  1. That's basically what I changed, except for the fourth motor, but maybe you are right. I like simplicity. Okay noted. I will change the rules to the final version. I like to keep the rules as simple as possible. And like Erik said; you can still use two motors for the transformation, but that will costs you one of the other motors.
  2. I have decided to slightly alter the rules. Check the topic to find out the details.
  3. Okay, I have decided to change the rules a bit. RULE CHANGE You can use a maximum of three motors. At least one needs to be used for the transformation, but you can use all three if you want. Transformation can be done in multiple stages. Pneumatics are not permitted. If you pair/combine two motors (for more power) for one of the transformation functions, you can use a maximum of four motors. When you combine two motors, you can add gears/diffs to connect the motors, as long as they drive the same function simultaneously (combining the motors is only to obtain some extra power)
  4. Hehe Remote devices can be as simple as a PF remote. It doesn't have to be a smart device. I will make that more clear in the rules. Yes, that is allowed. That is a difficult question. The idea was to have a single motor do the transformation and have two additional motors for extra functions. However, that might be a bit limiting. QUESTION! I wonder how other people think about this? We can alter the rules to use a maximum of three motors for the entire model and you can do what you want. You can use four if you pair/combine two motors for more power on a single function. If you look at my previous comment (with the question) I am leaning towards simply allowing three motors and do what you want. That gives everybody the most flexibility. With the extra option to pair/combine two motors for more power.
  5. You can use additional gearing as long as both motors end up driving the same (single) function. That is a good question. That is not what we are looking for and it would allow for an entirely different setup. I don’t think we should go down the pneumatics road (since you can power a large number of cylinders at the same time.). So that’s a no for pneumatics. I will update the rules. (unless a lot of people think otherwise) Next question is probably about LA’s. Those are allowed. Also an interesting question. You want to separate the battery box from the model? The idea behind the contest is indeed wireless controls, like the “app controlled LEGO version”.
  6. Do you mean for the Edu version of the software? I remember something like that. You can simply use the retail version. Good question 👍🏼
  7. Here you go! The contest has been published. A bit hasty, so don't hesitate to ask questions in the discussion topic for the contest.
  8. We have discussed the basic rules for this contest, but I can imagine that there will be additional questions. I haven't given some edge cases much thought. Let me know if you have additional questions.
  9. [PROMO IMAGE TO BE CREATED, BUT MOST LIKELY TO BE FORGOTTEN] TECHNIC TRANSFORMING VEHICLE CONTEST - INFORMATION TOPIC This contest is something I have been thinking about for a while, but I always figured it to be too difficult. Recently a rumored set list for 2022 appeared and to my surprise there was an "app-controlled transforming vehicle" on the list. This immediately reminded me of the vintage 8852 - Robot, a yellow transforming truck into a robot. DESCRIPTION Create a vehicle that transforms into something else (like another type of vehicle, robot, object). The model needs to be motorized and it needs at least one motor for the transformation. You can add two optional motors for the transformation or for auxiliary functions (like propulsion and steering or another function). The maximum number of motors is three. The model can have some manual functions, like opening doors, hood etc, but this model is about remotely controlling the better part of it. The transformation needs to be remote-controlled. The deadline date is Monday, the 31st of January 2022. The contest will be closed on Tuesday, the 1st of February, OR LATER. Disclaimer: I will close the contest when I see fit, and when I have the time to process the results. This can be later than the deadline date. Please don't complain about this not being fair and all. RULES AND REGULATIONS The following section describes the contest-specific and general rules and regulations. But before that, please take notice of a simple motto regarding the Eurobricks Contests: CONTESTS ARE FOR FUN! Of course, there's competition, but at the end of the day, LEGO is just a hobby and the main goal for each of us is to have fun! CONTEST SPECIFIC RULES AND REGULATIONS It has to be a vehicle. You need to use at least one motor for the transformation. You can use a maximum of three motors. You can create multiple stages of transformation, using more than a single motor. You can use two other motors to power auxiliary functions or for transformation. Pneumatics are not permitted. There are no part or size limitations. Using some system parts is permitted, but the model should be considered studless! Model Team style building is not permitted. You can use system parts but keep it mainly Technic (studless in this case). 3rd party Strings, Hoses and Rubber Bands are permitted. Mindstorms and LEGO Electronics are permitted. SBrick, Buwizz and PFxBrick are permitted. 3rd party tires are not permitted. Other 3rd party parts are not permitted. GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS Each entry needs to have a name (no name, no entry). The contest is open to all EB members (also new members). Members can be banned from voting (when vote rigging is suspected). Voting rules will be explained later in the voting topic. One entry per member. Entries need to be new (never posted anywhere previously or shown at an event/LUG meeting). Only physical builds, so no LDD or other virtual entry. If you have any doubts about the suitability of your entry contact me, or Milan. All entries are to include only real LEGO. No clone brands, 3rd party parts, or digital entries allowed. Custom stickers are allowed. No cutting, sculpting or modifying parts. Entries are to be placed in the entry topic in this forum. Entries not in the entry topic are not eligible for voting. The entry post may be edited at any time up to the end of the contest, so feel free to make improvements if you wish. The contest might be closed later than the deadline. Don't complain about this not being fair. You have enough time to build. Don't ask for more time. We reserve the right to disqualify any entry that does not follow these rules. These rules can be changed whenever we see fit to ensure that people follow the intent of the contest. Jury members are not eligible to participate. WHAT DO I NEED TO ENTER? All participants need to create a discussion topic and create a post in the entry topic. DISCUSSION TOPIC A discussion topic starting with [TC21]. A discussion topic needs to show some actual progress (i.e. pictures of the build in progress) and should NOT be used to "reserve an idea". ENTRY POST The entry post in the entry topic should contain: Entry name One or more images (max 4). You can have combined pictures (4 in 1) as long as the picture isn't bigger than 1024x1024. An embedded video showing the transformation (and possibly other functions) is mandatory this time Link to your discussion topic VOTING The voting scheme will be announced later. More details about how voting goes down will follow. Voting criteria are (in no particular order, except the first and most important criterium): Mainly motorized functions Best transformation Quality of the build. Looks (shape, color scheme, etc). Functionality. Originality. PRIZES At this time I am not sure about the possible prizes, but I will obviously do my best. More information will follow.

  11. REVIEW - 10284 - CAMP NOU - FC BARCELONA INTRODUCTION Welcome to my review of Camp Nou, the stadium of FC Barcelona. Being a Barca fan, I was excited this being the next stadium to be released (the first one was Old Trafford). And I was even more excited to be able to review this set. After the initial excitement (I hadn't seen the pictures yet), I realized that Camp Nou is actually quite a boring stadium. Seeing the first pictures confirmed my fears. At first sight, this seems to be a quite repetitive build. I do understand that most of the stadiums have some repetition, but the Old Trafford stadium looks like a more interesting build. I haven't built that one, so I can't compare it to this one. About me being a Barca fan; I have been a fan for a long time, but I absolutely lost some of my love the last couple of years. They seriously screwed things up. But for the sake of this review, I like to remember the good old days when Koeman scored his free kick in the "Champions League" final in 1992, when it was still called "European Cup 1". Obviously, the Messi era wasn't too bad either PICTURES Pictures can be clicked to view hi-res versions. My Flickr album contains all the photos taken for this review. DISCLAIMER The CEE Team of TLG has provided this set. It's not my goal to promote this set. It's my goal to give you an honest opinion about it. Therefore, the opinion in this review is my own and is in no way linked to TLG. SET INFORMATION Number: 10284 Title: Camp Nou - FC Barcelona Theme: Creator Expert Released: 2021 Part Count: 5509 Box Dimensions: 58,0 cm x 47,5 x 16,5 cm Weight: > 5 kg Set Price (RRP): £299.99 / $349.99 / €329.99 Price per Part: £0.054 / $0.064 / €0,060 Links: Brickset, Bricklink THE BOX The box is exactly the same size as the Technic CAT. Weighing in over 5kg it's quite heavy. The back shows the stadium will consist of a pitch and four quarter stadium parts. CONTENTS OF THE BOX The box contains: 1x Inner box 1x Cart board envelop containing the manual and stickers 2x Half a pitch tile 42x Numbered bag 1x Unnumbered bag containing a numbered bag The picture below shows the contents of the inner box. The envelop contains two booklets and a sticker sheet. The sticker sheet contains all the letters used to write "Mes que un club" which translates to "More than a club" and "FC Barcelona". The score you see is their 5-0 win over Real Madrid, the rival of Barca. At the beginning of the first booklet there is some interesting information about the history of the club. BAGS In total there are 43 bags for a total of 32 steps. One of the bags is unnumbered, but it contains a numbered bag. I don't recall ever seeing this. PART LIST The complete part list for all 5509 parts. THE BUILD You start by building the pitch. Except for the corners, the pitch looks the same as the Old Trafford one, which makes sense. However, the midfield section is built using different parts. Old Trafford uses a single tiles, where Camp Nou uses three tiles. The picture below shows the shape of one of the quarter foundation sections. You will build four sections and slide them together. To be honest; this is basically what you will be building most of the time. Rinse and repeat. There is a slight variation in building the top ring, but the first and second are nearly identical. Each quarter stadium consists of 11 sections, so you will be building 44 sections. And yes, that S is upside down Completed half of the stadium. Each side contains some offices/business units. The rods aren't positioned correctly. They need to touch the building. Same stage, from a slightly different angle. The penultimate quarter with the partial roof (awning) and one of the dugouts. By this time you will probably be done with building the sections. After building the last quarter and some railing on the top, you have finished the stadium! Except for the truck, there aren't a lot of extra details. The top ring with the lights, score boards and partial roof looks okay and adds some charme to the stadium. And obviously the finished set does look impressive, due to its size. I do like how the partial roof (or rather, a big awning) has been built. That looks great and it would have made the stadium look cooler if the actual stadium had a this around the entire stadium. One of the pillars has been slightly bent when attaching the railing. Since the real stadium is almost falling apart, this adds to the realism hehe A picture from the other side of the stadium showing the entire awning and both dugouts. All in all I do like the end result. The stadium looks properly impressive, but there isn't a lot to be seen. SUMMARY Writing this review felt kinda boring and I am sorry if the review IS a bit boring. But there was simply not a lot to talk about. The build is repetitive and it's not the most enjoyable. It feels like something you need to do in order to get to the end result. So this build is not about the journey, but about the destination. And is that destination worth it? I am not really sure about it. If you are a big Barca or soccer/football fan and have some display space, you might want to add this to your collection. If you are planning on making your own stadium, this may be a nice starter kit, a rather expensive starter kit though. Some people will be over the moon with this set and other people could not care less. I am somewhat in the middle after building the set. Before I started building this set, I was contemplating on getting Old Trafford to start my stadium collection, but after this build, I think I will leave it at that. Maybe I will change my mind if the rumored Real Madrid stadium has been released, but I highly doubt it. I do appreciate TLG releasing these sets, but I will probably do with some pictures in the future. To end with a more positive note; the final model is impressive and the overall design is on par with the real stadium. it's instantly recognizable. So this is a proper LEGO version of the Camp Nou stadium! PROS Impressive model Iconic stadium CONS Repetitive build Not a lot of intricate details SCORE How do I rate this set? 8 DESIGN Design is impressive and on par with the real stadium. 6 BUILDING EXPERIENCE Too repetitive to be really enjoyable. 6 FEATURES No extra features besides being a stadium. 6 PLAYABILITY This being a display set, it hardly has any playability. 7 PARTS Decent parts pack, but not a lot of variation. 7 VALUE FOR MONEY Expensive, but you do get a lot of parts. 6,7 ONLY FOR TRUE BARCA FANS
  12. This set is quite special. Thanks for doing this review. Was interesting to find out a bit more about this theme.
  13. Yeah, that's a bit overdue. No promises, but I can try to get it up-and-running today.
  14. For something in between the large turntable and the bigger versions of these racks. I think they will prove quite useful for moc'ing.
  15. In this case it doesn't really matter which currency you use....will always be expensive
  16. Sweet! I will buy a couple of AT-AT's to get more of them. Does this post need a smiley?!
  17. I missed the smaller versions? Where can I find those?
  18. Okay, thanks for the clarification!
  19. Yeah, that is a nice touch. Could have mentioned that in my review.
  20. Yeah, the stickers aren't too bad.
  21. REVIEW - 40488 - GWP COFFEE STAND INTRODUCTION Recently, I got an offer to review a GWP (Gift with Purchase) set. I had never done a GWP review, so I accepted the offer. Not having any information, I was interested what this set would be. Turned out to be this coffee stand. As a coffee enthusiast (not a connaisseur) I can appreciate this set. Let's get that coffee brewing. PICTURES Pictures can be clicked to view hi-res versions. My Flickr album contains all the photos taken for this review. DISCLAIMER The CEE Team of TLG has provided this set. It's not my goal to promote this set. It's my goal to give you an honest opinion about it. Therefore, the opinion in this review is my own and is in no way linked to TLG. SET INFORMATION Number: 40488 Title: GWP Coffee Stand Theme: City Released: 2021 Part Count: ? Box Dimensions: 15,5 cm x 13,7 x 5,7 cm Weight: 178 gr Set Price (RRP): free (gift with purchase) Price per Part: £0.000 / $0.000 / €0.000 Links: Brickset, Bricklink THE BOX The front of the box shows the entire scene, where the customer and barista interact. Pay attention to the scene on the box. I will get back to that later. The back shows more or less the same scene a couple of minutes later, where the lady is enjoying her coffee. CONTENTS OF THE BOX The box contains: 1x Instruction booklet 1x Sticker sheet 3x Unnumbered bag The sticker sheet is somewhat crumpled, but nothing serious. HIGHLIGHTED PARTS Since I am more into Technic than other themes, I am not entirely sure whether this is a new part, but it's new for me. I had never seen it before. I have tried some Bricklink-Fu, but couldn't find this modified brick. PART LIST The entire part list, which contains 147-odd parts (had to count them manually). MINIFIGS The set contains two minifigs, a female customer in need of some quality coffee. And when you think of quality coffee, you think of a beanie wearing hipster barista. The hipster only has a single face with some facial hear and smile. The female coffee drinker has an alternate school teacher like stern face. THE BUILD What I like about these kinds of builds, are the cool little details. The coffee machine is built using only seven parts. This picture also shows the 1x2 bricks with studs on one side. Since this is a fairly small set, the build is done before you know it. Took me about the same time as drinking a good cup of coffee. The completed build is shown below. What I do like about this set is the logo attached to the roof of the stand. I also like the stand itself, but I would have loved to see a coffee-mug-shaped stand. Something a bit more special than this one. I am aware that this is probably not feasible, using around 150 parts, so I understand why it's a simple stand. It would be nice to do a mini contest to build a coffee stand using only 150 parts. The usual left-over parts, which indicate I haven't missed a step hehe. The back of the stand is fairly simple, without many details. And the stand apparently doesn't need a door. Using the Technic pieces isn't the most elegant solution if you ask me. At the beginning of the review I was talking about the scene depicted on the box. I find it rather odd that we are building a slightly different scene than the one on the box. The cups and two bottles are located differently and the customer isn't holding her phone. Obviously, these are minor details, but I wonder why the scene built using the booklet isn't depicted on the box. I'm pretty sure this happens all the time, but this time it caught my attention. SUMMARY You can't look a gift-horse in the mouth, as the saying goes. But since I am reviewing this horse, I can look it in the mouth hehe. And when I looked the horse in the mouth, it looked good. I like this set for what it is. This makes a perfect addition to your city. There's always room for a stand like this. Do I think this is the best design for a coffee stand? No I don't. I would have loved to get some sort of coffee mug stand. But given the part count, I do think the stand looks good enough. For once, I do think the two stickers are nice and possibly useful when building your own coffee shop or stand. All things considered, this is a nice gift, but it wouldn't make me run to a LEGO store or the LEGO website. PROS The logo on the roof is cool Your very own hipster minifig It's a free set! CONS The stand is a bit too generic The usage of Technic parts feels kinda out of place SCORE How do I rate this set? 7 DESIGN A bit too generic to score higher. 7 BUILDING EXPERIENCE Build was short, but fun. 6 FEATURES No special features. 7 PLAYABILITY Provides some basic LEGO City playability. 7 PARTS Unless I missed them, not a lot of special parts. 9 VALUE FOR MONEY It's free. Well kind of, because you do need to spend some money. 7,2 NICE ADDITION TO YOUR CITY
  22. Instead of streaming, there is a download to brick option. I think I mentioned it in my review:
  23. Yeah absolutely. That's what I meant. I'm using Flickr myself, so I know the drill....and the pitfalls Most definitely! And thanks for joining.
  24. Thakns for the very enjoyable review! I love the write-up. Made me laugh on a couple of occasions. I love how you setup this review. And I do love the set. Having multiple architecture sets, I really need to add this one to my collection. Absolutely
