  1. My guess is lego either is very, very silent about these sets or tries to tout it as some sort of moral victory that they cancelled the others. (Not that it would be in any way, but I can literally see the press release in my mind) I think it's a mix of both. Part of it is the concept along the lines of "when you buy a new car, you start seeing more of that type of car on the road because you've got it in your mind", but I do think that lego's made a variety of very baffling decisions from QC, to the ideas sets they pick up, to entire themes being botched. I think even if they turn this around, someone's out of a job. Exactly. This is a BIG DEAL. They trumpeted the returns of many other things, they did lots of press for stuff like Rivendell, minions, avatar, etc, but nothing for Indy? We're less than a month out!
  2. @NovaBricks outlines a few reasons well, but here's why I think it's a resounding "no" on being the Keatoncave: There's not much visually interesting, especially with the removal of the vehicles. There are very few figs. Realistically, at the max we can include, it'd be like 10ish. (Batman, Bruce Wayne, Alfred, Catwoman, Penguin, Joker, Flash, Flash 2, and MAYBE supergirl, Zod, and like Flash 3 or something) I feel like it almost HAS to be comic based. It's a way to make it visually interesting, include a variety of figures, have stuff like the T-Rex and Coin to add color, etc.
  3. The pilot in the plane set is a Nazi though. Here's my theory, which is JUST A THEORY. Lego began production, initially, of the 4 April sets and a later wave for Indy 5. At some point, someone with authority within lego decided that the ToD set was too controversial/ist/phobic, and snowballed it into cancelling the theme. Since the other 3 April sets weren't as controversial as the TOD set, and further along in production, they were allowed to release, just to recoup some money. Now what I HOPE is the case is that the TOD set has a design flaw, and the DOD sets are just an example of lego managing to keep leaks secret. But lego has made enough baffling decisions recently, and I think it's honestly more likely at this point that something like the above is what happened.
  4. Weird, everyone else I've heard of who got the marauder had 2. I think you ended up with a missing part! On the one hand, that's definately possible. On the other, Lego is notorious for packaging errors, so it's not out of the question that they either forgot to remove it or simply didn't care.
  5. I respect your opinion if for no other reason than I hated TLAT with a fiery passion, but I do think the set is almost objectively good. The price is good for size, figures, and PPP. The figures themselves have a solid number of new prints and are accurate to the film. The build is something that was actually a major part of the film, as opposed to some random vehicle. It's accurate to how it looked in the movie. All major characters in the film are covered by the set. Says the guy who's profile pic contains both Morbius and Black Adam, therefore making him some sort of dark avatar for the superhero side of the internet.
  6. I think they definately need a new mold for the head at least, since they're wearing that hat thing. I still want to believe that it's 327th troopers, especially with that new mold for the macrobinocs, but I don't want to get my hopes up. I know there's rumors Rex is in the set, but we've had rumors of Rex in a set that ended up having unnamed clones before! Vane and the Klatoonian (I'm like 99% sure it's him, since IIRC the only ones with that helmet were the klatoonian and the trandoshan, and it's clearly not a trandoshan) look great!
  7. I don't think we see an Anzellen or darksaber mold. Darksaber feels like something we should have already, but for some reason they seem really confident on keeping it as the standard lightsaber design. The Anzellen just feels like too much effort for something not really even related to the set (and before anyone brings up the BD-unit, that was clearly designed for the BD-1 set) I think the larger set definately has potential for upwards of 6 minifigs. Here's what I'd speculate based on what we know: Confirmed/basically confirmed: Mando (has been in all but two smallish Mandalorian sets), TIE pilot (given the tie interceptor), Unnamed Mando (The figure literally leaked) Then likely around 3 of the following: Bo-Katan, Grogu, other unnamed mandos, Hypothetically, Gorian would just need a hair/beard piece, no? I agree that his ship is totally coming. Excellent design, and has clear play-feature potential with the retracting features.
  8. Like the Wrecker armor in the BB shuttle. Weird thing, but nice to get.
  9. My assumption is no more than Vane, Mando, and one other fig. I would say they'd need someone desirable to sell the set, but another recently revealed $35 spaceship literally just has Rocket Raccoon, so who knows. Most likely it'll be either a second pirate or Greef with the new drip.
  10. Uh, no. Goblin would have to be new. I don't know where "Only 5 new" came from, but it'd be Tobey, Andrew, Electro, Goblin, and Doc Ock. Sandman is supposed to be brick-built, I believe.
  11. Don't look up the Obi-Wan and Anakin comic. But I agree, at least about the standard mech archtype. Serpias works because he's a little dude in what looks like a humanoid armor shell. Zombies I think are a fine trope to include, and I totally agree that the superhero concept doesn't need to be in SW. To try and stop myself from getting off topic, I do think the mechs are a stupid idea from a fan perspective. From a business perspective, I imagine they'll do fairly well, but I do wonder if they'll do better than just, like, small $15ish sets that include those characters.
  12. Nah, after someone threatened to pour flex seal down his larynx I wouldn't try to bait him. Battle packs would all be great. Force Awakens wave. We didn't get many sets for the sequels after their initial waves, but there just isn't a ton of stuff in the movie. Microfighters: Black One X-wing ($9.99): Poe Dameron First Order Troop Transport ($9.99): Captain Phasma Rey's speeder vs Luggabeast ($19.99): Rey and Teedo. Battle Packs: Resistance troopers ($14.99): 2x resistance trooper (kepi style helmet), 1x rebel trooper (hair), 1x rebel trooper (helmet with visor). Build is a small bit of D'Qar bunker with turret. First Order snowtroopers ($14.99): 2x first order snowtrooper, 1x first order heavy trooper, 1x first order snowtrooper captain. Build is a first order banner and mini FO snowspeeder. Duel: Showdown on Takodana ($19.99): Maz's castle ruins with collapsing feature. Comes with Finn and FN-2199 BB-8 rescue ($29.99): Luggabeast and Jakku gate. Comes with Rey, Teedo, BB-8, and Constable Zuvio. Starkiller base escape ($39.99): starkiller base interrogation room, shield control room, and hallway. Comes with Rey, Kylo Ren, 1x stormtrooper, and Chewbacca. First Order TIE Fighter ($59.99): The non-special forces version, between the 2018 and 2021 ties in size. Comes with 1x TIE fighter pilot, 2x first order stormtrooper, and General Hux. Black One X-wing starfighter ($69.99): Between 2018 and 2021 x-wings in size. Comes with Poe Dameron, BB-8, Snap Wexley, and General Leia. First order troop transport ($129.99): FO troop transport, larger than 2015 version. Comes with Kylo Ren, Captain Phasma, 4x first order stormtrooper, 2x heavy trooper, Lor San Tekka, and Poe Dameron. UCS: UCS Black One X-wing starfighter ($249.99): Comes with detachable booster engine. Includes Poe Dameron (dual molded legs, printed arms) and BB-8. MBS: Starkiller base ($499.99): Starkiller base, built similarly to the death star UCS set. Interior includes interrogation chamber, hallway, conference room, hanger bay, the catwalk where han dies, and a top level with the forested area where they fight and the thermal oscillator. Also includes microfighters of a resistence x-wing and FO special forces TIE. Comes with Rey, Finn, Old Han, Chewbacca, Kylo Ren, Phasma, Hux, 2x first order officer, 2x first order technician, 2x first order stormtrooper, 2x first order snowtrooper, 2x first order heavy trooper, 1x first order tie pilot, 1x first order special forces TIE pilot, Jess Pava, Snap Wexley, and 1x first order snowtrooper commander. Dioramas: Showdown on Starkiller Base ($59.99): Starkiller base trees and snowy terrain with the fault lines through it. Quote is "I can show you the ways of the force." (Look, there are literally two lines in the scene, but I still think it would be a good diorama.) Comes with Rey and Kylo Ren. Reactor encounter ($79.99): Elevated/forced perspective starkiller base catwalk with the reactor sides in the background. Quote is "I know what I have to do but I don't know if I have the strength to do it". Comes with Kylo Ren (unmasked, new hair), Han Solo, and 2x stormtrooper.
  13. I don't think it's clear enough to tell whether it's even different from the standard dark brown, but a different undersuit color would be excellent. Dark brown really just doesn't work for him here. Though I'm not sure a metallic/pearl tone would work either, I think it would look odd with printed amor plates on top of it. My hopes are for DBG but I wouldn't rule out them just continuing the dark brown.
  14. Agreed. I think that the set in the spoiler is a shoe-in for 2024, provided it shows up again (which I'm sure it will).
  15. It would be nice, but I doubt that character is in either of the revealed sets. Maybe the $44.99 one, though I'd love a $100+ set of that character's ship.
  16. Forgot about the GWP, you're right that it'll most likely take multiple sets to hit it. Maybe I will get the executor at release then.
  17. No, I totally agree. Rex is great, but the 327th would be better than our third 501st troop builder in 4 years. (Also hence why I think it won't necessarily be an army builder if Rex is involved) We've been hearing about the Endor helmet for awhile. It seems that they are really planning on celebrating this anniversary for once. Executor looks a little expensive, but otherwise excellent. I think I'll wait on a sale, but it's definately something on my radar.
  18. Very sleek, I like the use of the Dr. Who panels as the control panels here.
  19. Ok, good. I highly doubt it. That figure looks a lot more like a Mando-era mando than a CW loyalist. (also, I wouldn't be surprised if he was in one of the trailers like the battlepack mandos, but I don't have the energy to go check) I hate that your citing of a comic from 2008 is absolutely accurate in that lego has 100% set a precedent to pull from it. I would also add that a set doesn't have to be an army builder for a large number of figs to give value. If it's 4 named characters, the value of the set itself doesn't decrease, it just means you're more likely to only buy one. My thoughts as to rex being in an ISP despite never riding in one onscreen are that lego's thought process seems somewhat clear: People want rex-put rex in a set-put rex in a small set so more people can buy it, maximizing sales and/or being a good PR move to fans-ISP is like the only small republic vehicle (besides the V-wing, which is also a valid choice) they haven't already made in the last 3 years-put rex alongside an ISP.
  20. You know what, I'm fine with that. So long as it still includes a reasonable number of figures, (3 minifigs and 2 droids minimum, since that 106 piece count means anything less and it's drastically overpriced)
  21. "batman is at his best when he's lighthearted and fun" is not a statement I ever thought I'd hear. I've heard the "could you imagine your batman comforting a scared child" argument, but I've never heard anyone say he's best "when he's fun" You forgot Zur-En-Ah (civilian clothes), Damian Wayne (future, wearing a business suit), and Jason Todd (gravestone).
  22. I wasn't part of that conversation, but in their defense, it's less of a "this time she's just wearing an undershirt beneath the suit" (which is the general method used by media for situations like this) and more of some sort of armored triangle between the halves of her catsuit. IMO it's less about covering it up and more about how they chose to do it. But yeah, I don't think we're getting the Clooney suit. Not necessarily because of the nipples, but because they've got a limited number of new prints and I can't see them wasting them on the most universally hated film. This, though, I could see. A sticker on a 1x2 tile is all it would take. Zorro poster! It's kind of funny that we're just as excited about the little easter eggs in the set as the design or figures.
  23. This is my guess, purely because it feels like they're hoping people will buy these just for the figures (I did it for the wolverine mech, so I'm not blameless here), and the existence of the Slave One microfighter kneecaps this mech if it's got the exact same fig. Even with an (arguably cooler-looking) OT boba, $5 is a lot to a kid, so we'll see. @Agent Kallus here was how I counted it, in battle packs since.. I guess mid 2020, which is a bit of an arbitrary placement, but I was trying to get the post-sequel era. mid 2020: 501st battle pack 2021: nothing 2022: hoth rebel pack, snowtrooper pack, p1 clone pack, clone fighter tank 2023: 501st trooper pack, upcoming swamp speeder (which you can't tell me isn't a battle pack, at $25 for 106 pieces it's got to be) I don't count the Marauder since even though it's the same price point as the Tank, I do feel like there's a difference between 2 stormies, a mortar stormie, and Carga and 3 187th clones, Mace, and 2 b1s. But there's definately some wiggle room for either including it or excluding the tank. With either of them, or going back a few years, you definately narrow that majority to just a plurality, but clones still get the lion's share of battle packs nowadays compared to other factions. Not exactly a pressing issue, but if we're down to 2 battle packs a year, both of them $19.99 or more, it'd be nice to at least get some other factions. Oh, and I reject the classification of Mando sets as automatically OT. Something like the marauder, if we're counting it as a battle pack, I could see, since it's imperial stormtroopers, but the battle pack of 4 generic mandos isn't really an OT pack.
  24. Given how absolutely wild the rights are (From what I've read some are saying different companies have rights to different eras of the world, and neither have the rights to the silmarillion?), I'd be surprised if they've got anything more than the rights to the films and show. I might do this. Ironically, I had the legolas pack at some point, but never had a set LOTR collection, so he disappeared into my parts bin and must have been sold at some point. I'll have to get him and Golumn while they remain cheap-ish.
  25. It's @QuiggoldsPegLeg. Gets overlooked because we do get a lot of OT sets, but the army-builders have almost exclusively been clone ones. Not a huge deal, but I feel like one clone battle pack type set a year is enough. Lol. And I mean, I'm not saying lego's choices are all illogical. We get so many clone packs because they sell. We don't get rebels sets, because they probably wouldn't sell well. Doesn't mean I don't wish we got em.
