  1. Hi everyone I finally finished my first moc (creations for the Eurobricks contests not included). Not that I haven't made anything else before, it's just that I never actually finished something. I present you an electric sports car. As it is electric there's no fake engine or gearbox, but that results in some extra space for other functions like a collapsable spoiler / air brake and a retractable roof - 2 XL motors for driving. There is a switch in the front so you can choose between 4WD or only the rear wheels. Doesn't seem to make a lot of difference here. The car is so heavy that driving is limited anyway. - 1 L motor for steering. Steering wheel also turns. - 1 L motor for the spoiler / air brake - 1 L motor for the roof - Independent suspension (but honestly the weight of the car is too high for the suspension. Compared to what some of you manage to create this isn't that well looking. I am proud of the front and the retractable roof however. As I still have a lot to learn all suggestions and feedback are very welcome. Yes, that's Bugatti wheels. I also did use the Bugatti distances between wheels as a starting point. Colors do not perfectly align, but this was a bit driven by what pieces I had available, and I didn't want to add another color to the mix. Never before did I do any curved body work like this. I think it worked out ok in the front but by the time I reached the back I was starting to run out of appropriate pieces so there it's less refined. The little right knob on the right side of the driver seat starts the two Control+ hubs: Fancy white interiour: The back, spoiler collapsed. Note that the spoiler doesn't only collapse down but also inward (a bit more clear in the movie): The back, with spoiler in spoiler mode: Spoiler in air-brake mode: Upside down including the Control+ hubs: Video (needed my phone to control the car so had to use the webcam to film, so quality is not great). https://vimeo.com/447809384 (forgot how to embed Vimeo video's. Anyone know how?)
  2. Thanks a lot! A while ago I tried to make such a mechanism that has a different speed depending on the direction, and I couldn't get it to work. Now at least I understand better why.
  3. Absolutely love this non-typical usage of Technic!
  4. Makes sense. Thanks for the clear explanation.
  5. Love it! What are the gear ratio's? A assume they are the same between each consecutive pair?
  6. I love the app, only still have problem with the servo functions (control+). I would like to test this latest version but don't have Google play; can you upload the apk?
  7. Sadly I was wrong: if there is any load on the output axle it stops turning. Also tried with a worm gearing that slides but same result. Finally found out that the problem is that the output axle needs to turn in different directions. If I add or remove one gear so if works as a rectifier there is no problem and you can put load on the output axle. Suggestions welcome ;-)
  8. That's actually a good idea, I'll try it out. Looks nice but it does result in two different output axles however. I'll check if I can combine them using differentials. Edit: I got it working. First diff splits the input, the two yellow knobbed gears (or whatever you call them) are limited to rotating only in one direction. Then one side is geared up, and the second diff brings the two back together. Works very fluently!
  9. Hi I'm asking for your help for a mechanism: - One axle in - One axle out - With input in one direction the output should be slow / high torque - With input in the other direction the output should be fast / low torque I assume something like this could be done using differentials but I can't figure it out. Alternatively I tried with a driving ring and idling gears but that wasn't very reliable. Any ideas?
  10. 2. Destruction Buggy & Trebuchet To survive in this post-apocalyptic wasteland I decided to mount a huge shovel on top of my buggy that's capable of getting rid of everybody on my way. A secondary weapon is a trailer mounted trebuchet. The extra weight of the shovel as well as towing the trebuchet required some extra power, so the buggy was fit with a massive V8. A small wheel on the back of the buggy allows you to play around with the shovel (see video). Topic:
  11. I used to salvage springs from ballpoint pens ;-)

  13. Incredible work! Every time I see stuff like this I realise how much I still have to learn.
  14. I think I gave enough now (or I will need to buy a buy a bigger table)
  15. Impressive! How many days of GPU training did that require?
  16. Amazing! +1 for the terrible funfair music ;-) Can you add some high-res pictures of the final model?
  17. Congratulations, I didn't think anybody would beat the price I got so soon. Have fun with it.
  18. Is it just me or do the Control+ motors make way less noise? I didn't really like the sound of the previous motors, but I just got the Liebherr and it totally didn't bother me now.
  19. In the fine print it says you can't combine it with other actions, so you'll have to be happy with the 20%. Didn't know you had Colruyt/Dreamland in Luxembourg, good for you! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Update: Apparently they didn't read their own fine prints and it was cumulative! This, of course on top of their list price of €399 which is already an 11% reduction. Total payed: €279.30 which is bout 38% below the Lego list price of €449 ;-) Not bad for a set that has just been released. I wasn't the only one hunting this deal today, as I had the last box of the second Dreamland I visited.
  20. Dreamland Belgium again, coming soon: 20% off if you spend €150 or more: https://www.dreamland.be/e/nl/dl/actie-sint-speelgoed?utm_source=wepublish&utm_medium=folder&utm_campaign=W19_NL Think I'll wait a little bit longer for the Liebherr
  21. For those in Belgium: at Dreamland 10% of Technic until the 27th, including 42100. https://www.dreamland.be/e/nl/dl/actie-lego-bouwdozen A few weeks ago they actually had 25% of, but that was probably to make room for the Liebherr boxes ;-) (Heart says: get yourself a Liebherr; mind says: you already have enough)
  22. For me playing Lego is also about being away from the computer for a few hours. Also phone is to small, and laptop takes up a spot where you could otherwise fit some Lego boxes (Tablet sounds rather nice, but not everybody is in need for yet another device). It's really great that Lego provides all digital instructions but this shouldn't be an excuse to ditch the paper ones. On the environmental & cost effectiveness: Bigger, more advanced sets (e.g.: BWE, Rough terrain crane) are not bought by first time players, so there is no need for a single instruction per page. By combining steps it would easily be possible to print the instructions of both A and B model using the same amount of paper.
