  1. I'm hopeful, but the lack of Shin and Baylon, not to mention the Ezra and Thrawn that apparently are appearing in marketing, is getting to me. As is, if the show is good, I'll get the shuttle. I prefer the deeper blue TBH, characters always look a little different in live-action and this brings him closer to his thrawn trilogy look. Unfortunately, that's been overwritten since the sequels/aftermath trilogy. I just hope that if they are doing a lose adaption (which that line certainly implies), they have thrawn as he was meant to be.
  2. So good news and bad news: Good news: The lego indiana jones sets are up at target.com Bad news: The lost tomb is... actually $80. What the hell.
  3. To be fair, that was absolutely an accident. If it wasn't for Alfred Molina, their plan was to market it as Dr. Strange being the villain, and as such we can assume lego found out about the villains as the trailers released. (I mean sure, we all knew it beforehand, but lego almost certainly didn't have confirmation from marvel or permission to make those figures.) Batfleck and Zod, as far as we know, were never intended to be hidden, and Batfleck even has other merch. I mean hell, Dark Flash is the "spoiler" character, and he straight up has merch too. The only way the set would really be a spoiler is if it had figs that... could show up in other sets. I'm gonna be honest, I've done my best to forget exactly who shows up in the leaks I've read, given the absolute the movie promises to be
  4. It's like if they did a blue squadron X-wing (or I guess more comparably, if the TIE interceptor this wave was Royal Guard instead of normal.) I get the grumbling, but in the end it won't really change much. Yeah, for the sets that are 100% army builders, I prefer standard troops with a few specializations. Something like the 501st specialists pack or first order pack with the flametrooper and officer isn't all that bad to me, but something like the Infearno squad pack, where 1 copy gets you all infearno squad members, or the 2018 jedi and clones pack just seem too far out of the realm Entirely depends on finances, but these are my tiers: Definately: Throne room diorama. Maybe: Either Yavin IV, or the gunship. If things go really well, both. Most of the mando sets just don't interest me, and I already have a ghost, so I don't think I'll get another. The smaller ones like the boba fett mech and swamp speeder interest me, but they seem outrageously overpriced, so I'm not gonna get them, most likely.
  5. Oh, wait, I said that. I do think the battle packs are better when they come with non-unique characters. That said, stuff like the fighter tank falls into a grey area due to the price, so I don't mind them having a named character. My personal ideal battle pack ratio is 3 generic troops, 1 higher-ranked/rarer troop, but it's not a hard and fast rule. I liked the 501st specialists pack as it had non-unique, if not entirely generic, troops, and if a battle pack has 2 generic and 2 rarer troops or 3 troops and a named character, I'll still get multiple if I like the faction.
  6. I mean absolutely no offense to anyone involved, as this entire forum of which I am an active participant is about discussing lego's plastic toys, but "arguing over the army-building capabilities of a $140 set based on it's color scheme" may be the crowning achievement of this forum. Anyway, let me senselessly wade into the debate anyway: As others have pointed out, ANYONE army-building $140 sets is probably crazy enough, wealthy enough, or both, to be buying multiple no matter the color scheme, and even if the 4 gunship army builders don't buy as many since it's coruscant themed, it's a statistically insignificant amount of money. As another point, the 501st set, which was at least in part actually meant for army-building, featured the BARC and AT-RT in 501st colors. I dare you to say that sales would have changed at any statistically significant level if they had been standard GAR colors. I do find it odd that they're doing the coruscant colors, but ironically, since I have a modded 2013 one, I'm actually more interested in this than if it was in the generic colors.
  7. Shhhhh... Though if you want to get really technical, the T-wing is just a modified Batwing Here it is!
  8. I wasn't expecting to make the third wave nearly this soon, but it's been a rough month or two, and this was a nice distraction. The state of lego DC has improved somewhat, since we're at least getting sets this year, but as they're all Burton focused, the future of lego DC remains heavily uncertain. We can't even get waves of sets based on the newer movies, because half of them don't release and the other half bomb. The core idea for this wave was that it would be done as if it was a movie tie-in, but with no actual movie it's tying into. (Though some inspiration is taken from other Darkseid stories in premise, such as Justice League: War, Justice League Dark: Apocalypse War, and the cancelled Zack Snyder Justice League sequels- of which Steppenwolf and one of the Batsuit's designs take heavy inspiration.) My constraints for this wave were as follows, to ensure it would be something lego could realistically do: Standard wave type: I can't do 80 $800 D2C Batman sets. For this wave, as with the last, I've made 3 mech gimmicks like the marvel sets (still in the old style, as I dislike the ninjago limb style), and 5 standard system sets, as well as a small polybag. However, this time I've added a retailer exclusive, and 2 diorama sets as lego has done for other themes. Iconicity: This basically translates to "Batman needs to be a focus", since, well, he's the most popular DC character, and what seems to sell best with kids. Maybe with the new DCU other characters will become more popular, but for now, Batman's the star of the show. For each set, I also only used existing pieces in existing colors for the builds. (With the exception of custom prints, since, you know, they're custom prints.) This is so the builds can be built IRL if one desires. The figures, on the other hand, do not follow this rule, and have more arm-and-leg dual molding than would be realistic, just since Stud.io has a limited print inventory and I wanted to differentiate who was who. This wave also features some custom prints, as I've finally figured out how to use partdesigner. Just a couple, being the Omega symbol on a 2x2 tile and a few torsos, and they're of varying quality. I think Red Hood's turned out best, but my Superman one is pretty rough. I didn't exactly write a screenplay, because I can't write, but this is the generic outline of the "film" story I based the sets off: Now that I've rambled for a paragraph, let's get started: As always, additional images and descriptions are in spoilers for space: BATMOBILE POLYBAG: 57 pieces Nth Metal Bat-Mech: 158 pieces Aquaman Mech: 160 pieces Darkseid Mech: 157 pieces Arrow-Bike Ambush: 148 pieces Batcave Forge Invasion: 389 pieces Batmobile: Versus Steppenwolf: 340 pieces Bat-Tank: Superman Rescue: 778 pieces Batwing: Darkseid: 1231 pieces Retail Exclusive: Parademon artilliary: 509 pieces Diorama: Fastest Man Alive: 658 pieces Flash's defeat of Darkseid. (Which is a spoiler for the "movie", I guess, but the diorama sets usually come out as their own wave, so we'll say these are released months later.). I wanted to show flash's speed, so along with the lightning trail we've got the road cracking as he runs, the mailbox and garbage can being thrown back, and his electricity overcharging a streetlamp. Comes with, of course, Darkseid and Flash. Diorama: Darkseid's Throne: 660 pieces Darkseid's throne room with some trophies of defeated heroes. Comes with Darkseid, Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. I gave this one a quote too, since "Darkseid is." is just such a cool quote from the comics. Anyway, sort of a weird wave premise, but I think it led to some interesting builds. I particularly like how my Batwing turned out. This is going to be the last wave for some time, though I will hopefully do another DC wave eventually. Maybe a D2C style Arkham, or some qoute sets based on some of the actual movies, too. Let me know what you think!
  9. Count me in to the "Werewolf should be greyscale" group, I think it would help him stand out, and it's not like we won't get a standard one eventually, since he'll be in midnight sons or whatever supernatural crossover lego eventually does. You definately should watch it, it's one of maybe 2-3 Phase 4 projects I liked. Lots of fun. Werewolf by Night is more humanoid than most werewolves I've seen in media, so it's not gonna be lego's standard "wolf head on human body". My guess is, black and white or not, it'll be a new hair mold with ears on a human head, arms with fur printing, and maybe the gremlin style leg mold.
  10. I'm not gonna lie I literally own the game and thought he already was in it, but I can't find anything online. From what I can find on the instagram posts it looks like maybe it's future DLC for the game or something? He isn't in the existing TCW DLC.
  11. Yup. I think it's the same one. Edit: Not to mention, Same. It's not terrible, but after a decade you'd think they could have improved upon it more.
  12. Barring the fact that the mech sets use plain legs, and we didn't get shoulder pads, the fig in your profile picture is based off that costume. But yeah, the CMF figs are assumably X-men 97 based, so we'll probably get an update with dual-molded legs and his shoulder pads.
  13. Looks excellent, and I can totally see lego doing something like this in the future. For what it's worth, I think the eyes are a difficult thing to solve. Either they stick out, or you have the "panda eyes". (Though I don't think there was anything wrong with @MAB's suggestion, he was polite.) Even lego just used a print, and one that unfortunately can't work for this, since it's got the hair and eye patch. I looked through bricklink and don't see an easy solution. This part would be great, but unfortunately is a print, not a sticker, and so can't be applied to a yellow tile.
  14. The interceptor is great. The fang fighter looks beautiful, but I'm kind of mad they didn't make it rotate, it can't be that hard. When I was like 12 I made a moc that, don't get me wrong, looked awful, but was able to rotate. Even just a rotating cockpit would be better than nothing. And yeah, the figure selection is, as it seems to be for quite a few of these summer sets, pretty rough both in quantity of figures and figure choices. We know lego is perfectly fine altering what a set is based on (AT-TE from AOTC to ROTS) to put a desirable fig in the set, or just put figs into something they never technically appeared in so long as it still makes a level of sense (I.E. 332nd with the swamp speeder. We never saw any, but it's a standard GAR vehicle.). My personal money's on an AT-AP, as the last one was 5 years ago, and the one before it was 5 years before that. Maybe he'll be in a droid gunship instead, though. I second this. Season 3 has made me love the N-1, but that set just doesn't resemble it to me. It feels oversized and clunky, and I think it really suffers from a lack of any sort of silver. I get they can't drumlaquer the whole thing, but some pearl silver accents would go a long way towards making it better. A $40 starfighter with Mando, The Child, and R5-D4 would be much better, and it's one of the few times I'm actively hoping for a remake of a set currently on shelves.
  15. 0, or 1 if I do well financially this summer, since I do have a soft spot for the coruscant guard. Ironically, since I have a gunship mod/moc already, I wouldn't buy any if it was normal. However, I think a plain gunship would have been a better choice. Even if we stay limited to 5 figs (which is absurdly low, by the way), IMO it should have been something like: 2 clone pilots, Rex, Ahsoka (S3-5 outfit), Anakin. I think the highest number of non battle pack sets I've gotten is 3 of the TX-225 hovertank.
  16. Not quite. Here's a teaser for one of the sets, there's a different one on my instagram. I've only got one set left, so the wave should be posted by the end of the week.
  17. I didn't realize smaller leaks were allowed there too, that's a perfect solution. It might be different now that it's retired, but the standard 501st trooper was never too expensive. And as @Kit Figsto said, the EU polybags definately help the US prices for rarer figs, even if it is sort of it's own system as you say. Hopefully a shock trooper shows up in 2024... I'm not looking forewords to their bricklink prices.
  18. Thank you! Here's a more clear view of it in it's batwing form: It wasn't supposed to do this, but about halfway through, I noticed the shape, so I tweaked it a bit, and those tweaks later on ironically resulted in the eventual changes to a rebel fighter, despite it originally being meant to look more like the symbol: Wow, I just googled it and it... it really does. I almost wonder if I've seen his design somewhere before and was subconsciously influenced. I was aware of the passing resemblance to the Tri-wing (Which, I believe, your own excellent MOC is the first time I'd seen it), but wow, it REALLY shares similarities with ECHenry's. Maybe I should change the title to "Help, I accidentally made ECHenry's Tri-wing, kind of." Thank you. The majority of my MOCs are meant to emulate lego's official style, hence the play features/spring shooters and detail level. Thanks! Thank you, Bob Ross would be proud.
  19. What happened today, the mech fig news (Boba arm printing, vader arm printing), the Fox and Hera part leaks, anything else? I'm also re-iterating my idea of a leak/rumor thread that simply posts new information as it's received, as the discussion thread moves quite quickly.
  20. I mean, the MCU changes stuff from the comics all the time. The handprint origin could be changed. CMF is much better than I was expecting, all things considered. I will probably only get the Knights (And maybe Echo later on if her show ends up being anywhere close to daredevil caliber, though at this point instead of expecting that I'm expecting the daredevil revival to just be bad), but I'm very happy for everyone who wanted the X-men. (I just already have a wolverine, and Best and Storm aren't worth hunting down for me. Now if Rogue or Prof. X was in the CMF...) I do think it's great that we're finally getting more X-men, including our first Beast and second Storm. Maybe next year we could even get a set or two, like a Blackbird or Sentinel.
  21. Eh, unfortunate. Not the worst thing in the world, but I kind of liked the dioramas, both microscale and fig scaled. The most imposing/interesting thing visually about the Death Star is it's size, so one that'll most likely fit in the palm of my hand doesn't interest me much. Which is good, because I definately can't afford to spend $160 or whatever it'll be on lego star wars sets right now!
  22. So... this wasn't supposed to be a star wars vehicle at all. It began it's design process as a batwing, of all things. And while I think it still works as such (It becomes apparent from a certain angle), when I was finishing it, I realized it aesthetically was fitting with a rebel starfighter. So I changed a few greeblies and altered the color scheme, and as it turned out, I'd made a T-wing starfighter. REBEL T-WING STARFIGHTER (796 PIECES): "The T-wing starfighter (I'm making up all of this based on the design) was a dropship/starfighter commissioned by the new republic shortly before the Battle of Endor. Due to the changing tide of the war after Endor, only a few actually were purchased by the New Republic, for use with their Special Forces Shocktroopers." "The T-wing was only lightly armed with 2 wingtip blasters and a pair of cannons next to each primary engine. It's primary function was to quickly enter enemy territory and drop off shock troops, as evidenced by it's thick hull and wings, as well as it's oversized primary engines. The ship featured a ramp opening at the front from which shock troops would either exit upon landing, or, if even a momentary landing was deemed too risky to the T-wing due to artillery, to parachute out of." I threw a couple figs into the render to show it off. L-R we've got two NR shock troopers (of which I don't believe we have a canon design, so I made my own), a newly re-recruited NR shock trooper captain, and a New Republic pilot.
  23. I find it absolutely hilarious that we've swapped opinions on this year since the new info (While I'm glad we're getting a gunship and ghost, I think the figure selections are horrible, and I don't think the UCS venator is a good idea right now, much less with Rex, so the wave overall has dropped from "potential to be incredible" to "average, with a standout or two"). Goes to show how much a few sets can make or break a wave for people. Anyway, my main point was meant to be that you're totally right. Between the two of these, you can have any conceivable variation of the 501st legion. Now we just need that 2024 accessory pack with Hardcase, Fives, Kix, and a helmet rack with Jesse and Tup's helmets, and the entire conceivable 501st legion will be purist buildable. (Cries in the corner over my inability to army build the 212th and coruscant guard.)
  24. Did your target ever have them to begin with? I still don't see them on the target webpage. "Don't do that... don't give me hope." Did he ever say he didn't have any intel on that? It's not at all inconceivable that in April 2023 someone could have found out about the existence of another IJ wave. Say it's january, we've had specific sets leak with basic descriptions about as far in advance.
  25. Ha! You're probably right. Tough to make movie tie-ins when half the movies don't pan out, and the other half bomb. (RIP shazam 2, I thought you were good.) I meant that I thought it would be fun to do a tie in wave for a movie that was never real, not that I started one for a movie that was then cancelled. I didn't have an actual (released or cancelled) film in mind I was basing it off of, it's more like the shadows of the empire lucasfilm marketing thing where they made tie-in products without a film as practice for the coming trilogy. Just since I've done a couple general comic based ones, I thought it would be fun to make a plot throughline with the wave this time. (As a hint, I'll say that while it's not based on any specific medium, it bares some similarities to both a released film and a cancelled one... though with a bit of a lighter tone than both.)
