The (original) model is missing the funnel to fill the drum: Also, I am building a second, less colourful version: Functions are identical to first attempt. I mainly did some cleanup on he chassis. Manual control for the drum has been swapped sidewise. The lower part of the cabin isn't done yet. (I would prefer to get a drum in white or yellow instead of dark(earth) blue.)

[TC18] golf car

Since then I have rebuild the cart in a more friendly colour: I tried to figure out a roof / sunshade but none of my technic parts looked good: They would result in a construction that would tower above the cart. Perhaps a piece of cloth from another LEGO topic would be better suited. -
Made some progress: 1. Gearbox for drum set up with unidirectional turning when driven from rear axle. There is a ca. 50 cm (distance) lag between forward/backward change and start of rotation. Speed should be OK. 2. Steering axle setup. I believe that I got better steering angle and thus smaller turning cycle. 3. Cabin can be tilted forward, doors can be opened, and mirrors added.

I would like to mention 42108 Mobile Crane: It is less big than 42082 which might be a better introduction for a beginner. Also, as many reviews point out, it is not a perfect model. I think that this may motivate to disassemble and build something different from it. There are quite a few C-models on Rebrickable. You could augment this with 42097 Compact Crawler Crane which I consider as instructive model. It features same main colour as the former crane.

I haven't seen a box picture yet. I didn't download the box pictures as there appeared no more relevant information. The setup of the HOG control for steering prohibits tilting of the cabin. This is my quick guess for the pipe: Note that is is attached to the chassis quite low. Therefore folding is not reasonable here. In the picture above it is obvious, that the chute is fixed at its upper end with a support at the lower. Soem of these are modular so that you can use different attachments: (Conneting to a 150 mm tube to increase reach. The original chuts is on the right mudguard.)

From sets picture: Does it fit the size of balls used for GBC? That can be fixed easily: This is +5 pieces per side -

I built the chassis a couple of months ago. Already the first gear 'box' (starting at step 33 on page 24) had considerable friction: at the end of this sub-assembly the gears were not turning easily from any input. At that time I tought that it might get better if more stabilizing beams were added in later stages to straigthen out the setup. When chassis was complete (around step 321, p 197). I added the wheels for a test drive. There was a huge lag. You will need to push by about 1 m before cylinders in motor start moving. I didn't have the cracking noise but friction in the gear train was obvious in all settings except for the 'lowest' transmission setting. Therefore I got disappointed and decided to try the (mentioned) improved version from Rebrickable. I swapped all the tan 20t gears for black ones. However I didn't pay attention to the part number (18575 <> 32269). Even then I got some friction that I stopped. There is improvement as more gear settings appear to work OK but not all of them: I guess 50..75%. I have put the chassis aside not knowing if I would like to continue or just add the parts to my stock... -
I would like to add that you will get full elevation range when using the XL actuators: Lower and upper limit is imposed by superstructure. However, in my setup there is sometimes a cracking noise if the boom is lowered below horizontal position (0°): I also made a small support for the boom when travelling:

I became fan of lego Technic when I got 851 Tractor 40+ years ago. Nowadays I mainly adapt (MOD) official sets (the medium sized ones) to my likings: Modification of functions, colour variants. I've been reading Technic forum for some time now. My main interests are building technics, construction machines, and set announcements. But only when TC18 contest was announced I considered to sign up: Finally this was a topic I possibly could make an entry. Best Regards Wolfgang

[TC18] golf car

We've rummaged through my meager supply of non-Technic parts and found something simple: However, we would have preferred a white roof, with red or yellow stripes. -
A couple of days ago my (almost) retired technic-"tecs" asked me to build a small car so that they don't have to walk through my storage area. My plan was to have something that resembles a golf car(t) scaled adapted to technic figure scale. I didn't use anything real as blueprint. Only function will be front steering. (I only signed up yesterday and noticed just this morning that account is active)
