  1. Great selection in Cologne last Saturday! Some of the more intersting pieces were only available in very limited quantities in a box of mixed stuff (the double jumpers in light grey, the ingots in light grey, the 1x1 round bricks in white), otherwise I would have taken a lot more of those...
  2. I needed a few tries to put the coiled rope into the hands of the spy, otherwise I didn't have any problems with the quality of the components so far. Why did the rope have to be made of the rubbery material instead of ABS? Don't get it at all, that was a terrible choice imho.
  3. Finally found the new series in Germany. I got the penguin kid (my favourite so far, sooooo adorable! ), the Halloween devil kid, banana guy, spy/secret agent, mariachi and 3 rogues. Great series!
  4. Beautiful! I have been waiting to see the modules put together and the whole display looks terrific. You certainly put a lot of details and different building styles into your modules and that's what I'm often missing in large displays, well done! Also, great to see to siblings collaborating for something like this, I've been trying to get my younger brother out of his Dark Ages for years now for the same purpose, but no luck so far.
  5. Which won't happen anytime soon, as the Tolkien Estate owns the rights for everything Tolkien created apart from The Hobbit and LotR and they are not interested in making Tolkiens world into a franchise like Star Wars has become. About which book are you talking?
  6. Thanks! :) Thanks you! Thanks, that's definitely the plan. I already started work on Bofur, I'm hoping to build all the dwarves of the company of Thorin Oakenshield eventually. Thanks! Thank you! Balin is my favourite of the bunch, too. I really like your renditions of the dwarves that you built a while ago!
  7. I had to change some colours and parts for the real model (would have loved to use inverted rounded 1x2 slopes in white for the back of his beard, but sadly they don't exist yet), but here he is in all his bricky glory: Balin "The Nose" son of Fundin: The body is a little fragile because I wanted to use pearl gold for the trimmings on his clothes. Yellow might also work and allow for a more solid build.
  8. The atmosphere of this build is amazing! Awesome MOC, Legonardo! I love it when landscaping looks really organic and your build definitely pulls that off VERY well. I'd love to see the MOC in person some time, there's so many details. My personal favourite are the helmet-stones.
  9. Stunning design on both the board and the figures! I'd love to play a round or two on that board.
  10. Hey everyone, I was pretty excited about the announcement of the BrickHeadz line for 2017 and I like the superhero figures that were revealed for the SDCC. So I thought about what other characters I would enjoy being released as BrickHeadz and the dwarves from The Hobbit immediately came to mind. I started figuring out the basic design and dimensions of the figures TLG has shown so far and built Balin as my first attempt at this building in this Chibi style. I quickly rendered the model for now, but once I have refined the MOC and checked the availability of the parts used I'll place some Bricklink orders and build it for real. *Edit*: Pictures of the brickbuilt model in the fourth post. *Edit* Anyway, here are some pictures! I'd love to get some feedback from you.
  11. It's no sand green haul, but I got some useful pieces in Cologne last Saturday. One big cup filled mainly with stacked 1x2 bricks in dark bley and some random pieces from the mixed bin, and a small cup filled with 1x3 bricks in dark bley, some light bley 1x1 bricks with studs on side and round 1x1 tiles in light bley.
  12. WOW, those sand green pieces. So jealous!
  13. That's what I suspected. But I asked one of the employees and she said it was fine as long as I only took 15 pieces per box.
  14. I went to the store in Cologne on Friday and filled a big cup. They had some of the bins reserved for parts for the two models mentioned before, but i had no problems taking some of these for my cup. This is what i took home with me: I also got two plastic shells with minifig parts because they had a few new interesting pieces. Spartan torsos! Deep sea diving helmets! Dark green hoods! Really cool and some of those are pretty expensive on Bricklink, especially the torsos. I didn't have a lot of time and the build-a-minifig station was overflowing with kids, so I wasn't able to take away more parts this time.
  15. I visited the store in Cologne yesterday. Unfortunately, they didn't have the parts on the wall anymore that I was looking forward to the most, but one of the shop assistants brought out a bin of mixed parts from the back which had lots of interesting stuff in low quantities. I filled a small cup with all of this:
  16. The last two times I filled a big cup, the people at the register just let me put the bricks into a plastic bag and refunded me 0.75€ because I forgot to bring an old cup. :) So you don't actually have to bring a cup to get the cheaper price if you explain the situation to the employees. :)
  17. Wow, that is awesome! A lot of those pieces weren't there before christmas. I hope I can still get those in 3 weeks when I'm in Cologne again.
  18. I bought two large cups in Cologne at the beginning of this week. I filled them with a mixture of landscaping bricks (2x1 slopes in dark bley, yay!) and stuff for modular buildings or something like that.
  19. I just bought myself the Mos Eisley Cantina Set. I wanted to have this set for a while now and the May the 4th promotion was a great chance to finally get it.
  20. Wow, those are a lot of awesome modulars! I especially like your different techniques for using window parts. Do you have a picture of the complete layout?
  21. Great build and choice of colour, ivanych! But I agree with alois, this looks more like a mediterranean-style building.
  22. Great modular building, cimddwc! Always nice to see a MOC built around a specific "odd" part. Beautiful interior, too! Well that would make a terrific modular as well! Just saved the picture for future inspiration...
  23. I'm so glad the Pet Shop is in stock in Europe again. I just ordered one - my first modular building! Would have been sad to miss it by just a few days.
  24. Those prices seem to be the MSRPs for the French shop. The German MSRP is already ~10% less than that, so hopefully we'll get better prices than those shown on Hothbricks.
  25. What about just using this piece instead of the turntable? That should work just as fine in that spot.
