  1. Interesting! I know a lot of people have been thinking that Tower Bridge and GBHQ are due for retirement, surprised that the Fishing Store would be retired so soon, seeing as it was released in 2017. I guess that's Ideas for you. Would be surprised if BB does in fact retire, seeing as its only finishing its 3rd year, and seems to still sell, although I do believe it isn't as popular compared to others.
  2. Or earlier! In the meantime, there's 5 modulars available at the moment, which I believe is the equal most that there is ever at one time. So its more than likely that at least one will retire this year, although it has happened before where two sets were retired at once (GE and TH). Which set(s) do we think are most likely to retire? Will it be the eldest, yet crowd favourite, PR? Or one of the newer sets, DO at the end of its 4th year or BB at the young age of 3 years? Or even the mega-modular anniversary set AS? My bet is on DO, it being shown on the "some retiring soon!" page is no coincidence in my eye. If there's two going, it will be DO and PR, 5 years is a long life for a modular...
  3. That's right! Some could even be set in the future for all we know!
  4. You're not wrong. But as its such a successful line, if/when they do end it, I imagine it would be planned, unless there is serious trouble at Lego. So they'd announce the last modular as it being the last modular. Doing that would also make every non-retired modular sell like crazy. But even when the Creator Expert modular line stops, I imagine that would open the door to modulars coming from Lego Ideas. I think they won't release any modulars from that platform because it intrudes on the actual line. But if the actual line stops, that's no longer a problem.
  5. I know right? I was looking back through the old pages, and they "knew" that Detective's Office was the 2015 modular in August! Granted it wasn't official then, and it took them a couple of months of speculating what it would look like, with a few leaks now and then, but still, at least there were leaks! But it makes you think, what if we've gotten a leak without realising? Might have to read back over these past pages...
  6. You've done really well with this build, especially the lighting! Everything looks so natural, well done! A great way to introduce us to your characters, I can't wait to hear more about them!
  7. Thanks! It is pretty subtle, but the cliffs are on a gradient from left to right, you can see that the opposite ends are at quite different heights. Having said that, the clifftops would probably look more realistic if they were uneven, rather than smooth. Thanks! I like your idea for expanding the village, and that's some great info, you learn something everyday!
  8. The buildings are definitely not all set in the same era, although the architecture may be a similar style. Evidence of this is seen in the computer in Town Hall, while there's a typewriter in the brick bank. While cookies and sweets are prohibited in Detective's Office, there is a baker selling these in Assembly Square. The fire brigade, palace cinema and diner all have cars from different time periods. Town Hall was built in 1891, while Fire Brigade was built in 1932, according to the dates on the stonework. Combine this evidence with the Computer and fire truck, and we can establish that the town hall building is set in the end of the 20th century, making the building about 100 years old, and the fire brigade is only new, with the truck from the same era as the building, around the 1930's. The same reasoning places the Diner in the 1950's, where the car matches the era of the architecture. You could even figure out that Assembly Square is set after 2014, as the Apartment contains the Creator Expert Volkswagen Camper, released in 2014.
  9. This one? Brick, Modified 2 x 3 x 3 with Cutout and Lion Head
  10. Thanks again, then! :D
  11. A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away... santa falcon by The Nev, on Flickr Because why wouldn't Santa fly a custom millennium falcon?
  12. Thanks! Although I must admit, it is in fact a digital build. Thanks also, glad you like it!
  13. Interesting suggestion, thanks!
  14. Thanks! I was going to throw some microscale horses in, but I couldn't figure out anything both small enough and horsey enough. Smallest thing that slightly resembled a horse was the height of a house!
  15. Thanks for the feedback, and thanks for the advice on the details. I did originally try putting the village on dark tan plates, but I wasn't happy with how it looked with the roofs in the same colour. I agree completely about the fence, not entirely happy with the scale of it compared to the buildings, I tried using spikes, etc, but they didn't fit together well enough to my liking. That concept with the rods sounds intriguing, but would definitely take some effort in the digital designer.
  16. Thanks for all the compliments - I'm glad you guys like it! I'm really happy that although its quite basic in design it still works well! Also glad that the small details didn't go unnoticed :D
  17. Equos Valley - The Valley of The Horses A free build for Avalonia Task 3. Front by The Nev, on Flickr The Equos Valley is home to one of the few remaining villages of the Equicius Clan, Vallis. Nestled amongst the rugged cliffs is the river known by locals as the Equos River, the namesake of the valley, and source of one of the valley's landmarks; the Tonitrui Falls. Waterfall by The Nev, on Flickr The other primary landmark is an ancient staircase, carved into the side of the cliffs by the hands of men long past. The stairs serve the village as a useful route to the lush plains upon the plateau where they can foster their herds when feed is scarce among their usual ranges in the plains below. Cliffs & Stairs by The Nev, on Flickr The cliffs are rumoured to support other, less wholesome forms of life as well; legends of old tell of trolls that inhabit the cliff-side caves. Although no one has encountered any such creature to the knowledge of the villagers, there are tales of some brave few who ventured out, seeking the trolls, to never return... As for the village itself, a strong wall surrounds the buildings within, protecting its inhabitants from any external force. These inhabitats are mostly distanced members of families within the Equicius Clan, although there are a few residents foreign to the clan. The village sustains itself on the breeding of horses, regularly engaging in trade down the river, as well as along the roads to the north and south. The local blacksmith forges shoes for the steeds and tools for the farmers, as well as armour and weapons for the troops that guard the gate. The market serves as a place for villages to buy, sell and barter goods amongst themselves, occasionally even hosting a trader or two from downstream who ventured to the valley to sell their wares. labelled village by The Nev, on Flickr River by The Nev, on Flickr Extra views of the whole build: Wide View by The Nev, on Flickr Back by The Nev, on Flickr OOC: Overall I'm pretty happy with this, my first large build. I wanted to draw emphasis to the cliffs and topography of the land, without crowding things with too much busy noise.
  18. Overall a really good build! I especially like the exterior architecture of the tavern building, its a really good style and you've executed it really really well! Well done!
  19. Not that I know of, although if a rumour is based purely on speculation, its impossible to disprove until the set is released. I.e with the Chinese figs, they were disproved because they existed and were found to belong elsewhere. But if I say it will be a Hospital, there is no evidence to prove me wrong except for the modular itself when it isn't a hospital. There was also someone else (can't remember who) over the last few pages, dropping apparent cryptic clues as to what it will be, I remember one was along the lines of "The building will be one that has been a part of the city for a long time", probably hinting at a police station, and it was said as if they knew on authority that this was factual information about the next modular. You probably know the comment I'm talking about, but I can't for the life of me remember who or when it was. But without further explaination of how they know, or any supporting evidence, how can we know what to think of this rumour?
  20. Thanks for the feedback! You know, I didn't notice the revolver, so thanks for pointing that out! Might go for a redesign and find him a new shirt... Rendering was pretty easy for all these builds as there isn't too much to render, but its starting to prove a challenge with the next moc I'm working on, 64x64 and different textures in high quality doesn't get along very well with my graphics processor so far, just low quality test images of sections of the build are taking longer than the high quality render of the 32x32 took!
  21. Thanks for clearing it up! Google Translate is often dodgy, and I suspected that this translation was pretty inaccurate.
  22. Just ran it through google translate as Chinese, top right text is "full hundred", centre text is "Integrity People's Paradise". out of curiosity, I also ran it through Japanese, centre is "Shunsin Magazine", top right is "Luo". Google doesn't return any notable results for Shunsin magazine or integrity people's paradise.
  23. Not sure if I believe that those figs are from the 2019 modular. Usually the modulars come with a real variety of people, each with a unique character, and from all walks of life. These are all too similar to each other, there's not the diversity that we usually see. But who knows, things could be drastically changing, after all, who would've predicted that they would move away from the standard smile faces? Time will reveal the mysteries I suppose, I just hope it isn't too long a time! And if this is a real leak of the modular minifigs, then hopefully that means that Lego will come out with an official release very soon!
