  1. That file extension doesn't appear to pull anything up for me...darn. I'm not having any luck finding the video on the site, either. Edit: Nevermind, found it! Looks like it's just the opening theme done in LEGO, but yes, it's very well done.
  2. It's a relief to me that the Frodo polybag is a TRU exclusive and not the Uruk-hai. I would definitely think twice about buying multiple Uruks if I had to fork over the additional TRU tax.
  3. Thanks again for all the kind comments, everyone! I can't take total credit for it, my little brother helped me out on the concept and the build itself. It turns out he wanted to enter it into the LotR building contest from the newest Lego magazine, so I went ahead and put it up there for him: Frodo to the Rescue I hope to soon! I also think it would be fun to have a Eurobricks LotR vignette build-off. I'd be excited to see what other scenes you guys come up with.
  4. I don't recall seeing this mentioned anywhere, but the URL thehobbit.lego.com is now live. It's just a teaser site for now, but still pretty neat!
  5. Great review! I'll definitely be getting this set; it's a vast improvement over the last version, and that Amidala minifig...
  6. Wow! I definitely wasn't expecting all the compliments - thank you all! I was quite happy with how this turned out; as some of you said, it's one of the more emotional moments in the trilogy and I hoped to capture just a bit of that. Thanks, Bilbo! I was debating on what technique to use for the water, and in the end this turned out the best for this particular build. You are correct, sir.
  7. Hi guys! Just thought I'd share my first-ever LEGO MOC, entitled "Frodo to the Rescue". I had some help from my 10-year-old little brother on this. Link: Frodo to the Rescue *Sorry for the link, apparently we can't embed Flickr photos? Oh well.
  8. I'm not seeing your point here. The Rancor Pit has actually been announced; Thor: TDW sets haven't. Seems pretty simply to me.
  9. Like Clone O'Patra, I don't doubt that there will be sets based on the film. But you're deriving an awful lot from that mural. Don't forget that Lego likes to show current sets/minifigures at conventions. With the exception of Aquaman, all of the Superhero minifigs in the mural are from 2012 sets.
  10. Picked up 8095 General Grievous Starfighter on clearance at Target for $34.98.
  11. This basically sums up my thoughts as well. The thing that bothers me the most about the Comic-Con minifigs isn't the fact that they're exclusive, but the fact that there were four exclusives - making it almost impossible for someone to get all of them, even if they attended the convention.
  12. 8097 has been discontinued and can't be easily found anymore, so an AotC version of Slave I might be possible. I'd personally rather see a Kamino playset however.
  13. That's a great idea, Fives. I think LEGO could pull off a great Hobbiton set, similar in style to the Diagon Alley set.
  14. I almost bought these when I was at the Downtown Disney LEGO Store the other day. I'm looking for a good way to display my rare minifigs, and this seems like a decent option (although I wasn't thrilled about the fact that they aren't 100% dust proof, either). But reading through this review, it seems there are better display case options out there. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
  15. The Rancor is easily 3x the size of Hulk. Even by just looking at it, it's pretty easy to see that it's roughly triple the height of your typical minifigure.
  16. WOW!!!!! The Rancor Pit is too cool for words. And that Bag End set.....
  17. Great review! I'll definitely be picking this one up. I still don't have a Thor minifig.
  18. Ugh....it's great except for that much-too-small canopy.
  19. There were several rumors swirling about what the newly announced set would be; granted, Lord of the Rings didn't stand as good of a chance as a new theme, but it was a possibility. Don't forget, Comic Con is next week. There's a good chance we'll see some Lego LotR and/or Hobbit news come out of San Diego.
  20. I'm thinking that somewhere around the $200 mark sounds about right.
  21. As is being discussed over in the Star Wars forum, the announcement today is for the UCS B-Wing. So no LotR set, sadly.
  22. After watching the video I'm pretty....underwhelmed. First of all, I'm disappointed that this isn't minifigure scale. It really isn't far off, and it wouldn't have been hard to include a few new minifigures. But my biggest complaint has to be the cockpit. The Jedi Interceptor cockpit just doesn't fit well, it looks like it's drowning in the rest of the cockpit assembly.
  23. I wouldn't count on it being released as an official set (much less as part of next year's lineup). But the concept itself is interesting: Emperor's Royal Guard TIE/In
  24. Pardon the randomness of my comment, but I just can't shake the excitement from this line! LotR was my #1 most-wanted theme, so it's still hard to believe it's now a reality. I'm getting really excited for Comic Con next week. I'm hoping for some new set reveals there (maybe even a hint at The Hobbit sets).
  25. Where is this Ewok Village idea suddenly coming from? Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see it. I just don't recall there being any strong clues pointing to it.
