I think this is the first modular that would work a lot better as a double set... from the looks of things, you can't fill up a car in that garage easily? Do we think one of the modular cars would fit underneath, or would they need to hang off the edge of the road? Seems like a strange choice... if you bought two, and set the building back a little further with the gas station as the corner, then I think that would work really well. You could also have two car lifts and two entires into the garage. I love that they've incorporated a working car lift! Can't wait to see how that works!!!

I like it a lot more from these extra images... I still think it looks somewhat like a fold out 3-in-one Creator building... kinda works for how it separates the different departments though...

Because people are pedantic, and the lack of a solid leak is making everyone anxious and illogical... either that, or they missed the 3rd December announcement. Really looking forward to Monday! -

Whoop! A leak! I think the idea of a garage is cool! We have nothing like it, so it should be a really fun build! I love the idea of a mini figure with the mask on as he’s working with the blow torch on the car, and if they could have one of those lifts for the car themselves, I think that would be really cool, so the mechanics can work underneath the vehicles etc. too! Tyre racks, workshop table etc. This could be awesome! -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

I think it's a police station. I think Lego has chosen to answer that Tweet in particular, as it's the perfect way to say, "Look, we've given you a hint all along, but the official announcement was just a few weeks later..." The DO retiring as well... I think the timing is right. I do agree with everyone else though and @The_Nev in particular. Having read the section on the lead up to the 'Detective Agency' (Detective Office), I think we've missed out on a whole bunch of speculating, and wanting certain buildings isn't as fun as wanting to discuss what a particular set will look like... we may miss out on that entirely unless there's a leak by week end. I was hoping to see the set in its official form on Monday, but actually, I've changed my mind. Fingers crossed there's another rumour that hints at a police station from Lego themselves... or they actually give us the name of the set! I suppose we'll switch from what will it look like to what it should have looked like on Monday.... -
Does the ski lift actually work? Does Lego have the ability to make something like that work? Honestly, with or without it working, this is incredible... such a scene! Love it!

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Yes, very true... though I think the BB's way of coinciding with the laundromat was genius! Super cool that you're still here posting! That's a lot of years to be an AFOL! SWEEEEEEET! That's great news! Thanks for keeping us in the loop! And in December too to give us that Christmas feeling - eek! Can't wait! Fingers crossed there's no leak before then - it would be great to have the announcement in official documents, rather than a low res scan from somewhere else. We've waited this long, it'd be loads better to see it from Lego themselves. Lego are doing a great job of keeping things under wraps. Bravo to them! -

I'm in the process of reading through this entire thread whenever my computer is rendering a film. I just stumbled across this post from 2014, shortly after PaperBallPark mentioned that the next modular would be a Detective's Agency. It's amazing to me, being a new AFOL, that people are so accurate with their guesses and explanations. This is nearly the description of what would become the Detective's Office, and it's uncanny that Roger would also mention a Laundromat, which would appear the following year alongside the Brick Bank. Loving this thread. Not one to dig up the past on forums, but I thought others may find this interesting. I am really looking forward to the next rumour. I still think it's going to be a Police Station. Really excited to see it too! -

Yes, or maybe the 28th November, as that will also be a Wednesday? To be honest, I think the Downtown Diner video was shown earlier than planned last year due to the leak. I think it may be December 1st... one month before... I think that makes more sense to be honest... but I'm a newbie really... I've only been into them for 15 months or so, so the Downtown Diner was my first witnessing of an announcement... really excited too though! I just picked up the Grand Emporium today on eBay (new) for Christmas... so I'm super excited for that, and then I don't really mind when I get the new modular. I might wait for this time next year to get it in a Black Friday sale... I have a lot to catch up on and not a lot of spare time... Like you say though, I just can't wait to see what it is that they've been working on!!! -

Fingers crossed for a Cyber-Monday announcement - come on, Lego - you can do it!!! I honestly don't mind what we get... just as long as the modular line continues for another few decades, which I'm sure it will! If I had to say what I'd like though, I'd go with the unpopular choice of having a Police Station. I get that we already have the Detective's Office, but I think a town needs a police station. You can always have the fancy detective, but the police protect the city; the detective solves the unsolvable crimes. Either that, or a hospital. I'm not keen on other police sets. I'd like a mature building - one for grown ups, rather than all that blue window stuff that we seem to get with the City sets. If it was done with a really nice facade, I think everyone would fall in love with it! That said, everyone here has great ideas, and I'd honestly love a Post Office too, after seeing the MOC! -
Do you do PhotoShop tutorials online?! I love your work! The road plates are insane, but your PhotoShop work is even better!!! This thread kept me entertained whilst waiting for the new modular leak!!! :O)

Haha! Sweet! Great to have similar interests. I guess we can be friends, after all. Looking forward to seeing the pictures! I just picked up the Lego Holiday Train set, so I'm looking forward to building that alongside the Winter Toy Shop as a Christmas display beneath the tree! Looking forward to seeing what you've built! -

Detective's Office, Brick Bank and Tower Bridge retiring soon?
RuffDraft replied to brickmeistro's topic in LEGO Town
This is great advice. Last year, there were so many sets for sale. The only one that I paid full price for was the PR. I got DO (£119), BB (£103.99) and AS (can't find the receipt, but I think it was £140). This year, I'm wondering if the DD will go into the sale.. if it does, I may think about leaving the 2019 modular building until Christmas next year instead.- 51 replies

Thanks, Foreman-Alex! Appreciate the welcome! I think Lego is pretty popular in the UK... but I guess it's popular all over the world. I love visiting the London store, and my local one in Liverpool. What do you like to build?! Thanks, dr_spock - it's great to be here! I went to Canada in 2012. Loved it! Vancouver, Whistler and Banff. I had a great time! What do you like to build?! -
TRAIN TECH Help, General Questions & Talk to the Staff
RuffDraft replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Thank you very much for this advice. It's a shame that it won't fit, but I had a feeling that was the case. The circumference of the winter holiday train set is 70cm - so I'm 10 cm out. Frustrating, but ah well! I'll just have to look forward to when I get my new layout in a year or two. I'm still living with my parents, so space is tight at the moment, and the reason I am in no rush to build my modular buildings. I'd quite like to have switch tracks too! Looking forward to having a look around and seeing everyone's train setups on this forum! I just bought my first Lego Train set! Thank you everyone! I purchased the following items: 10254 Winter Holiday Train V29 8879 Power Functions IR Speed Remote Controller V95 8884 Power Functions IR RX V120 88000 Power Functions AAA Battery V46 88002 Power Functions Train Motor V46 60205 Tracks V29 60238 Switch Tracks V29 I doubt that I'll have much use for the extra tracks, but I bought them in case our Christmas Tree is too wide at the base, as we have quite a large metal base for our tree, which we go to buy every year. The switch track I thought would be a cool place to store the train and potentially use in a bigger configuration at a later date... If the train could enter from the switch track, then I thought that would be cool... just adds a tiny bit of personalisation to a circular track... no idea if this will be possible, but I assume that it will be! I bought the other additional items as that was what Lego recommended to get the Winter Holiday Train up and running. Am I missing anything, or does this look about right? Thanks everyone! Really looking forward to the build and having it around our Christmas tree!- 578 replies

Yeah, the Police Station that I'd like to build alongside yours is this one: The Old Police Station That's really cool that you include those complexities into your builds too!!! There are so many talented Lego builders - so glad I found my way to the hobby. -
TRAIN TECH Help, General Questions & Talk to the Staff
RuffDraft replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Thank you for such a lovely opening message! It's a pleasure to be here! Thank you for your help with the wheels - great to hear that you have two sets as well - you must really like it?! Have you linked your carriages together, or do you run them as two separate trains on two tracks?! Glad to hear such great feedback on the Winter Train set too. I'll possibly pick it up in a week or so, and get it built in time for when the Christmas tree goes up! Thanks very much for your history breakdown - very detailed and exactly what I was after! I guess I'm better off buying the newer technology? I have looked at the Emerald Night, as I know it is greatly revered, but I think it's just a vast amount of money at its current price for someone like me who doesn't know much about trains. I hope Lego, at some point in the future, will release a train that is its equivalent or shortly behind its level of brilliance, but I'm sure that I'm not alone in this line of wishful thinking. I do love how realistic the Emerald Night looks, and much prefer that look to the more industrial trains like the Cargo Train (definitely doesn't fit with my city) or Horizon Express (though that looks mighty impressive too - especially when you add more carriages, but I think they're too large for my small setup). The Passenger train set that was re-released this year looks pretty awesome if you have two sets as well, like Jang showcased, but I'd like the form of transportation to look older and more dated in my city; also, there seemed to be some bizarre design choices with that one, as you couldn't gain access to the carriage for a Minifigure etc. I suppose that's why the Winter Holiday Train appeals to me so much. I know that I can get another train that's more realistic in the future, and for the time being, it's a nice, small train that looks older, but has bold colours, which are great and reflective of the modular buildings. In terms of track, are there any elements I should set out to buy, as they'll make my train experience more fun, such as switch tracks? Also, I noticed how some tracks on some videos have wooden pieces attached to them. Are these any particular types of elements? I think building on the track gives it a higher level of realism - really cool! My final question: I have a table that measures 1600 x 600mm (160cm x 60cm), and I wondered if 60cm was wide enough for a train to go around the edge of this table? It's no biggie if not, as I know my table is super slim, and I'll be moving to a larger table in the future, but I thought it'd be cool if I could get it to run on this table that I have now! Thanks very much for your help!- 578 replies

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
RuffDraft replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Do you think anyone would do it for you if you don't have the time? I wouldn't put it passed some AFOLs reaching out to help you. You could give them 10% or something from what you make. I think the Post Office, when paired with a list to brick link, would sell for £20. Yeah, I guess you're right on that front... it is a unique time of year when the new modular arrives... absolutely love it! Haha! I'll be sure to give it a vote now! Great to hear from you, and looking forward to your next builds! -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
RuffDraft replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Very true... I guess the Fishing Store will give us all hope that one day, things might change! :) Some of the ones that actually make it to production have me confused - like the message in a bottle one - I don't get it, and certainly wouldn't buy it. It's creative, but it's not as appealing as say a Post Office or Police Station, and it has no way of being incorporated into a city, really. Do you think you'll ever do instructions for yours? -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
RuffDraft replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Thanks for confirming. Your set does look spectacular though! Fingers crossed we can get your MOC one day! I think Lego's way of controlling the amount of Lego it sells is quite clever, as it does take up a lot of space and people only have so much money in their pockets, and Lego wants to have its own vision for its own product lines, but I would love it if they released one MOC modular building every summer... there's that Police Station that's going around at the moment, and your Post Office building, and both would sell tremendously well, I'm sure....! I do love the building techniques that are incorporated into the official designs, and have no understanding as to whether or not MOCs tend to have a similar level of complexity and detail, but they are pretty spectacular to look at, all the same.
