I have reopened the topic. Please stay on topic and don't turn this into a price discussion again. -

[CONTEST] Who would join a GBC contest?
Jim replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I will repeat what I said in the generic contest discussion topic; I am perfectly fine with EB running a GBC contest, but I won't be managing it. Someone else needs to take initiative. There has been talk about rules and stuff, but nobody is taking charge. -

True that. And let me be clear; I would love to get printed parts on my UCS and flagship sets. But unfortunately, this won't be happening any time soon Anyway, sorry for derailing this topic. Let's talk CAT again. -

I understand your point. Sets for younger builders tend to goet more printed parts, because they get played with more. Duplo is a good example. Printed parts only. A 700 euro Star Destroyer will sit in a cabinet, so stickers are "fine". It is an interesting discussion, but the reasoning from TLG's perspective is not as "ridiculous" as one might think. But I do understand when you pay top dollar, you expect printed parts. So, it does make sense, but not from your point of view -

True that! I absolutely agree with you on that one. But that would mean 20 (or so) extra parts for this set. Now sure how many new printed parts we got this year in Technic. -
Step 1. Become a LAN Ambassador. Step 2 (if step 1. has been completed). Contact me and I will get you the tag. I will ask you to upload an avatar pic though

Printing or not printing isn't the issue cost wise. The main problem is that a printed part is a new part and TLG simply can't have so much new parts. The warehouses can't handle so many parts. Otherwise TLG would have thousands of new parts each year. So each year, every theme get's a certain number of printed parts. This is something a lot of people don't see. They simply want printed parts....and that's simply not possible. It will be applying sticker for this review -

Obviously, I can't share any details yet, but I can share that I am enjoying the build a lot Halfway through the build now. Hopefully I will be able to publish my review next weekend, but I can't make any promises. I will be an elaborate review, even without the app. -

Thanks for the info. It's very useful. I might use this in my review -
It has been merged with Technic. Due to inactivity it’s better to show the great models in the Technic forum. Most of them are somewhat Model Team anyway. We forgot to make a frontpage announcement, sorry.

You are absolutely right. However, the official box pictures showed D11 without the T. But this has been changed on the final box. The website and box image on the website still show D11 https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/app-controlled-cat-d11-bulldozer-42131 -

I hate to burst your bubble but this Sunday is definitely a no go. I'm aiming for next Sunday and that will probably be a challenge (the app won't be available til the 15th btw) And apparently we can change the title back to D11T -

Scale Modeling Forum future?
Jim replied to Milan's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I’d simply call it [MOC] and omit the tags. It’s a great model and for me it doesn’t really matter whether it’s a scale model or not. We now have a single forum for both -
Scale Modeling Forum future?

We were stuck between a rock and a hard place. At the end of the day, I think the great MOCs will get the attention they deserve in this forum. -
