Heroica RPG - Quest #36: The Voracious Vault
Palathadric replied to Endgame's topic in The Heroica Archive
"We're not 'swords for hire.' Take myself, as an example. I don't wield a sword. "If you'd be so kind as to tell us where this 'Patriarch' is, I think we may take you up on your offer, but I don't think it will be as quick a fight as you made it out to be." -

"Okay, all, follow Daxus' course of action, if you please. Daxus, I promote you to second in command." -
I disagree. As my hero Master Obi-Wan in the recent film: Jedi Temple Mafia, said: resigning yourself to being lynched is more often than not a town-tell rather than a scum-tell. I won't bother posting the reasons again, because at this point it doesn't really matter. Robbins has done enough to appear suspicious for me to dismiss this ideology for the moment.

"If we're going to attempt to slay the eggs, then I suggest we go all out with the bombs and throw both our fire bombs, but maybe that's not such a good idea. Otherwise, if we all target the two live ones, I think we may be able to defeat them before the eggs hatch, thus preventing the Pupa from gaining the extra SP. What do you think?" -
Don't try to slip under the radar by siding against Robbins, Wright. You are very suspicious yourself, but not to Robbins' degree...yet. I don't particularly fancy the way you're jumping on him now, but I do think I understand it. Nevertheless, if we lynch him and he turns up town, you're moving more than a few notches up my scumlist. ...oh, wait a minute, you're in second place already.

"Well done, Daxus! Pardon me for not taking the lead. I was rendered a bit speechless by these "proggs" "breeding grounds." This place is disgusting. Attack men. Let's get these Larvae out of the way as quickly as possible before the eggs hatch." I fly over the larva on my broomstick turned cross and attack the Progg Larva from the back row. Battle Order: Erik Daxus Mizuki Pretzel -
I find it odd also that Robbins always seems to be jumping on the person who is a little bit under fire alongside him. First Mandel, then Wright.

And like the dude with the scummy hairstyle said, this comment is just And once again I agree with the Mr. Scummy Hair that we can never ever be 100% sure of our lynch candidate. Not even if a "cop" tells us so.
-
Ummm...when I originally posted the "janitor" thing, I was just saying that it would be interesting if you really had gotten the role, but you've really been acting suspicious in a whole lot of these posts. Here, for example, it seems like you're trying to get suspicions turned to someone else. I also don't see why the Purists would kill you at night. The Purists, whether you are among them or not, would probably love to keep you alive as you've been looking awfully scummy and are a potential lynch candidate.

"Let's go back to first room and see if we can open the door to the left of this door we came through, by using one of these keys," I suggest. "I believe, I do, but I don't have the equipment with me, unfortunately. It's been a long time...I may have forgotten." -
Well, it was as good a start as any. The accusations have to start somewhere, even if it's in the most ridiculous of places, or so I'm told.

"Not a problem. So, Daxus, how do you find the underworld? Me, personally, I detest it strongly. No light. All is dark and evil and the deeper you go into the heart of the earth. The further into demon's lair you enter. But what are the rest of your feelings about this vault?" -

"Many thanks Daxus. I took the second key as well. You can hold onto it, if you like, but I think they're quest items and not items we will use besides to open doors." Endgame, I hope you caught what was going on here. Legoman273 and I have updated our signatures accordingly. -

I sniff the essences to see if I can gain a knowledge of their chemical properties. I turn to Daxus. "The fire bombs are worth 10 gold, and the smoke 5. Would you be willing to do a trade and add 5 gold on top of it?" -
I knew I should have dyed my hair brown. I can judge most books by their covers.

Nice MOC. I like the concept. I didn't know that forestman/peasant torso came in blue.

Wow! Is it possible that our Janitor, Ensign Robbins, could, in fact, be the scum janitor too? Don't mean to push you pal. I'd like to apologize for the poor security last night. I really can't be blamed. I was guarding my post like I was supposed to, but that assassin must have crept in from a different way. I'll do my best to make sure no such thing happens in the future.

Looking fantastic, but I'd like to see it from a different angle to it more from the side and how it looks like that. -

"Sorry, Daxus, I thought you already had a Nostrum, but I now realize it was a mead instead. I didn't want you drinking too much in this quest, but if you really want it feel free to barter it off of Mizuki, if you can." I hand one of the green essences to each one of us and then give one of each of the blue ones to the rogues while Erik and I take a yellow one each. "25 is not divisible by 4. Ah, well, we'll each get 6 gold, and I'll take the last piece for you. Consider yourself one quarter of the way to the first stage of your salvation." Monk Pretzel gives 6 gold to everyone and takes 7 for himself. "Alternatively, I could take it all now, and we can divide it up with all the gold we loot by the time this quest is over." "Is that a door at the end of the room? If so, let's open it, if not let's go back to the main room." -
Not really. You seem like a pleasant chap yourself. I have been a bit suspicious of Chief Engineer Lieutenant Commander Matthew Wilder's scummy hairstyle though. It makes me afraid. But shhh, don't tell him I said that. I am afraid he may try to fire me.

For some reason I was under the impression that he had gotten an entire new team to man the space craft. I am so relieved.
-
What?!? You're already leaving? Does that mean we are not actually going to space? Or is it just a team of pilots you brought in?

I take the tonic, since no one else can use it, and the key. I hand the potion to Daxus. I then check out that round red thing on the right. It doesn't look like much, so when that's done, I'll check those drinks, or whatever they are, on the far left. -

I'm assuming that on another planet/solar system/whatever, we may not be able to use weapons, for one reason or another. Strong teeth may be handy.
