  1. Sick man That is, still, a random scenario. No store is ever gonna need to make a choice between them, that's a false dichotomy. If one played the former they'll probably play the latter. The conversation wasn't about what if a kid stumbled on it, it was about why there's outrage over one or both so in general the "what about the children" angle doesn't have anything to do with it. Also you do not need to be consciously aware of the interpretation for it to have issues. Media normalises things, a romantic song with a character refusing to take no for an answer and the most common shorthand for someone realising their drink is spiked is gonna be something that's understood by most everyone who listens too it. If we imagine a world where there's no backlash to this song, this stuff being portrayed in an uncritical light without any conversation around it would teach kids that the behaviours in the song are okay. As it is there's really no issue to complain about, feels like more dumb War on Christmas stuff. Many places still play it, in the age of he internet you can listen to it whenever you want, and it's because of the conversation getting dregged up every year people are well aware that what's described in the song is of it's time. I'd rather not but you can if you want Yeah exactly, it's still based from and around a licenced theme even if we go in all sorts of directions with it. That's where so many of our running jokes come from
  2. Yeah, ngl big fan of your pfp because I'm just imagining everything you say about LEGO or pop music coming from a sith while striking that exact pose. Adds a lot to your posts I think
  3. Seems like a kinda random scenario, like imagine talking about how certain Looney Tunes shorts don't hold up "sure the old racist Bugs Bunny cartoons are bad, but if it was between that and porn I'd rather show that to a kid" Like, sure, I guess that's better but not only is it kinda irrelevant to the point we're talking about but also not a choice any human will have to make. It's still bad to play the song for a kid without having a conversation with them about it beforehand, like those Looney Tunes shorts it should obviously be preserved but just have a strong warning about how times change what's considered okay beforehand. Either way, some people did in fact have an issue with WAP, it's why people still bring it up and get mad at it today so this entire thing is based on a false dichotomy
  4. Yeah, sure! Tell us all about the songs you hate. You raise a good point, people are constantly complaining about WAP, it's just as "controversial" even if it's for less serious reasons. I hate every song bar the Coventry Market song
  5. Missed this before, the reason is that a horny song being horny is doing what it says on the tin, not my cup of tea but that's a brand of music that's always selling. There's nothing to morally object to there compared to any one of the millions of chart toping songs about rich people being horny. Baby it's cold outside is supposed to be a charming romance song so it having a subtext of rape ruins the song's intended purpose.
  6. If Jokeler the folly of dew taught me anything it's that if the joker was real he'd be really scary 😨 😨 😨 😰 😨 😰
  7. Idk, this kinda seems like a PR stunt for Luigi's reputation. I have not seen a single thing bringing together as many people with different political views as that in ages. Literally everyone but other CEOs and corporate puppets thinks that guy had it coming. This could mean Luigi's recruiting, we should be wary
  8. I hope it's an advent calendar, then doing annual advent calendars + the magazine figures when at all times they have less than a dozen figures to reuse is funny Very funny how quickly hope was snuffed out, the bright kryptonite is now dull
  9. get sets for Superman… I guess I belong in the aslume. Lock me up in Milton Keynes Really? That's a fate worse than death you know Okay, nice. I guess I'd be medium Nougat. You're a Gentlejerker
  10. Nah, that's my buddy Ed. I have no idea what anyone here looks like, and it'll stay that way until one of you gets arrested and I see the headline Yeah, it's a hotly debated song for a reason
  11. Nah, couldn't make my little dummy ary without access to my hands we aare pirates because we all have scurvy I wonder what's the over/under on me being the only person who's not white here. Like not making any political statement with that, just curious
  12. This is our character development, we go from inmates into a crew, this isn't a cell it's the most maddening ship to sail the seven seas
  13. Not to jinx it but it might be for the better, keeps it to people who want to be here Scooby Doo will save this franchise, LEGO will do non Batman DC characters exclusively in new Scooby Doo sets as the special guest star. It was more a guideline than a rule tbf
  14. Not seen it, apparently Shaggy is in a crowd shot? Is Scooby Doo the the first film in the DCU?????
  15. Romans are probably pushing it in certain circumstances, Dinos are almost certainly fine. Let's go around and say our favourite Dinos, mine's the Stigmoloch I can see the argument, I don't think it's a particularly big downgrade Me when LEGO faces have eyebrows
  16. I was very excited and swiftly disappointed looking this up. The designs are fine (well as fine as CG monsters in Ninjago have ever looked, that yeti thing from the ghost season still haunts my dreams) but don't match the effortless charm of the Power Miners figs, this is heartbreaking. But on the other hand heartwarming that Rock Monsters can be elemental masters so it's a give and take ig The minion thing is a clever idea, when LEGO gets around to 2000s nostalgia I imagine Power Miners would be one of the stand outs, that'd be a clever work around since LEGO are too cowardly to bring back the old Rock Monster piece. They should make money for doing that by getting rid of every single star wars piece but the Watto head.
  17. GUYS! Is Red Hulks crystal purple in the LEGO Iron Man car seT? COuld this mean a Purple Rock Monster is coming???
  18. Yeah, I don't think any of it makes sense as genuine beliefs
  19. Yeah, the effects of the DCEU sets flopping is insane. Those must have been monumental shelf-warmers Man I'm so scared of it getting permanently shut. I's so lore integral
  20. I'm not touching the atomic bomb discussion, but the reason the empire is considered fascist is that that's their inspiration, how they look is only downstream of that. If you don't want to debate star wars you can stop, we had dropped that discussion
  21. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cx2y8xz9nweo You know, come to think of it I've not seen Brickbob Studpants post here in a while...
  22. Ah, you've done it again! Masterful Jonk new Turtle Emigrant means pretty much the same thing, I said that to make the point clearer, he's explained what he meant since, still in context it's weird next to the "no adults were actually nazi's" thing but it's obviously just a Jonkler I'm not able to grasp with my non-reptilian mind Red Hulk obviously is taking them to sell so he can get the funds for his movie to not use Arial font on the poster, a noble quest the vile Iron-man is trying to stop him from doing
