hera, etc.) so I really hope none of the other figures in the set have those eyes, and I'm just glad I got Jabba's Palace with him in back in 2012 (it'd be a lot worse if this was the only version of Salacious; hopefully none of the figures which are new characters get ruined by those eyes). Might see how much he's worth to make a bit of money back if I do buy the set. -

And one of those would be an exclusive 1-day GWP when you spend £700 on the new UCS R5-D4. -

If it's like the previous lightsaber GWPs then it'll be just the big set itself (previous ones were only for Mos Eisley and the AT-AT). Very strange that they made a new head for the female Rebel- the one in the Yavin base is great and they could've reused that to save costs (to be clear I'm not complaining about a new head, just weird that it's so similar when they might as well have made a completely different one altogether for more diversity). -

You underestimate how far some kids go with details about their favourite characters. When I was 12 I could give a detailed list of, for example, the differences between ESB and RotJ Boba (yes I'm still annoyed about them getting him wrong in the skiff set). Maybe most kids won't notice, but plenty will, and it seems pretty dismissive to say they can't have nice accurate figures because they're young (and obviously that's ignoring the adult market for this stuff). Even then, those hypothetical kids who don't care? Well, the figure being accurate won't make them like it any less. It should be trivially easy to get these details right and please everyone. The less-invested ones still get their cool-looking figure, but the ones who do care can also be happy that it's accurate. -

Agreed! Stuff like Yularen's uniform, Fox's torso/legs, the 501st Jet Trooper's helmet and other similar issues wouldn't have cost a penny more to fix, just literally a few seconds of comparison with the source material and the touch of a button in whatever software they use to make the designs. Pricing and minifigure inclusions in sets are other issues, but they're clearly more profit-based. The inaccurate designs are just down to pure laziness. -

Ah in that case we have very few ranks, since a lot of the LEGO ones are the double-line versions. You sure? I thought it went Fleet Admiral > Admiral > Vice Admiral. That's how it is in real-world navies. As for more currently-relevant stuff, has anyone found the Sabine magazine with anything other than the 212th trooper? Usually there's variation for issues with a 2nd bag but haven't seen anything else so far. -

Source on that? But either way would there be any difference between the torsos? Presumably the next step down from Admiral is Vice-Admiral, and as we see with Rae Sloane that gives the same insignia as Piett but with a single column removed, meaning a regular Admiral would surely still have 6 columns? I guess it could be to do with code cylinders but those are apparently too difficult for the designers to get right anyway nowadays 🙄. In fact, the original Piett figure only has 2 cylinders when he should have 3; perhaps 2 cylinders is for a standard Admiral which means we actually have got that rank but not a proper Fleet Admiral? -

Isn't Piett's a standard Admiral? Or is he a Fleet Admiral? (Couldn't find much info on the difference tbh) -

Sabine mag is finally out in the UK. Unfortunately it's a 2-gift one so is a bit more expensive (£6.99) which is a little annoying as I was originally going to get a few of them to use as generic Mandos. So far all the ones I've seen have the 212th trooper as the 2nd gift; I'm going to wait and see if there is any variation before I buy as I really don't like that Clone design so for me it doesn't contribute anything to justify an extra £2 on the price. Yep, saw that on Reddit. Presumably people who have no idea how these things work.
