Yes I said 'Howdy' *sweet* You heard me correct I'm introducing myself here, though I've been shadowing the forums for nearly a month! lol I live in wonderful little Flanders in Belgium. I'm 15, and will be 16 this October This September I'll be in fifth grade Humane Science(to Americans that's eleventh grade, we start from one again when we hit seventh grade :-) ) Finally, so close to the end :-P I love history and travelling and I find this corner of the globe (the Benelux) though lovely, to be quite a boring place. :-/ I hope I don't get beaten up by the entire Belgian/Dutch community here for saying that :-D One thing that I already can tell from posting on these forums is that I definitely do not have enough LEGO! :-D

Upon putting it on he's probably sitting there reading the manual Thank you for purchasing the newest type of personal flotation device. Use with caution, may corrode in water. Not to be used as an inflatabale water toy. 8-| Haha, no one can beat me now, I shall stay afloat, no matter the situation I must be quick to test it out however! *jumps in water* little bubbles and circles of water on the surface*

The Many Adventures of the Whacker and the Walrus
Opproperaar replied to Hinckley's topic in Brick Flicks & Comics
yes but he still speaks Dutch doesn't he? And I loved the comic btw, it's such simple humor yet it cracked me up, looks very professional too *y* I've always loved humor that involves 'sensitive' areas (self service pump, anyone? ;-)), so I found it (but the rest of the story as well) outright hilarious! Can't wait for the part where they speak *cough *cough Flemish *cough eh ... I mean Dutch. Jee, I hope Mr Tiber won't beat me up now. 8-| -
Now there'll be competition between forum members to buy this :-D

Cool minifigs, I must have more myself Crazy Ripper experience ON! *y*

Or a Belgian police vehicle, the car's from a police expo or something I think Don't think our cops actually drive those while on duty. ;-) Though that would be sweet http://images.google.be/imgres?imgurl=http...l%3Dnl%26sa%3DG

Hey yeah, I got a 403 link as well, but when I copy and paste the link and put it in an empty URL it works for me. Thanks for sharing these plans ;-)

well indeed, the contest might've been my most random idea up to date, but the legal issues are there. There are fans of LEGO who won't despite being a fan stop for nothing to sue lego and perhaps get rich. If you can prove in court that someone else makes money off your idea, well needless to say they have rules against that and copyright etc. And there's no question that when pirates comes back it'll sell good and the last TLC wants is a fan who claims it was their idea to bring it back.
-
Perhaps we could have a little contest. Every member could have a go at drawing an original concept for the petition picture (for those members that can draw ;-) ) and the best design would be chosen to go in photoshop. I have a friend who does have photoshop, perhaps I could ask him, though I'm sure there are enough people on these forums who have it and will gladly do it for a fellow AFOL. Second, TLC has a long standing policy that prohibits it from accepting outside ideas. Mainly because it'd cause a lot of legal issues and not to mention the danger of getting sued. Therefore, when we contact them with the idea to bring back pirates (which certainly has my vote :-D ) we'll stand little chance of them accepting this idea unless we can somehow guarantee nobody will sue them and that might prove far harder than it may seem.

I have one more suggestion, and it might prove easy to do, you could make the masts slender as they go up, same with the bowsprit and perhaps change the colour of the masts like in this picture, that would also make it look better. I'll include a picture to clarify what I mean ;-) Other than that, keep it up, it has improved a lot *y*

May I say; nice paintjob *y* I can't help but looking at him, your minifig seems, to grin like he has something strangely perverse, not to mention sadistic in mind and he's already enjoying himself by the mere thought of it. ;-)

Captain Jack Sparrow and Captain Barbossa Mosaics
Opproperaar replied to SirNadroj's topic in Pirate MOCs
Wow, you must have a lot of patience to create them though, the closer you get, the more it spoils the effect, the farther you get, the better they look, but I guess that's the thing with mosaics, especially lego mosaics *sweet* Keep up the good work *y* -
Well written story, I might say *y* and the pics go nicely with them though as Mr Tiber said, adding some fighting soldiers in the background or perhaps, a brush or tree might spice it up a little

I have only one thing to say when confronted with such brick glory ... Can I come to your house and play? ;-)

I don't know how many minifigs you made and put on your model but on LDD they cost

Help me, I'm in my dark ages!
Opproperaar replied to Western Forever's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I think lego should open a series of stores for AFOLs and TFOLs only, that way, nobody would feel 'ashamed' of buying it, would they? well, not strictly AFOLs and TFOLs only, I mean other people can come shop there, but imagine a store with this big sign in the window display that says, WE WANT MORE AFOLS AND TFOLS TO SHOP HERE or something in that general direction, don't really know what the slogan would have to look or sound like. :) Man, you're lucky he's gay so that he won't judge you, in modern day society, people are all too eager in judging others, I guess if you're gay you indeed have to be open minded :-D -
Help me, I'm in my dark ages!
Opproperaar replied to Western Forever's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Wow good to know I'm not the only one with the same problem out there (I'm 15) Just as Wester, Forever, I don't feel guilty about owning, well guilty's not the word, I can't get myself to buying them. A couple of months ago, me and a couple of friends went to town and saw this really cool toy store that had some cool looking Lego sets in the window display. I stopped, checked the price and everything of course, when I got comments from my 'friends' about how playing with lego is at least a bit silly at my age. :S It came as a shock to me since I know these people for a long time now, a couple of years at least, and this seemed to be the first time they disagreed with me. What a shocking experience that was. I ended up not buying the set (which though I wanted it, it was too expensive anyways for my taste) I hate dark ages, btw :-D When I see all the stories of fathers here on Eurobricks I can't help imagining a father arguing with his son over Lego. The father yells at his kid that it's his lego and not the child's. After which the kid proceeds to pinch his dad and bite him :-P After that the dad yells even harder so the neighbours can hear him and the kid finally topples over and destroys the big MOC daddy has been working on for so long. I'm sure none of the fathers here actually argue with their kids over Lego but it seems so funny if it would happen. :-D :-D :-D -
I don't really get your question, could you perhaps clarify? :-$

Wait, he means this ship I think, don't you? It's truly an original idea though, I wouldn't have come up with it myself. :-P Upon reading it I always felt it was a beautiful ship, unlike the pirate it meets in the album, you could so easily see that the pirate ship was quickly drawn without attention to detail or anything else for that matter. :-P I couldn't get a better pic of the internet but since I have the album right here, I guess I could scan it, though I'm not sure on how I could get a good image from a comic book, I can't get it under the scanner properly.
-
May I first say, before I comment on your MOC, that as a Belgian I feel proud that you've tried and do a ship from one of the adventures of Tintin, those comic books are truly the greatest *wub* *wub* It's a nice try when you're working with a digital design program (especially for me, since I can't seem to get the hang of either LDD or MLCAD :-| ) I have one suggestion though, why don't you try (unless you think its too late for that) and make the hull a bit wider? It seems awfully narrow for a 34 gun ship. And one more question: Are all the masts in place or are you going to add a third mast?
-
Wow, that sucks :-| It reminds me so much of those times I was playing on XboxLive and my dad felt it was enough. He pulled the plug as well in the middle of a game :-P I guess it's more common that I thought
-
I'd say a normal book :) By means of cross sections it shows the life aboard a ship of the line around 1800, near the end it has an overview of the 800 men aboard such a ship catagorized according to rank and profession, like you did with your figs, it displays the admiral first and the sailors last. And of course, their costumes. There are however way more different costumes than your minifigs have ;-)

Well, he's got us there, jealousy crept up, must have lego, * walks to the store in a zombie like fashion *

Blue figs before the guards. Always, they're navy men while the guards are marines, and what's better than marines? Navy men. Ain't nothing going to beat that. :-P They're naval officers while the redcoats are marines. I still prefer naval officers though.

Well, it's my bro's account, I didn't realise he was still signed in and accidently posted under his name, if you must know.
