Thanks B2B. That gives me hope it might become more available with time. (Other stores invariably charge less than the S@H.) Wouldn't have expected Sainsburys to carry lego, but then a couple of our drugstores do, and I wouldn't have expected that either.
-
Speaking of things on shelves around the world, the Chess set is available only at the S@H here in Germany (and ebay) and Fawkes is hardly more available. How are those two sets doing in other countries?
-
The mounted elf heads (want!), the dead Puffskein nest under the couch, the doxies in the curtains, Slytherin's locket, Kreacher! A piano so Hermione can teach Ron. The robes that attack Ron, the clock that shot at people. Extendable ears so the twins can try to eavesdrop on OotP sessions... This would be a fun set. I think the Boggart was in the desk, not a cupboard.
-
I think Grimmauld Place would make an excellent D2C in the modular format of Diagon Alley. I could see us getting an Advent calendar that expands on it, perhaps the scene with Arthur in the wheelchair after Nagini's attack.
-
Oh, the buildable chocolate frog card is an excellent point! I was thinking the chocolate frog tiles (and all the previous portrait artwork stickers) pretty much guaranteed it would never be a minifig, but you're right about the similarities. Fingers crossed. @BrickFunatic Katie might appear in a Hogsmeade bridge set? (I'd like that set, I've seen some nice MOCs.) And Angelina (and Alicia) seem(s) likely to appear in a CMF or something, because they're clearly keen on boosting the diversity of the minifigs, so I wouldn't count them out even if the Quidditch set appeared later. On the other hand, they could do the same with Keeper Ron, etc., so...

I'd be thrilled with either common room version. (Great ideas!) Maybe go with the Sirius one and then the next year's Advent Calendar could flesh it out and make it Christmassy? Shrieking Shack set seems a lock. Like the 2021 Hogsmeade, it would help them to still appeal to people who otherwise dislike the reboot. I'd expect Scabbers, possibly Ron, Snape and (if we have the boys) probably Hermione as well. (I honestly wouldn't mind if they went back to alternating which sets had which of the trio in them in the interests of a more diverse minifig collection.) I really hope they don't combine the ship and the Second Task. One is crucial to the story the other feels like it's mostly just about trying to take advantage of the HP-extraneous interests of a segment of the market. (Boys like boats and trains... ) While perfectly fair as market strategies go to offer the Durmstrang set, combining them is a high hurdle price-wise and would exclude many from owning a key scene. I can't quite see them offering Gringotts as a D2C, unless it came with other buildings that made it very expensive. It's such an iconic location (just think of the amusement park advertising) that if it's remotely affordable, I think they'll make it a regular set. I feel like the OotP and HBP Quidditch team lineups have better known characters, and could see the sets being delayed until they cover those films. (I'd like Keeper Ron, Chaser Ginny and some of the better known Slytherins, Goyle, Crabbe or Zabini.)

Broken link. try this: https://imgur.com/gallery/4RWnUTz Nice set up. I particularly like the bridge.

You're welcome. Yes, it's a digital MOC as well, so there are additional parts, like all the sloped grey pieces that make it look like it's sitting on a little cliff. Making a digital model can help you plan the pieces you will need to get to build it from what you have. That really helps you save on shipping. > Why do this right in the middle of the range? The problem is the designers have said this isn't the middle of the series, but that 2021 represents a "soft reboot", so we're sort of back at the beginning again. If you look at the earlier series of HP lego, they redid things, too, and rather frequently. (There've been seven different Hogwarts castles over the last 20 years, three in the last four alone.) We've already seen our second Great Hall since 2018, and this winter we'll get our second Clock Tower, so I guess it made sense to them to change the look some more to make it seem less like a re-hash. But even without the green roofs, it was always going to be difficult to display them together, because (@Textorix model notwithstanding) it's kind of difficult to make sense of a display with multiple variants of the same builds. Other than that, the designers have also said they felt they'd covered pretty much all the iconic locations in Hogwarts, so we weren't likely to see things like the Bell Towers anyway, regardless of roof colour. (I'm still hoping for a bridge set like the 2011 (battle of) Hogwarts set.) But if you're interested in trying to build your own missing buildings, our @Micmac had posted some plans with parts list on rebrickable, and there are plenty of HP MOCs here on Eurobricks to give you ideas.

Hey, Paul. That piece doesn't exist in dark grey, it's available in flat silver from two 2017 sets and sand green from the HP 2021 line. (The picture you're looking at is a render of a digital model.) You can find some of the pieces to swap out on the lego bricks and pieces, for example in the parts to the Great Hall. (It won't let me use the direct link, so select country and enter 75954 for the set number, and you can order the matching roof parts directly from lego, or try bricklink.) @deskp had also done an angled build that I really like that managed to incorporate some height and the bridge. You sound like you might like that, too.

Goodness knows I've tried, and I say that as someone who hates shopping. The lego store didn't have it when I was there. Smyths didn't, nor did the other department stores... One of the local drugstores theoretically does, but never when I'm there. They've had (at least) two shipments of them, and been completely cleaned out both times I arrived not long after. It's been frustrating. They have tons of Harry polybags though. They seem to be having trouble communicating to their person in charge of ordering that Hermione is the queen (yaaass), and for once they need to keep more of her in stock than St. Potter. (Tbf, he's been around for over a year, eventually the market is saturated.)

And the great thing is when Gringotts inevitably comes, and it will, it won't matter at all what style their Hogwarts has. It just needs to fit in with their Diagon Alley street view. It sounds sort of like that "Build Your Own Adventure" book. If they offer build suggestions, too, that could be cool. Thanks, @BrickFunatic.
-
Who says they couldn't repeat colours though? They have a 2x2 tile with a symbol to distinguish the books from one another.
-
That's interesting, because when you look at what they include in the classroom builds (both 2018/20 & 2021) vs the Moment sets, we tend to see more actual stuff for, more fleshing out of the classroom in the Moment sets. The regular builds are more pared back by contrast. I noticed I tend to need more studs on a baseplate to display the books' contents sensibly than the other classrooms have. That said, I'm all in favour of the pitched roof to display Lupin's DADA classroom skeleton. Not at all. I'm pleased as punch.

Pro: None of the early press mentioned the devil's snare, nor the weird little potions thing under the roof, and while the harp was mentioned, it wasn't in the context of filling an empty room. (I was thinking along the same lines, so I double checked.) Fluffy himself has a high piece count freed up for the Infirmary. Contra: the Fluffy set is practically empty (turkey leg, harp, and potions camp), and has effectively only 4 of the 8x8 modules (or five in a pinch if you count the tower), so three filled ones probably kind of tracks. Fluffy Encounter also squeezed in one pitched and one tower roof, so perhaps they can make something reminiscent of the clock tower instead for the same price, but six modules while including the clock face feels like something of a stretch, especially when they'd really need to put something in those lower modules to give them a little context. One possibility if a lower level were included, they could mix eras in the set and give us the flying keys or one of the other challenges, like how the 2018 Great Hall has the basilisk and Fawkes, while also having the boat the firsties arrive in, Sorting Hat, Quirrell and Mirror of Erised.

I like you already. Welcome to de-lurkdom. (Also thanks @lego_guyon02 and @THELEGOBATMAN for the tent responses.)

Yeah, I'd mentioned Burbage's line more as a joke (as if a single sentence justified a fig...) and then went back and watched the scene and no longer felt like kidding. It's easy having not seen it in... what's it been, ten, fifteen years? to reduce it to her getting gobbled by a snake, which in the abstract seems comical; in the presentation, not so much. (Side note, they really did a great job conveying everyone's fear of Voldemort in that scene, Lucius' in particular. *brrr*) I very much want to see more ghosts in the future. Like many of us here I live in Europe. I was wandering around a castle just last week, and there are several very close by; for me (ymmv) the castle wasn't what made Hogwarts special. It was things like the floating candles, the owls and especially the ghosts drifting around that made it something truly different and magical. For atmosphere it really doesn't matter so much if they never spoke, just that they were there. It often feels like that goes under-appreciated by some of the decision makers. (But then I'd also prefer some random suits of armour now and again to yet another Harry, Hermione and Ron in still more Gryffindor robes, so we're clearly not on the same page...) Pince I want need for that magnificent hat. (emphasis mine) I've asked before, but don't think anyone answered: has there ever been a (lego) tent you lot liked as a set?

I think Lupin's room makes more sense as one of the new modules instead of the Moment books. That way it can have a skeleton suspended from the ceiling. It would be nice to get another dementor, but the scene with Boggart Snape was so much better, so now I'm torn. I think someone here had done a nice MOC of that skeleton, does anyone remember who / where? Speaking roles: Didn't Burbage have that one line? "Severus, please..." (far too dark, I know) [ETA: Well, I've checked. There was moaning and a second line: We're friends. A very atmospherically dark scene. (I haven't watched those films often.)] The trunk is sounding a little like the "Build Your Own Adventure" book set. I've mixed feelings there if it's too stingy in the parts offered I could see them revisiting Moments in the future with the four Houses as common rooms, then a few years later perhaps as their dorms. There was plenty of source material available to create the rooms in the various video games, but I'm not sure how the rights issues play out. Thanks for the answer on the scene with Pince. Yes, where she accuses him of writing in the textbook and completely loses the plot. (I like people who take the care of their books seriously. ) Yes, but the portraits are animated, so that makes some sense, I think. There've been several MOCs that way, and I think it suits nicely. *I* want Marge. (And her pesky pup, too) There's a nice MOC on rebrickable that captures her well.

I was pleased to hear they're continuing the Moment series, and am looking forward to Divination in particular. I really wish we'd get Padma in a Ravenclaw uniform, because I could use more House diversity, but as even the films didn't bother with that little detail, it seems unlikely. DADA will be a more difficult sell for me. (Not one of my favourite scenes, but I'm sure I'll pick it up on sale eventually. I'm a sucker that way.) I'm still hoping there's a ferret included, but perhaps we'll see that in a CMF down the line... Also very pleased to finally be getting a Poppy Pomfrey. (And Skele-grow? Pretty please and thank you.) Given the piece count, I think it must be larger, at least vertically, than the Fluffy set, so I'm reserving judgment until I see it. Encounter with Fluffy was a little difficult to describe as well, because it was so empty, so perhaps this is just one of those things. (I mean, how many pieces can they use just to make beds and medical supplies??) The inclusion of Moody's DADA also has me hopeful we'll see Lupin in a Shrieking Shack this summer, which would be a nice extension of the Hogsmeade set started this year. Then perhaps the next year (2023) we could see a Hogsmeade Station and a Thestral carriage (was that scene OotP or HBP?) with the inevitable Hogwarts Express re-make. That would be a way to keep fans of the 2018 design sweet, including things that aren't limited to the one Hogwarts style or the other, and cover some ground the 2018 series didn't. (And 2023 I'd like the scene with the HBP text in the library with Irma Pince, but I fear that was only in the books... Does anyone recall?) Pfft. Have you seen our want lists? And that right there is why it would make a rotten book set (and I say that as a fan of the series). Neither creature fits well in the book format with much of anything else.
-
Sounds like there might be something in the suitcase to allow you to make your own common room, so maybe there's a hufflepuff uniform after all?
-
A sticker sheet as a selling point??
-
I was thinking maybe a thestral drawn carriage as a small set, but I guess that's OotP. Second task could be small enough, I guess. The 2005 version only had 154 pieces. Or if they're sticking with moments or the H2021 modules, I still think a third year DADA with Lupin and Boggart Snape is likely sooner or later, and sooner seems to make sense... Or maybe Ferret Draco and Moody... Ten more minutes? Other guesses, anyone? edit: Okay, no Ferret. But! Pomfrey! Finally!
-
Meh, please not another Cho or Cedric (unless he's in his bathing suit for the second task). Other than that, it sounded pretty good, but I've pretty much hit the saturation point on both of those minifigs. There were members of Dumbledore's Army that would be so easy to make with existing pieces even. Michael Corner, Terry Boot, Anthony Goldstein, Ernie MacMillan, a younger version of Hannah Abbott, an older version of Susan Bones, oh, and while we're at it, Blaise Zabini, Millicent Bulstrode, and Lee Jordan... And while I'm wishing, an Accessory Pack of the missing House ghosts (Bloody Baron, Grey Lady, the Fat Friar) and Peeves to round out the collection, please and cheers. And yes, I know the designers have already kibboshed my dreams of Peeves. (Too cruel by half. ) I assume the same arguments apply to the Friar at least. But if they can make such a specific set like this year's Accessory Pack, you'd think ghosts would be possible. The parts could substitute as statues if they were mixed and matched, too.
-
Oo! Sign me up! In a perfect world, maybe a regular house uniform, a house robe and and quidditch uniform? Unless they start offering more accessory packs (I'm still hoping for a quidditch version), then I guess they could do one of the famous alumni as one of the figs (Rita or Kings, Pomfrey, Scrimgeour and maybe Merlin or Tom Riddle?), but that gets repetitive sooner. Statues of the founders sounds interesting, too, but both they and alums are fundamentally less useful than a variety of student uniforms would be.
-
Ugh, no more Fords. A lot of people have mentioned wanting either the tent from Bill's & Fleur's wedding or the Quidditch World Cup. Has there ever been a tent set you guys have liked that would serve as an example?
-
For me, that made the CoS even worse. I can skip remakes, but when they cover something new, then it becomes more difficult. Hogwarts Express? I don't need another. But they'll do something cynical like including Hogsmeade Station, and then it won't be quite such an easy pass anymore.
