I've voted POBB for the best overall, it's beautifully done, even if i haven't converted it yet to a proper ship. I really like the island. 10210 imperial flagship looks nice (better on marketing picture I think, sails look... flat on real pictures) but it shows it's age I think. For classic pirate, I would vote 6286 SES for the big ship. Yes 6285 BSB has better coloring but I really prefer the masts and sails of 6286, it's far less boring. 6289 is really weird. I've acquired it recently and it really is a fun ship, but it lacks at least complementary sails to be less ugly. Brick and brickbeard bounty are really empty compared to the previous ones. Feels like hull slapped with mast and that's it. I own one, it's still nice to have, but not as good as the old ones. About classic small ship, on my end I would choose 6271 imperial flagship because of the beautiful sails. Caribbean clipper makes no sense with the ropes. Renegade runner is too small. I like the Armada Flagship sail but I would need to build my newly acquired one to know it more. Crossbone clipper is... an error I don't consider Pirate of the Caribbeans ship as classic pirate. I just would say that i really like Creator 3 in 1 Pirate Ship. When it was announced, i really did not consider it as interesting, especially compared to POBB. But it's a really nice ship and it fits well next to my Imperial trading post, without dwarfing it. I'm not fond of brickbuilt sails but it provides lot of customization. Really, it could be in the top ships.

I couldn't participate, i was in holidays and now i'm moving so no time and no bricks Anyway I would have been intimidated by the level of the others. I didn't have a look at each entry but for the few I've seen, wow, you guys rocked. For the future, i think that if you want to open the contest to a maximum of people, the mini-category is a great idea. It's less pressure, and if someone wants to build the set for real for the contest, they might have enough bricks. Also the old style is great. It could mean MOCing without knowing all the new building techniques could be enough. You could have fun by imitating the original presentation, instructions etc. If I had the time, I had an idea that could have fit in it. I can't say much more about the rest, but thanks for having organised that.

[CONTEST] Return of the Classic Pirates - WINNERS
CaptainMoore replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
Congratulations! The models are amazing. I would love to have them released -
It looks rather disappointing. On the pirate theme, saber island would have been perfect without being too close to Ray the castaway GWP, but the theme is halloween it seems... Let's hope it'll look better/funnier than on the picture
-
Thank you for that. I'll look at it later. Currently my life is too unstable to be able to care about this kind of project..

This is a good idea and I think it could be good to on Classic-Pirates.com. I asked recently for the 10210 but without success. I'm have a look at the thread. Or maybe @VICTORYCOUNT has it. Recreating it in Stud.io takes ages. Probably because i'm new to the software too

It's a promo code from a German website, i don't remember which one. Hothbricks also has one for a smaller set (all-terrain ambulance) I ordered with it, didn't even try not to reach the threshold so iI bought a 8€ one a bit uselessly...

That's what i thought when i flagged the post, he should get banned but somehow it didn't happen..

On another topic, I just want to signal that you need to know that all of what is shared on discord should be considered as lost forever. The content there is not indexed by search engines thus don't exist for anyone except the discord group members. Moreover, should Discord decide to change their commercial offer or close access to it for any reasons (look at what's happening to reddit currently), everything will be lost. We usually don't care about our conversations and data we create but I can give my own example: I've found eurobricks thanks to a search engine which led me to an old topic, then I've found other old ones that were really interesting even if they were like 10 years old. If it had been in Discord, I wouldn't have found the informations I was looking for. Eurobricks forum may look outdated to some but at least it belongs to us. This is not to force you abandoning Discord, it's a great tool that I use on my side too, but I think we have to think of what we choose to post there instead of here (and it may not be evident what is useful or not)

Please, share a picture in some months, it sounds incredible!

Someone named him Steve here some years ago if I remember correctly. This is a great torso. She was also in Black Seas Barracuda and Skull's Eye Schooner so it's pretty common. What about using this head? If think that it would have been perfect

The one from the 3 in 1 didn't match your architecture? I haven't tried building it because iI really like this small ship but it looks nice

I didn't want to demonize anybody, just intolerance, sorry if by a lack of vocabulary or else I did wrong. I get the historical problem, but Lego is clearly not aiming at that... About the raised base, it is a model problem. The raised baseplate will probably never come back. As it was reminded in previous comment, they were a hell to develop and costed a lot to Lego. Moreover, they break really easily. I guess they could have created something new like with PoBB but this was an Lego ideas set, which they changed to make a nod to the past sets. This one was a tribute to the original, so the goal was different. It's possible that Lego is testing between recreating old sets with a new take or to create completely new one. I like both. PoBB is clearly above this set in my mind, but I never got the original Eldorado Fortress and it is a proper replacement. We'll see in the future of Lego choose to continue on this path or they let it down.
-
It's probably a wink to the original but compare to PoBB or the recent GWP, it's looking a bit outdated

I completely agree with you. I just want to be able to share my passion with my future kids whatever gender will they be. To be honest, I care more about female pirates because soldiers are all look-alike too me, except for the chief. This and that I grew up without soldiers, only pirates so they are my heart faction. My pirate character never had a lover because I've never liked the lego females at this time. The pirate one always looked sad to me, I can't explain why... I'm glad we now have varried faces and hairs

I wasn't trying to silence people complaining. They have the right to complain and please do. Arguing about some minifigs being trans, cis or whatever and Lego being woke is out of the line. Those minifigs are what you want them to be. Lego is caring about the market and wants a better representation of half of the world population, they don't care about politics. And again, a little girl might be happy to have a character to identify with, might it be a pirate queen or an officer/soldier.
-
I completely agree with you. It's sickening. You all have the right to complain but some are starting to cross the acceptable line. Lego has based this theme on history, it never tried to be historically close. Plus it's a toy company aimed primarily at kids, then at AFOL, get over it! You want to build your army? Fine, do it, change the heads. If you're an army builder you probably already have tons of them. The antagonist is a woman and not Redbeard? Fine, he is old, has retired and Lady Anchor has taken the lead. Hurray for the new captain! Lego doesn't follow the lore? You know what? They never cared! Stories on the boxes and comics were for marketing. Except in this world of AFOL, I've never heard aboit those comics. They weren't bestsellers, nearly nobody knows about it. I can even tell you that i tried to read the first issue and didn't like it because the characters didn't match with their behaviour in my own stories when I was a kid. It's Lego, the greatest thing about is that you can adapt the toys to your liking. You're not prisoner of the company design like for dolls may it be Barbie or GI Joe (yes it's a doll). You know what? If I had a girl kid, i would love if she could open and build the set with me and then choose a character from either side that represents her in the story of this set. I'm glad Lego had opened the possibility for kids. You adult are supposed to be more mature and capable of adaptation.

Agreed, imperial flagship (10210 version) confirmed (joking obviously)

It seems that the dual moulded hear with hair has been improved by looking at the detailed pictures on the official website(or i don't remember it was so much detailed). We're getting a new chest lid too. I too may have preferred brown docks but it is true to the original and may look more distinct displayed next to PoBB
-
Finally! This will be an instant buy from me Hope there will be a majisto GWP with it (but Lego usually give them later)
-
Thank you for the advice, I did not know it was possible to import the inventory so easily. It will save time.

Hello everyone! I would like to try to build the 10210 by bricklinking parts. I'm thinking of replacing some parts to lower the price (especially the mast) and if it's really too much expensive, maybe change the color scheme (which could also avoid fragility of dark brown). I was thinking of using a model in Bricklink Studio to test everything and planning the orders if I can afford it. I can't find a model for this set though, or the only ones are "view only". Does anybody has one? It could save me a lot of time to avoid doing it myself. By the way if anybody has an idea to make it affordable, I'm all ears Thank you
