  1. Agreed on that. I would assume that if TLG is going to put unfavourable restrictions on the use of BL, buyers as well as sellers will find a new marketplace to meet. That‘s a normal kind of evolution.
  2. I'd like to see a modern, but nonetheless evil Sam Sinister. I think, Johnny Thunder in the current line of collectible minifigures looks too well-behaved. He doesn't look "adventurer'ish" enough. He is more a modest scientist than an fearless hero. Concerning PQ, I like the theme, but I don't like the brick-built "giant" animals in the sets. That's why I also don't like the "dino island"-subtheme from the original Adventurers-line very much. It's too fantastic for me.
  3. Yes, and as I wrote in my OP, I mean this "classic style". Thank you all four your input, especially the hints for the modern town sets with their open back. 6 - 8 by 16 - 20 studs seems an reasonable size for me. I will go for that.
  4. You should be right! Great find! I will try to get this torso. And with this pith helmet she will look like a modern Miss Gail Storm aka Pippin Reed: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=18829pb01&idColor=2#T=C&C=2
  5. Thanks! I have just found that unprinted legs are 73200.
  6. Hello to everyone, I have a question concerning the element/design number TLG uses for identifying their bricks. As I haven't found an answer on EB, I start this new topic. On the LEGO homepage, bricks can be ordered on "Bricks & Pieces" by using their design number. It seems that 76382 is the design number of a lot of (or all [?]) torsos (by today 1,061 torso are shown under this design number but of which not all are currently available). So by using this number, many torsos appear which makes it easy to find the available ones and make a choice to order. Is there a similar unique design number for legs, heads and hairpieces/hats? Unfortunately I haven't found one until now. Thanks and regards, The Reader
  7. Excellent. I really enjoyed reading your great story!
  8. In many Adventurers-sets the number-plate with "HC 514" is used: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=3069bpa1#T=P Does anybody know what this stands for? What does it mean? Is this another easteregg? I'm just curious ...
  9. I don’t know, if this has been discussed earlier. I tried a search but haven’t found anything. So, I will give it a try. It’s just to add some realistic geographic background to the "Jungle"-subtheme. Don’t take it too seriously ... We all know that the „Desert“-subtheme is located in Egypt (easy thing!). The place of the „Dino Island“-subtheme is obviously fictional – as are the living dinos. And the journey of the Orient Expedition-subtheme is printed on the back of the building instructions. But have you ever questioned where the "Jungle"-subtheme is located? Set 5986 is named „Amazon Ancient Ruins“. But are Johnny Thunder and his friends really following the Amazon River during their quest for the magical golden sun disk? Well, here is my answer which gives my personal view: Luckily, Johnny Thunder and his friends have a map showing their way through the South American jungle towards their destination (Bricklink: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=3068bpx24&idColor=2#T=C&C=2 ). But which part of South America does this map show? If we assume that the compass rosette printed on the map is correctly orientated, then the picture on Bricklink shows that north lies in the upper side of the map. Then the land mass we see in the left-hand upper corner of the map can only be the Isthmus of Panama as - at least as far as I can see - no other place in South America would fit this distinctive coastline. So, the map must cover the countries of Colombia and Venezuela. If we now look for a large river as shown on the map in Colombia, we will find the Rio Magdalena (Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magdalena_River ) which flows almost vertically from South to North (also as the river on the map) through Colombia. (And here is the only “problem” in my story: The Rio Magdalena flows in the sea East of the Isthmus of Panama, not West of it as shown on the map. But never mind – this is just a negligible mistake made by the cartograph of the map. ) Because of the distinctive coastline and the size of the river I am convinced, that the map shows the Rio Magdalena rather than the Amazon River. And there are other “proofs”: Johnny Thunder and his friends are on the quest for the golden sun disk. This golden sun disk fits in some way within the legend of Eldorado (Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/El_Dorado ) which is according to Wikipedia connected in some way with the Lake Guatavita (Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Guatavita ). This lake lies near the City of Bogota and not far from the upper part of the Rio Magdalena. The ancient ruins Johnny Thunder and his friends discover (sets 5976 and 5986 for example) might be ruins of the Muisca people (also called Chibcha people; Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muisca ), an indigenous people which lived in the mountains East of the Rio Magdalena. Perhaps Achu, the ruler of the jungle, is a Muisca chief. So, in my opinion and in my personal “Adventurers’ world” Johnny Thunder and his friends are steaming up the Rio Magdalena, not the Amazon River. I would be happy to read your thoughts about this!
  10. TeriXeri, thanks a lot for this hints. Judging the "Sea Horse Inn" here: or Alessios's house here: I would say that any measure between 8 - 10 studs max. by 16 - 20 studs max. would be fine.
  11. Thanks a lot!
  12. Hi everyone, as I am just out of my dark ages and "my" LEGO-time was in the 1980's, I just wanted to ask if there is a kind of a commonly agreed size of houses/buildings. I do not mean the size of modern modular buildings or the size of great MOC's, but the "ordinary" classic LEGO-house with its open rear to play inside. Like in the old Western-sets, the houses of Gold City Junction are 12 or 16 studs by 6 studs and 6 to 7 bricks high. Same measurements are for old Classic Castle-sets or Classic Town-sets. So - if I want to catch the "classic style" in a modern MOC, would a size by around 6 to 8 studs by a length of somewhere between 12 an 20 studs be fine? Thanks for your answers. The Reader
  13. As far as I remember 3 figs (5 parts each) were about 9 Euros in Germany (LEGO-Store in Frankfurt).
  14. Hi Trikbrix, your videos about the Adventurers-theme are absolutely great. I hope you continue your retrospective about Johnny Thunder and his friends (even if I don't like the Dino-subtheme very much).
  15. Thank you all!
  16. Hi Kintobor, may I ask which minifig from the CMS you meant? This one https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?M=col200#T=S&O={"iconly":0} is the only one I found which has not the classic, but the modern pith helmet. But the one on the ship seems to have a green torso which this lady does not have. Thanks and cheers, The Reader
  17. Hello, I recently found my way to Eurobricks and registered a few days ago. I am in my 40's and from "good old Germany". Just to give you an impression of my active Lego-period as a child: My oldest set is no. 368 ( https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=368-1#T=S&O={"iconly":0} ) from 1976, my latest are from the mid-1980's. So classic town, classic space and classic castle are "my" themes. But my "dark ages" ended just a while ago: While visiting Legoland in Billund this summer I discovered Johnny Thunder and his friends (having been released in 1998, they were too young for my active Lego-period as a child). Since then, the Adventurers-theme is my absolute favorite one. As my nick indicates, I will mainly read and enjoy the topics here on Eurobricks. I will see if I can add one or another topic some day in future. Cheers, The Reader Edit: correcting typos.
