Interesting prototype. Where do these things stow their fuel? I don't see any kind of a fuel tank on the prototype anywhere.

I'm late to the party, but this is great! Careful piece placement. Or glue. F-unit windows are pretty much impossible to solve via normal means.

I'll see what I can do. We should have another coronavirus stimulus coming. I likely can't do anything until I move in September. My only concern with this locomotive is that it's kind of... short (like base to roof). Still, the photos appear to line up, so I'm not sure where to go from here. Thanks - do you believe the shape changes were for the better?

Proportions sucked. I fixed it. Again, this was a case of only working off one - angled - picture. I managed to find another and quickly rectified the error.

These are really cool

(Very) short little clip of one of these right here:

The really existed, though... they were just, apparently, massively unstable and despised by crews.

Alright, longer (boiler one stud longer; wheelbase extended, cab extended one tile): Longer chasing a killbot: Longer chasing a killbot with the bobber:

Always wanted to try one of these, but never really had an excuse until now. The cupola is probably a plate too tall, but I wanted that overhang on the upper roof, so I don' think there was a way around it.

Thanks. I went ahead and raised the tender 1 brick and lengthened it 2 studs. I feel like these are closer proportions (in my defense, it's really hard to tell the dimensions of a thing when it's at an angle). I have at least considered lengthening the wheelbase of the engine by 1/2 stud per wheel (keeping the read of the loco the same), but am kind of on the fence on that one, and will await any feedback.

There are no brass models of this locomotive to go off of, so I had to wing it based on three small photos.

Considering that Strasburg's conception of TLC is to leave locomotives out in the weather for 3 decades until there's little left but rust (also see: languishing 4-8-2 no. 6755), it's hard to imagine AoS doing any worse. Cosmetic restoration is all that's possible, correct? Is it even legal to run a camelback anymore?

There were a lot of variants of these locomotives, so I didn't really pick a specific prototype to follow. Originally I had the IR receiver crammed somewhat awkwardly into the locomotive, but I was pleasantly surprised that it was possible to fit it into the tender, so that is where it is located now. This is about 900 pieces total.

The tram itself is just glorious.

[MOC] Narrow gauge diesel engine "V 52" in 1/25

I've never been a fan of "standard gauge tracks become narrow gauge," but this is really an impressive model. Excellent work.- 14 replies

Not super wild about the roof, but that could be rectified with a lot of tiles. Lovely lights. Really dig the door and the pine tree, too.

Didn't submit anything. Didn't really see a reason to, to be honest. Grats to anyone who won.- 6 replies

[moc] F7a Seattle & North Coast RR

Pity it only lasted 4 years. :( That's the one railroad outside, potentially, the Milwaukee Road that I most wish hadn't folded. -

I like everything but the rods - really feel like you should buy some customs. Lego simply doesn't give us the right parts for the job.- 22 replies

Wow, one large motor can pull a ton. I agree with @Coal Fired Bricks that you should consider doing Lego rolling stock.

Not to offer unwanted advice, but have you ever considered trying something that would result in slightly lower-profile rails?
-
So it's not narrow gauge, it's a smaller scale. Interesting.

That's a pity. It looks so cozy, I just wanted to peek inside!
