If you was reading a bit carefully, you would recognized that I was talking about four middle hull pieces, so that counts the 1992 Flagship out ;-) Of course I meant the one from 2010, but I won't use any parts from that one for the HMS Victory. It shouldn't be bigger than that so I will make less cannon decks and a cabin with less floors. That's what the difficulty is. The 1992 Flagship is too small for that project. I was thinking, like mentioned above, rebuilding the Barracuda into the Victory by adding a middle hull part / have more than one left here, and using most of the bricks for that. It's just how can I make it close to the original one without buying too much additional stones...

Hi all. This question is for the experienced MOC Builders. As I am 38 having a bunch of 80s Bricks, I don't want to buy too much additional bricks. My son badly wants his and mine favourite ship, build not bigger than the Flagship... it's the famous HMS Victory. The difficulty is like in my Renegade Caravel Moc to build a playable ship, that a 5-6 year old can play too. So most of the big MOC are way too big, I need to make the model smaller. I already know that I will make one hull part more than he Barracuda, and not higher or bigger than the Flagship. So one canon row and one or maximum two floors by the cabin is enough for the model. I don't want to destroy my Flagship, it has not the right colours anyway, the BSB have exactly the black and yellow coloured type of pieces that I need. As my son don't have any emotional relations to the BSB, it's far away from being his favourite ship. So I am the only one at home to be hurt when the BSB will be changed - a clear sign that my second favourite ship behind the Flagship is just because it was the first big one Lego released during my time, I was 8 when Lego released the pirate theme in 1989. My question for help is if you have any suggestions how I still can make the back and the complicated front in a way the ship doesn't become too big... Thanks for your help. When I will be doing it there will be a MOC Thread of course

The Caribbean Clipper 2019 had received also an update, just did not make any pictures as it has been occupite in "action" (playing) it wss a 5 ship 5 kids sea battle. Now the pictures, and sorry the flag is upside down, recognized it too late and too lazy now to make new pictures. But when it's played that happens ;-)

My wife had the idea to change up the wooden bricks with the fence that it matches the whole side of the ship, moving the wooden part to the back. Looks closer to the original one like that. I hope that's it now free photo hosting free photo hosting free photo hosting free photo hosting

Hello again... today has been the day my son and me been at the Lego brick stone store here in Berlin. You can buy all kind of stones and stuff. So while he bought a bag full of wall stones and stuff, I took some minor updates to the ship, still with the flags but also still with Captain Ironhook. I tried to do the stairs as good as I could do, judge yourself
-
After a "deal" with my son I was allowed to make the captain Ironhook Style again. But as you see I was forced to change the sails and the flag, not matching the hat now. But my son loves it like that so we keep that version now.

Updated / 13. August 2019 My inspiration: I have one final update of the final update... ;-) but now it really looks nice! Added one of my left out middle hull parts, to make the shape look more to a caravel than a cutter or a sloop. Than, thanks to the space, moved the mast to the middle of the ship. Now with that more space I could make up still a small but really nice caravel. Started also to play a little bit around if I can do the stairs like on the picture... and I guess it's ok. But please have a look yourself and tell me now what do you think: As you can see... Captain Ironhook looks like Captain Roger. That's just because of my son wanted it. He said the ship looks so elegant and nice, so the captain has too got some nice clothes. He explains the change of style with the more gold Captain Ironhook have now :-)

I updated the ship a very last time, fixed the thin parts of the mast and stuff, these small changes make it look really good and realistic. As almost all ships until the 19th century has been brown or black, from 1800 when also steam ships started to appear in that century hulls being white and other colours. That's maybe why I never liked the Skulls Eye Schooner, as it's the most unrealistic ship ever, close to the Spanish Armada in white... I get the point that children want big pirate ships, also the colours even if not realistic are attracting to children that age. My son's wish for his 6th birthday is the Armada Flagship.... As he wants more playable smaller ships. He likes the Schooner too but he wants a not that big one. He loves that crazy different colours on the ships. Oh and he loves the white hull. But now the pictures of my anti coloful attempt to make the Renegade Runner finally the Renegade Runner Caravel 2019, won't change that anymore until somebody has a real good idea for my very limited parts. bild online stellen bild online stellen bild online stellen

Wow if I imagine you updating the Armada Flagship, I would probably buy that one for my son as birthday

Absolutely amazing!

We made up a whole story around the ships, with the main roles the smaller ships. That's why in our story we have more focus on other Captains... Caribbean 1715 and before ... Captain Roger and his Crew, his officers Brickbeard, Ironhook and Pegleg, had purchased a big two Mast Ship, Redbeard's Runner, to rob Spanish Ships and steal their Gold. Roger was known for hide his Gold for the future... One day Brickbeard traitored Captain Roger by selling the Information about the Location of the Ship to the Admiral of the British Flagship, Nelson. Admiral Nelson immediately sailed to the place and sunk the Redbeard's Runner. Roger flew with Will and others to Port Royal and took his hidden Gold to buy one of the biggest ships of the Caribbean, the Black Seas Barracuda. He swore revenge to Brickbeard... The brothers Ironhook and Pegleg flew to the Islanders and their friend, King Khauka gave them some of his Gold. Ironhook bought the old Santa Maria, the legendary ship of Columbus, and became Captain Ironhook. His Brother Pegleg bought a small island and build a base on it. They all swore revenge to Brickbeard. Brickbeard himself bought with the Gold from the British one of their War Ships, the Bounty, and made it Brickbeard's Bounty and he became Captain Brickbeard. He went on to trait also the British, French and Spanish by robbing their Trade and smaller War Ships. The British was furious about how Brickbeard became an ice cold pirate captain and Sir Wellington invested his money into a new version of the Bounty. The target of Admiral Hood and Sir Wellington is to capture Captain Brickbeard. The British small Flagship Sea Lion and its sloppy Admiral Woodhouse are in the Caribbean to escort important trade ships. But his sloppiness very often give the pirate advantages. The British Flagship and Admiral Nelson are coming just to end confrontations between the two French and two English War Ships to decide the outcome... The French Gouvernor Broadside is well known for making hidden deals with the pirate Captain Brickbeard and hunting the other pirates. The French Admiral with his new Version of the Clipper is trying to find the traitor inside, not knowing that it is Broadside. He very often calms down confrontations between British and French War Ships.

Here is my last reboot as my son found some awesome parts that made me make the ship even closer to the real Santa Maria. Mist funny thing is that Maria is the name if my wife and his mother. Here is the final reboot:
-
Still love your one, still has the look of the old one but with modernised parts. My MOC of this ship turned into a caravel similar to Santa Maria. But it was my intention to do so. Really like yours too also the colour scheme you kept the same. Love the inside with the wooden floor look

This website has pictures specified on the topic seaside fortresses from the 18th century (1700-1799) which fits exactly into the pirates theme P.S. Google for Southsea Castle Portsmouth
-
I love the old parts and mini figs too. But to be honest most parts of the reboots are new lego parts. These brown parts did not exist during the 80s. So some of the Lego Technic stuff that is needed to make the poles look like masts.
-
Thanks... I have another reboot of this ship, turned it totally from a sloop into a caravel. I am very glad about the front as all lego sets have the same fronts, except the 96 series where they totally left the front sails out, it was always the same triangle from of sail. I did this ship inspired by the "Santa Maria" the Flagship of Columbus. I am not a fan of the not for real first to spot America, he did not even know it's a new continent he thought he was in India, that's where the name Indians for native Americans comes from. But do love his ship... And the front is pretty close to the original one in small an less sails and masts. If you turn the pole wherethe chain is clicked on, the front sail turns and you can turn it sideways... or you can stick the front sail to this stick for stability and playability. My son tried it out. He kicked it light from the side and it fell sideways to the masts and flipped over. But it still was intact! That's exactly what I wanted to do. A beautiful small playable ship that is stable enough for sea battles played by 5 and 6 year old children. I think my inspiration was clear, and in my opinion I get the most out of the possibilities. What do you think any advises to get it even more close to the real ones? (Except of the sails it still has to be a pirate ship)

Yeah a lot of. You can very much use the 80s castle black and grey stones and build fortress on the sea side in a star formation. The architecture was pretty brought over from Europe, that's why New England States have similar architecture to England and Spanish Colonies to their Home Land too. So you can pretty keep the style from castle a little bit. In Spanish or Carribean Sea they used very often bright colours like white grey and yellow light brown too because of the sun and the heat.

P.S. the East India Company by the British had an Army with Blue Costs instead of the typical British Army red... before they had been replaced by the Imperial fleet when the crown took total control in the 19th century. I guess Lego did not thought that far in history as they simply made blue and Red uniforms inspired by the British and also the names. The neutral flags of both factions indicates that Lego first did not apply to any country when they made them, simply taken the Red ones because if the similarity to British Uniformsto represent them later in within the pirates of the Carribean line. But like I said we play the blue as French :-)
-
That is what came into my mind. There is no doubt that the Red Coats are inspired by the British Empire of that time / also Lego used their red coats from the flagship 2010 to represent British Army in England (London Escape / Pirates of the Carribean). In 1992 the Clipper and the Blue Coats appeared side by side with the Imperial Flagship 1992 and the Red Coats, in the stores and by the commercial flyers and stuff. They just been then completely replaced by the Reds a year after that. So in 1992 you was able to buy blue AND red coats and they appeared on the same faction. Historical wise that is even more correct as companies with colonial armies was first supported by the British Government and later replaced by soldiers from the British Army as the crown took total control of their colonies. Lego named both Blue and Red Coat highest officers with British Names and let the story play in British Colonies such as Port Royal in Jamaica, a British Colony. Some historical uncorrected as Lego puts 1715/1725 as dates for the pirate theme, but Port Royal has been heavy destroyed already in the 16 90s due to an big earthquake. Kingston took it's place already after that as most important port and pirate place in that time.... What Lego really wanted to do... doesn't matter. We play the blue French because they fit, and we like to have different factions. My son's wishlist is with the Amrada Flagship another faction we don't own yet. So whatever Lego really intended, in the end it is what we make out of it.

Thanks. Yeah as I mentioned in other posts I love our big four ships. I love the details of the flagship with the kitchen and grilled chicken and fish, the piano inside the cabin, the ship is outstanding.... also is the Black Seas Barracuda as it never loses its magic after 30 years. But my son had trouble with the collapsing front of the flagship while playing or front masts and stuff falling down of the other big ones when he moves and need so much space for it. With the smaller ships he is sailing through the whole room making wars and gold rushes. With the big ships only come into ending a "confrintation" between other ships. He can put the small ships into the ports of Eldorado Fortress and his own Forbidden Island and they fit, the big ships are way too big to fit into the ports of the sets. Now as we have smaller ships he and his friends are 100% just playing with them leaving the big ones for me, or forcing me to play with the big ones as they still love them and want them to join the game. It's real fun but the most important moment is when he is happy and his eyes shine like stars when he is sailing with his ships...
-
I am honest, I love the bigger ships most, Imperial Flagship 2010 and BSB are always my favourites of all time... But also these smaller ones can have an impressive view...

Some pictures "in Action": Robbing a trade ship... upload images ...captured... upload images upload images And a funny scene by my son... The undead pirate officer scares the hell out of an Blue Coat Officer, with Captain "Pegleg" laughs while chilling... upload images

P.S. also the way up to the stern and the cannon balls are from the original one. All the rest are different or new lego bricks. I decided to go brown with one ship to see how realistic compared to most real pirate ships I can get. My son plays it with a lot of fun. He build a pirate forbidden island by his own, with the "brother" of Ironhook, Captain Pegleg and his "undead" pirate officer. :-)

Edited the whole topic with new pictures as I changed some stuff.

Topic updated... it's a completely new version of the Rennegade Runner. Just the Hull Parts and the Figure up front, also the mini figs are the only parts kept from the original one
