WTS: Windows/panels & magnets + holders
Sokratesz replied to Sokratesz's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I have multiple people interested in the windows, am going over the PM's on a first-come-first-serve basis :) -
Would something like the control center-II be too much asked for PF? :D

controlling old motors with IR
Sokratesz replied to SNIPE's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Is the standard PF battery box that fits 6xAA batteries. If you connect 3x PF receiver and set them to different channels you can control them with a single remote. You will need a separate PF -> 9V cable for every motor though, and they are expensive. - Sok. -

I received a PM about the double yellow doors 5 minutes before you posted, so I think they are gone. I have 17 double white windows 4x1x2 with the brownish glass, do you want all of them? - Sok. -

Additionally, you can easily power 6 micromotors off of one battery box because they draw so little current. -
I doubt they have made back the R&D cost yet..but hey, they did a shitty job on PF R&D because it has so much unfulfilled potential. I would like to see sales # on their prime sets of the past few decades..

If TLG needs money, all they need to do is re-release 7750 and a few other gems from ye olde days..

NXT Wall-E
Sokratesz replied to Cpusher's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
holy shit that is awesome -
I bought an assortment of train accessories recently that came with a bunch of windows/panels and magnets that I don't need: Let me know if I can help anyone with any of these :) I'm residing in the Netherlands, but even worldwide shipping for small parts like these wouldn't cost more than a few bucks. I accept paypal or bank transfer. - Sok.

WTB: 12v sets, track and accessories
Sokratesz replied to Sokratesz's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Thank you for all that advice :) I'm familiar with Ebay and Marktplaats (the dutch equivalent), and I've acquired quite some stuff over the past month or three at reasonable prices: A 99% complete 7735 at 90E Complete 7722 4.5v train for 25E, and very good working 12v engine for 50 = very neato motorized train set! About 100 straight track and 150 curves - at prices around 1E each for the straight and 75cents for curves. 5 complete electric switchpoints for 35E each 8 manual switchpoints for 10E each A few crossings and minor accessories like a load of original lego rubber loc tires, (3 bucks for 50!), some lights, cables, spare rail parts and other assorted stuff. I'm waiting for my 100% complete 7745 at 160 euro's to arrive in the mail, this included a power supply and at least 50 pieces of rail but don't know exact numbers til I get it :D You're right about the signals, they are stupidly expensive, but I'm waiting on a reply from a seller who was going to give me three of 'em and a train lighting set for 135E :D - Sok. -
I'd doubt it, but I would not mind if they replaced it with a system with as much technical detail as the 12v era had.

Some stuff I built
Sokratesz replied to Sokratesz's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
If I had a truckload more 12L axles I would build one twice as large But that will have to wait unfortunately, there isn't awhole lot of sets with 12L in them. Maybe I could buy a bunch of spare ones off of bricklink... I think the second iteration is the smallest number of pieces for a drive+steer LEGO vehicle..but you are welcome to try and beat me :P -
I'd like to see trains with more technical detail - you have all those PF channels, why not release a PF-S motor (2x2x3 like the 9v micro please?) and make a nice remote controlled railway crane?

Has anyone tried to make a gearbox for the PF trains?
Sokratesz replied to Sokratesz's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Cool, with a few modifications it would certainly fit in there. I'm actually tempted to buy one and try it, but they are 90 bucks over here and my budget is limited. Maybe next month :) -
I re-started my entire lego-hobby last year and so far I've been building some random stuff left and right. I posted all of it on MOCpages but there seems to be quite some activity here as well so why not share? MOCpages overview My crown jewel (incl youtube video) Yay, micromotors :D Sweet 8868 loving More 8868 love! Some of the comments are outdated, I have a lot more Lego now but unfortunately my building time is limited to weekends only. - Sok.

Hey everyone, I recently re-started my 12v train hobby, and I'm looking for reasonably priced sets and accessories from that era. Am looking for 7727 and 7740 in particular, but ebay prices make me I live in the Netherlands so closerby = preferred :) - Sok

I'm tring to find a good picture of how that setup looks but can't find any :( -

Aye, there's an excellent review of all the Lego motors here with detailed measurements. How often do people use M or XL motors for trains though? I've seen quite a few MOC's with them. One would think that adding a gearbox like this would allow for more realistic movement, especially of heavy trains :) -
I second the need for subforums for the different train eras.

Sokratesz replied to Sokratesz's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Well, I don't know how they work exactly but I saw people complain about a lack of speed control on other forums, something about how PF trains run bad at low speeds or something :) -

I made a mockup real quick: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5dfEvgyn34 and http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/274268 Should fit inside a loc :) -
caveat: I do not own any PF trains myself However, I have seen a lot of MOCs using the technology, some extremely pretty. I have also seen people complain about the lack of speed regulation on these trains, because apparently they run either very fast or not at all (is that correct?). If so, has anyone attempted to make a mechanical or motorized gearbox for use in the PF trains? Using f/ex a 9v micromotor or a simple spring/weight assembly it should be possible to make a 2- or even 3-stage gearbox that allows for more realistic speed control. - Sok.
