I was thinking the same thing, it looks like it has some great parts. (But when I buy games, it is for the parts, like the orient bazaar game was lovely for parts).

Three Flavors of Ford Model A's (All on Lego CUUSOO)
lorax replied to Brickadier General's topic in LEGO Town
I absolutely love these (and have supported them on Cuusoo). They are all so beautifully built. (The gangster car is my favourite, perfect shape and so much delicious chrome). -
This is really cute, I especially love the expression.

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 7 Discussion
lorax replied to whung's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I think the rocker female was designed by a child of the 80s... she is very Jem and the Misfits (which is awesome, I loved the show and the dolls). -

Aussie sales! Share the news of LOCAL sales!
lorax replied to Darth_Legois's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Wow, I ordered 2 online during that Christmas layby period, I won't get them until end Nov/Dec and only 2. So $58.66 is amazingly cheap. -
I think these are really cool, they are far better than my attempts at building space stuff. Your 4 year old has some excellent skills (I especially love the top one). Here are my toddlers first attempts (at 2 1/2) of building a lego airplane (it was her first MOC). Abi's airplane (aged 2 1/2) by tikitikitembo, on Flickr

I think $3.99 is the toys r us full price for the minifigs (that is how much we have always paid there (except when they are 3 for $10). But I agree, I wouldn't put money on getting the minifigs for 20% off the 3 for $10 price) (Although, if you do, post, because I will be in there within 20 minutes . I am thinking about the public transport set from toy r us (but I am always thinking of that one, it just seems just that little bit dear for what it is). -
I agree... so poor. But happy :) I have just received my Lego ideas book and the Sean Kenney cool city book from Amazon UK (much cheaper than buying them in Australia). They are both awesome books, and I can't wait to use the stickers from Sean's book in something I build.

That makes sense why the price was higher when they checked their computer based on set number (and why one store showed the set when searching on SKU, but couldn't find the set on the shelf based on my description. -
A Guide to building a Medieval Village
lorax replied to Derfel Cadarn's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Your instructions are amazing Derfel Cardarn. Thanks so much for taking the time to share your amazing building techniques. I just ordered some parts from bricklink so I can try some of the building techniques. *doing my part in pushing up the price of 1x1 round plates -

I did ring my husband to check the local BigW stores.... just in case. On the online checker thing, one said no stock and one said low stock (which usually means no stock). But I am an optimist and hopefully he finds one. I hope your order does go through. Edit: we rang 2 stores and checked 2 other stores and they had no stock left in store (although one store's computer indicated it still had one, but it was not to be found). Although they did say the price was for online only as their computer was indicating that it was discontinued stock, but for sale for $98. -

Wow... sadly sold out now, I wish I had seen this earlier, that is an awesome price. -
Wow, I also had not seen this today and I agree, this is amazing and inspiring. This MOC has so many elements that on there own would be brilliant (the boats, the building, the cars) but together they are just perfect.

Winners of the Spaghetti Western Competition
lorax replied to I Scream Clone's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Congratulations to the winners. There are some amazing MOCs here. -
I love this, I love the classic feel of this mixed with some nice design features and new playability. I especially love the modular nature of this build, it is really clever. The lighting is also a great touch. Great work.

This was an excellent review of a really lovely set. As soon as I saw this set for sale, I knew I needed to own it. We bought one and at the last minute modified it just slightly for a display that was running that had a small gap. We ran the windmill off a power function medium motor, which is why we changed it around a little. DSC_5128 by Matt_Henry_Aus, on Flickr Oh and I especially love the goats and chickens, I nearly bought another set to get some more

Age: 34 Age you started building: about 4, I had older siblings and a huge box of Lego to play with. Country: Australia Occupation: Servant of the Public (legislation stuff) Married: yes Children: Two, a lovely teenager and a lively toddler Does your spouse or child/children build: my husband is building right now, my teenager doesn't, my toddler sticks 'buttons' (1x1 round plates) on everything we build, does that count as building? Do you have close friends who build: no (unless you count my husband) Do you build together with your friends: I do build with my husband, we are very different in how and what we build, but we offer advice to each other Do you regularly attend Lego conventions: I have, but it definitely isn't regularly (in Australia I think there is less of them). How much money do you spend on Lego product a year: Oh dear... I will never admit that, even to myself How much time do you spend building/playing a day: Probably on average 30 minutes to 1 hr Favored theme/themes: Fabuland and the Mickey series that looked like Fabuland Do you primarily collect retail sets, build MOCs, or both? Only MOCs, I buy sets for pieces. Did you experience a "dark age": I have had two, just recently come out of my second one. If yes, what age did you enter your "dark age" I guess at about 15 and again at around 30 What age did you exit your "dark age": 23 and again at 34 Other hobbies (other toy collecting, sports, drawing etc.): I work out, I did roller skate (and train as fresh meat for roller derby) which I want to do again, I also have started doing some stop motion stuff. In your own words what makes Lego bricks so special: They are the medium in which I can express what is inside my head (and it is darn good fun). May I PM you with a request for a personal interview: I very much doubt I am interesting enough for that.

Eurobricks Collectable LEGO Minifigures Series 5 Building Contest
lorax replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Here is my category A - series 5 building contest entry. It is titled. 'My hands are clean' mafia bathroom by tikitikitembo, on Flickr The minifig this is made for is the gangster figure, I tried to make an opulent bathroom where there is no such thing as too much bling... I hope I understood the rules correctly. :) -
I don't rebuild sets, so for me, storing in sets wouldn't be that useful, however, if I was more set focused I would sort in sets. I have always sorted my basic bricks and plates by colour, but until recently I had my small parts sorted by type then colour (For example I had tackle box with modified tiles, sorted into type then colour). So if I wanted a white jumper, I took out the modified tile box. This is ok, but when I build, I find that I might use lots of white small specialty parts, so I have started the slow process of sorting almost everything into colour lots (so if I need lots of small white specialty blocks, I take out the white boxes). So how you sort will reflect your building style (and the way your brain works).

We bought ours from Bricks 'n fun in Brisbane. They have it for $50 (well they did when we bought ours). We have already opened it and built the figs and models we just sat around one night and had turns opening squares. I am not very good with advent calendars. -
Very cool. I especially love the details inside. I have never been inside a mobile testing unit, but it is how I imagine it. Although when I first saw the title, I thought it was going to be a 'divvy van'
