A few years ago I bought a sword pack from BrickArms. It included the Claymore, Dado, and Damien. I then armed some of my men and set them on the shelf to admire. Now I'm swapping out their swords with Uruk-hai swords, but when I went to put them in their hands the swords slid right through. They'd lost their clutch power. I checked on the minifigs holding the long swords and they were fine, but the three of them that had Dados can no longer hold anything. You can see in the image that the lower (minifigs right hand) is slightly more spread apart. The Culprits http://www.brickarms.com/Dadao.php

I'm pretty sure that was included in LEGO episode of The Toys that Made Us. I would need to rewatch the episode to make sure, but I think the LEGO historian they are interviewing gave that reason. *edit* Found the subtitles for the episode "There's a reason why the first Castle is yellow. It's because the Kirk Kristiansen family were worried if we made it in gray, the children would start to build, uh, tanks... We didn't want that." [narrator] "However, this idea tanked the very next year. And Castles have been tank gray ever since."

Sad news. I checked to see if the LOTR weapons pack is considered an IP element. It looks like it is. This was something I was hoping that would be released on Pick a Brick, but I don't think it will be. {"color":"Silver Metallic","colorFamily":"Silver Met.","description":"ACCESSORIES, SWORD, NO. 7","designId":2674,"isIPElement":true,"imageUrl":"https://www.lego.com/cdn/product-assets/element.img.lod5photo.192x192/6411018.jpg","itemNumber":6411018,"itemQuantity":1,"price":{"amount":0.0,"currency":""},"maxAmount":1,"isAvailable":true,"unavailableReason":null,"isSoldOut":true,"category":"Figure, Weapons","materialType":"ELEMENT"}, -

I'm going to be the pessimist here and say that LEGO is not likely to release the GWP at the same time as the Medieval Market. The forest hideout was released the month before the castle and then again just before the castle, but ran out of stock before the castle was available. I wonder if LEGO intentionally leaks sets with differences like this to track down the leakers. I read an article that Apple does something like that. Changing just a little bit of the information so they can track down who it is.

Latest impact of other themes on historic themes

It looks like Kate and Hawkeye have two different bows. Kate uses a more classic recurve so I hope that the LEGO version doesn’t look too modern. -
You'd better not be messing with me! I missed out on the torsos due to my greed. My local store will allow you to build 3 minifigs and choose 3 accessories. A friend of mine lives by a store that lets you select whichever 12 parts you want. His store sold out before he was able to make it there to buy some for me. I would love to get an order of torsos and dark orange chickens.

Where is 'the line' when it comes to custom parts?

I'll have to try it. I just offloaded the DUPLO parts from my past bulk lots to my neighbors kids. -
Where is 'the line' when it comes to custom parts?
CallMeCarbiz replied to LordsofMedieval's topic in General LEGO Discussion
For the longest time the only exception I allowed in my builds were some minifig swords and custom capes. In the last couple of years I've started using the generic blocks that I get when buying bulk lots to build up the foundation under my builds. So I guess percentage wise I'm not much of a purist, but as far as what you can see I am. I've seen some cool 3D printed stuff that I wish LEGO would make, like some minifig sized Mickey Ears, but for the most part I'm satisfied with what LEGO offers in the brick department. -

No, it means that you get goat accessories, but no goats. And on the topic of minifigs I would like to see? Modernized version of the Dragon Knights, some sort of dragonslayer Modernized version of the Wolf Pack -
It's only my reddish brown bricks that are breaking on me. All of my other bricks hold up just fine. (Okay, when I was young I had very few unbroken saddle clips) But the reddish brown bricks breaking are due to a manufactures defect, so I don't lose any sleep over asking them to replace a few broken elements here and there. In 2018 they said: "If you, at any time, have a LEGO element which doesn’t live up to the standard you’d expect from us – then please don’t hesitate to contact Customer Service and we will send you replacement parts." https://brickshow.com/2018/12/problem-brittle-lego-reddish-brown-bricks-solved

I've used their service a couple of times to replace my "brittle brown" pieces. You can fill out the form on their site, last time they contacted me to clarify which pieces I wanted and then they arrived within 10 days. Right now I'm working on a MOC with a lot of browns, I have 3 brown tiles set aside waiting to be replaced. Yesterday a 1x1 tile practically disintegrated when I removed it with my fingers. https://www.lego.com/en-us/service/replacementparts/broken/enter-set-number

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
CallMeCarbiz replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
My order from 1/17 arrived yesterday! I'm really loving the new non-Friends baby animals that LEGO is making. I've never had so many animals for my medieval farms. I received the emailed receipt from my order on 2/8 and it arrived in the mail on 2/11. I live in Indiana so I'm not too far from the LEGO distribution center near Chicago. -
Lion and Forestmen shields, metal and gold visors, cows, horses and sheep wool pieces are back in stock on PAB. I'm convinced it's a conspiracy to prevent us from ordering all of the parts that we want at once. I still haven't gotten freshmen torsos or green hunters hats yet. And now when I searched for the parts in 40567 I see that they are in stock! I will not place a third order today, I will not place a third order today, I will not place a third order today..

Now the question is, how much will it cost? What will a Wizards of the Coast/D&D tax look like? Will stay below $400? -

Thanks @CastleRail! I found another couple in a bulk lot I picked up this afternoon. Just wish it had included the Mandalorians with them. -
I don't know what the rules are on commenting on someone's unpopular opinion, but 3 medieval castle and 2 viking sets in almost a decade is too much? It sounds like you're not happy that it beat out put-put mini golf. I would have been happy with either, but after almost 10 years we castle and viking fans are hungry for more sets and parts.

I recently found these two capes (brown and olive green) in a lot I bought. They feel like LEGO capes, but they are much narrower than the official cape that I know and love. Did someone take scissors to the official capes or was there a narrower version of the cape made at some point? -
Not my proudest moment, but someone threw away a large bag of LEGO by our community dumpster. There was some foul smelling stuff in the bag. I remember seeing food bits and some of it was slimy. I rinsed it off outside and then filled up a two large king sized pillow cases and ran them through the dishwasher a couple of times. The collection spanned back to the early 90s and was worth the effort, even if it was pretty gross. Not gross, but I've found a really nice Star Trek communicator pin. Most large lots will include coins, marbles, beads, and hair of all sorts.
