I just "slyther-ized" my avatar to be more appropriate for the Community Build. I know the photo isn't the best, but i'll retake it in the daytime. Surely combining old and new greys would give more of a "old castle" feel than tan and new grey walls

Welcome to Eurobricks! Why don't you add a link to your flickr or brickshelf gallery where the image is or for help posting the image, look in this helpful tutorial http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=18451

Thanks, I would enter it but it isn't really in the style of the winter village line and I only found out about the contest after you mentioned it to me (the rules state it has to be a new model that hasn't already been posted) With the snowy weather in Hogsmeade, I'd have thought a chair right next to a heater would be a good thing.

Just before the licensed forums get flooded with the Hogwarts Community Build (which of course, I will enter ) I decided to post my Honeydukes Sweetshop which I made about a week ago but never got round to taking the photos. As normal and innocent it may look from the front, the interior hosts a whole lot more details! Here is the full view of the exterior showing the light bricks in action, some piles of snow on the roof, and those fabulous new brick-bricks for detail. Honeydukes is obviously very popular with the Hogwarts students . In this scene, students are looking at the rows of colourful sweets and treats as Harry walks out of the shop hidden in his invisibility cloak. The second half of the shop is the storeroom with Ron sneakily eating a fair portion of the Chocolate Frog stock and the trapdoor to the secret passage to Hogwarts. In front of the light bricks, there is an office for the owner and even more crates of sweets, waiting to be unpacked. And a view of the whole back. I hope you liked my Honeydukes Sweetshop and all of the photos can be viewed full size in my flickr stream here. Remember to look out for my community build Chamber Of Secrets which I have just started and will hopefully be on Eurobricks very soon! And finally a little comparison photo of my Honeydukes and the official set, with a famous quote from another film: "I am your father"

I would like to build #3 Chamber of Secrets. And I'm in Slytherin to add that touch of pure-blood goodness to the Chamber Oh, and because the Chamber of Secrets is rectangular, not square, could I make it longer that 48 studs?

Thank you all for your comments! I now have the IR brick and controller but have taken the Earth Defender apart ( ) to use the power functions pieces in another model i'm working on ( )
-
I made a purist lion a while back (see this topic) and would like to enter it. It was my own idea and uses all official Lego pieces
-
I mainly built this Alien Conquest battle tank to try out my first power + functions kit! The Earth Defender includes a tank with the cabin and a trailer housing the power + functions battery box (since at the time of building, I didn't have a IR reciever). Anyway, lets see some more pictures! And finally, some of the details on the Earth Defender! For more alternate views of the model, visit my flickr set here! All comments and critisism are more than welcome and I hope you liked the Earth defender!

Lego Christmas Crackers?
TheKingOfBuilding replied to TheKingOfBuilding's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I never knew you don't have Christmas crackers in the states ( ). The UK market is too small so thats probably why Lego don`t make Christmas crackers. -
Looks good so far! Are you going to add a security camera to that 1x1 brick with clip in the top left corner?
-
At Christmas, I had a thought - why does Lego not make their own Christmas crackers? They would have a brick pattern on the outside and could include Christmas themed impulse builds and minifigures (which, for obvious reasons, would be CMF quality). I'm sure they would be bigger and better sellers than normal crackers. The cost would definatly be a problem though, but what do you think?

MOC: Heavyweight Championship of the LEGO World
TheKingOfBuilding replied to aripramz's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Nice creation but I never knew minifigures were heavy enough to be in the heavyweight championships! -
I'm glad you liked my Privet Drive! I got the flatscreen from 7208 Fire Station and the smaller TV from 7639 Camper . I know, the verandah is a little bit on the small side but the size of the baseplates I used meant the kitchen and Harry's bedroom would be a whole lot less spacious. Also, there's two reasons why I didn't use the brown mustache version of that head: 1. I do not own that brown mustached head. (although theres allways Bricklink ) 2. After viewing the "Flesh Vernon Dursley" topic here on Eurobricks, someone suggested using the brown mustached head for Vernon in his younger years and the grey mustache (the one I used) for Vernon in his later years. In the Philosopher's Stone film, Vernon's mustache was already grey and nowhere near a shade of brown! Also stay tuned for my next Harry Potter MOC - it will include Power+Functions!

Harry Potter 2012 Set Ideas Thread
TheKingOfBuilding replied to Gregorovich's topic in LEGO Licensed
But think about it. Sure the Batman theme died when the videogame was realeased, but a couple of years later we find out that a new Superheroes theme will come out including not just Batman but even more popular superheroes - making the theme better than it was before! Now that is something that I would like to happen to the Harry Potter line. A Lego Novels theme anyone? -
Today I will be showing you my Lego version of Number 4 Privet Drive. It includes all of the rooms (except Dudley's bedroom but I decided having a bathroom in Number 4 would be much more intresting) that are seen and mentioned in the films and books. As a extra feature, the house can hinge open so you can see the rooms inside. Now, onto the photos... The Exterior A view of the front of the house. I used some dark orange and dark tan bricks to create a stonework feel and the old and new grey roof tiles for a weathered look. And the back garden with the bars on Harry's window. Opened Up Privet drive hinged open. Privet Drive hinged open inside. A much better look at the layout of the rooms. The Rooms The cupboard under the stairs. The lounge with the latest flatscreen TV. (For the Dursley's little Duddlykins) The kitchen and dining area. I see Dudley is enjoying himself. Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon's bedroom. (I borrowed stole the raidiator design from the market sreet) The bathroom. Like I mentioned before, it was either this or another bedroom for Dudley Dursley. And lastly, Harry's bedroom. I hope you liked my Number 4 Privet Drive MOC and as allways, comments and suggestions are welcome! Another little feature is that you can unfold the model to create the appearance of two houses. REVIEW: 3300020 Holiday Set 1 of 2
TheKingOfBuilding replied to SilentMode's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thanks for the review! Now that i've seen the set a little bit better (although to be honest, theres not that much to see), I still think Part 2 is better only because i'm in love with those new 1x1 round tiles. -
Can you go in the shop without paying?
TheKingOfBuilding replied to Hrw-Amen's topic in General LEGO Discussion
When I went to Legoland Windsor, the shop was inside the park gates. However, if you plan to visit around 20 minutes near the closing time of the park, because all of the rides shut-down at that time and the ticket vendors close, the staff just let anyone come in. Also, Legoland parks have a PAB wall which mainly has bricks and other simple pieces while a Lego Store (e.g Bluewater, Milton Keynes...) normally has more specialized pieces, from my experiance. -
7255: General Grievous Chase Theme: Star Wars, Episode III Set Name: General Grievous Chase Number: 7255 Year Of Release: 2005 Pieces: 111 Minifigures: 2 Price: £14.99/$20 (I bought it six years later in used condition for £30) Way back in 2005, this was a prized set because of the unique minifigures and vehicles included. General Grievous Chase has still not lost it's collecters value even after two other sets with updated versions of Grievous were realeased. So lets find out if you should join the chase to get this sought-after set! Box Here we have the box art showing a mysterious robotic vehicle followed by a oversized, duck footed lizard. The back of the box suggests the alternative models which can be made from this set and an advert for some other Episode III sets. Instructions Being the same as most Lego instructions, this manual has the exact same artwork as the box but without the set name and reccomended ages. The first pages show minifig assembly and the steps for Boga. The "Random Page" shows the construction of the wheel bike above a neat lava effect (which is on all of the pages). This page demonstrates the main play feature of this set: the transformation of the wheel bike. Here we have some pretty different alternative models. Second to last page shows all of the 2005 Episode III sets except Ultimate Space Battle. And the back of the instruction manual advertises the Star Wars videogame. It's better than today's "screaming kid" but still doesn't beat the "Yoda on the Star Wars website" advert from the early 2000's! Minifigures Next is the main draw to the set: the minifigs. Smile Grievous! This photo shows General Grievous and his jedi scum both with lightsabers. Here is a closer look at the minifigs. I think the old Grievous has much more of a Lego feel compared to the new Clone Wars version. As for Obi, he is the standard EpIII minifigure but still is an nice fig nonetheless. Look at that lovely exclusive cape! Pieces Not so much system, but alot of technic and those 2001 dinosaur molds. The unusaul pieces are two of those large transparent dishes, two dark green technic bricks, Boga's body parts, a brown strecher piece and various sand blue parts. And the spares. Boga Obi Wan's mount, the mighty (and adorable) varactyl called Boga is recreated perfectly in Lego! Grievios' Wheel Bike A mix of technic and more technic, the wheel bike has an ability to convert from driving to crawling mode. The transformation: 1. 2. 3. Ratings Price: 10/10 You get alot for your money - this set has playability, great pieces, rare minifigures and a big collectors value. Pieces: 8/10 Some nice technic parts but not so many system bricks. Minifigures: 9/10 This set has exactly the right characters but could of done with just a little bit more detail on the plain white Grievous. Playability: 8/10 The restricted movement with Boga's legs takes away a point and the lack of another, just a tiny play feature, takes away another point. Conclusion: There are not any other re-realised versions of this set about so it remains a unique and important little set in the Lego Star Wars collection! P.S: Why has Eurobricks hardly got any Episode III reviews? They, in my opinion, are some of the most interesting Star Wars sets around and they can't be that rare!

Underwater Month Avatar Contest Winners
TheKingOfBuilding replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Congratulations to the winners! Could I have a please? -
I recently bought some used Harry Potter sets (both advertised as 100% complete) which were missing a few pieces. When I built the model to check everything was there, I found about ten random but very useful pieces left over, to "replace" the missing bricks! Another example was when I ordered a 2001 HP set, yellow-skinned Harry was replaced by this flesh version ! Every one of my used sets I bought were missing pieces but were replaced by even better pieces or minifigures! I'm not complaining, I'm saying that I am very lucky when buying used sets!

I looked through this thread several times and cannot find the photos of the new girl's theme figures. Was I too late? Were the photos removed? Or was I just not paying enough attention to this thread?

video game based minifigures
TheKingOfBuilding replied to mo123567's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Unfortunately, it is highly unlikely those minifigures will be released. The video games they appear in are too vilont for children, and after all, Lego is a toy. -
I have made some custom ministers of magic. Here is Rufus Scrimgeour compared to my custom minifig: Real life Rufus: My Lego version: And here is the previous Minister Of Magic, Cornelius Fudge: Real life Fudge: Lego Fudge: Not really essential characters, I know, but they will probably never be made in Lego form. The only thing I would change is Fudge's hat for the S5 Minifigures Clown hat (painted black)
