You made me curious as my pirates set were all red. I had to count So the majority is red, but pirates used most of brown. This count is in terms of sets, if I counted by canons in each set, red count would be higher. By the way I learned that blue and green colors exist. And this is the end of my PhD about Lego canon’s colors.

Thanks @Brickander Brickumnus, it’s great to see the design evolution. I am glad that the fan designer seems happy of the result.

After seeing the interview, I am glad that the LEGO team are such fans of classic pirates. I really feel their love through the interview, it makes me want the set even more. I can understand that some people are disappointed but a company can't be exclusively run by fans. As they mentioned in the interview, there is a lot of business considerations to be considered, even more than designing the set.

OK......... I’ll take it! I loved the original idea and really hoped it could be converted to a real ship. My dream has come true. Both the release and the original have their pros and cons though. The only real drawback I see is that the ship can’t have cannons due to the stuffs inside and the windows, but I will be possible to change that. That and the red sails, even if I don’t own any of the red-sailed ships it’s a bit redundant as a color. Here’s a review from Brother Bricks by the way. I am praying all I can for a 10210 redo... I would order both sets right away.

I have followed the same path recently with a second-hand 6271 Imperial Flagship. It was really dirty but it's so satisfying to see it cleaned! I hope to get back my Schooner one day, I want to make it beautiful again like you did

I wasn't aware of that, it always was strange to me that there were so many factions (pirates, islanders, bluecoats and redcoats). I guess it's more simple this way :) I really would like to look closely at what they did. Now that I think of it, I have a Tetris lamp which lights up thanks to conductive paint, it could be a way to do it too.

Thank you for those pictures, it's awesome! First time I look closely at a Lego House display, I amazed how they have combined official sets with other builds. The fortress fits so well in the port! By the way it seems blue coats and red coats are working together in this display. The shades of water are done completely differently depending on the scenes but I like them all I'm in love with the battle. It's so dynamic with the water splashes and the canon firing. I would just have swapped the Barracuda for the Skulled eye schooner to bring more cannons to that battle . If one day I get some ships at a good prices (still praying for a re-release of the imperial flagship), I totally would display them like this. Does anybody knows how do they light everything? I don't see any wires going to the wall torches. Do they have specifically pierced pieces ?

As you imagined, I don't think of being a die hard collector. Keeping boxes is not my think, I don't even have the space for that . Sadly I don't live close to any seller of lego ships, so I will have to rely on ebay insurance or such things. It seems the offers are good, especially the biggest one. I am still hesitating because it represents a lot of money and I wasn't expecting those kind of prices for old sets. You have helped me well, now I have to decide what I do . Thanks a lot!

Hello, I don't know if I can ask here, if not I'm sorry for the trouble and will post somewhere else. I have seen an offer selling everything in this picture for 200€. There is a full 6285 Black Seas Barracuda (probably without instructions), an incomplete one (he says 60%), few pieces from 6270 (+instructions), most of the minifigures from 6285 plus some others and some extra parts. I have seen another 6285, full with instructions at 140€ (but it's really dusty). I am not sure the other parts in the first offer are really worth the extra 60€... Maybe will it be better if I get it for 20-30€ less ? I am not in a hurry for buying, but if you tell me it's a good offer, why not jump on this one. Thanks for the help

Oh I didn't remember the alternative builds! It looks like a chinese junk. I checked on google but I haven't seen someone trying to build it

My first set was, I think, the (6286) Skull's Eye Schooner for Christmas. I was a lucky kid but a bit young for the difficulty. My mother and cousin had to build it for me. Years later I partially re-built it to correct errors that my mother and cousin made. It's one of the set that I never had the heart to scrap for making something else with it.

Hello everyone, I am CaptainMoore from France, a guy in his 30s. My name comes from the captain of the Cutty Sark in a Don Rosa comic (The Cowboy Captain of the Cutty Sark). You may understand from this that I am mostly interested in sailing ship, thus Pirates theme :) I am re-discovering Lego after seeing a ship I had when I was young (Skulled eye schooner), nostalgia hits hard and I am already thinking of buying some old sets. The prices are really high though! I signed-in to follow the amazing MOCs I've seen here, I will probably be mostly a viewer. Maybe some people here could also help me to know if some second-hand offers I see around my place are good or not. Prices usually need some experience to be understood. I just don't know where to ask. The Buy, Sell, Trade sub-forum may be the place but it is supposed to be blocked to newcomers (something I understand by the way).
