Only the legs are actually from the Demogorgon: the torso is from HP Professor Lupin in Werewolf form, and I had to switch the Demogorgon's hips to plain ones for a smoother transition.

    @zoth33 Thank you so much! In addition to the themes you list, the Harry Potter one is also a steady provider of interesting parts for fantasy minifigs and accessories (and animals!). For example, the wings of the Varlyrian Hippogriff are from the Thunderbird from the HP Fantastic Beasts. @Yperio_Bricks Thank you very much! I'm not sure the "mask" of AntiMatter's hood was initially intended as a veil...but it definitely works wonders as one! @Professor Thaum Thank you very much! Lately, I've been especially thrilled by the new parts from Dreamzzz...

    @Sympatik Brick *4x6 baseplate. My inital plan was to have all the builds on a similar footprint. Up to this day it seems to have worked...but it won't last, I'm afraid.

    Saying that I was thrilled by this year's "Magical Minifigures" category of the Brickscalibur contest would be an understatement. So instead of five minifigs, as initially planned, I ended up with ten! From left to right... - From Avalonia: Farbauti, wild druid, and his faithful warg - From Mitgardia: Falmond Hoog, artificer, and his masterwork the Crystal Golem - From Avalonia: my sigfig herself, in a battle-ready outfit. Alrune d'Embervale, battlemage and necromander, animating a recruit - From Varlyrio: Bérangère de Belloy, enchantress, and her mighty familiar - From Kaliphlin: Sedri Raedh, demonologist, invoking a lesser demon - Last but not least, from Nocturnus: Amlach, wizardry researcher, and an experimental abomination

Cold, snow, locked doors – nothing stops her!” Previous | Next Which leads us to the second scene of this Advent Calendar! Dresghar - "Who would have thought that such a tiny, backwater village would be so busy at night?" @Frike The branches are based on part 1566! I had initially ordered a bunch of them to build a vineyard and/or espaliers, but eventually found them useful for normal trees too.

I can't claim the idea behind the Hearth Gnomes though, there are creatures like them all over European Folklore! According to legends, there was a tribe of them in a cave a few km away from the village I come from...

    @Kai NRG Thank you! It's so easy and obvious, yet for some reason it took me some time to get it right... @Eyrezer Thank you so much! I have started planning for this calendar in early november, and had all first 17 builds ready and photographed by november 19. As of today, the builds for the 18th to the 21th are ready - photos planned for this weekend...but I only have a rough idea of what will be for the 22th-24th!

The idea of larger scenes came from traditional Christmas Villages...This year I don't make any, so the parts of this Advent Calendar end up decorating the fireplace mantel! @Yperio_Bricks Thank you! I initially planned a different character with this Batman head, but eventually found out it would be perfect for a thief. I love the print, it's so expressive!

But the skeleton leg-with-boot is more versatile that I would have thought.
