Man, these looked pretty good. Aside from the really awesome-looking ones that's leaked earlier, I like that werewolf! However, I'm just curious on one thing, while I'm not sure whether this is known yet but it never hurts to ask - aside from this and the beatboxes, will this theme have regular sets? If memory serves, I do recall there were quite a number of set list leaked. -

On the question of why people didn't really like 2016 wave, was doing some slight reading on past threads and kinda found out at least a couple reasons. Turns out there was some distaste towards the technic-esque techniques used for certain limbs and the color choices on the high usage of silver or gold (which is one of the reasons on why the Mistika Toa Nuva are not that fondly remembered) Of course these most likely only represent some of the community's opinion rather than all. I had a very similar origin too, got into buying Bionicle at the very tail end of Stars (which was also my first entry point of fully going into LEGO), however because it ended and Hero Factory was available in store, I too over went there and became invested. Bigger differences would be in my very younger days, I was aware of the Scholastic books though it's just the covers and pictures that I'm only able to pick-up from. And I was also fortunate enough to have Makuta's and Mata Nui's Guide available in stores to explore the line. But despite that, it wasn't the same as the actual wave being there, so looking back is all I can do. G2, especially 2016 did pretty much gave me the feeling on what it felt like to be part of a Bionicle wave. On another note, I can finally see why in past discussions you were hearkening back to 2010. As someone who also got into LEGO in 2010, I can definitely relate to that. That year certainly have a special charm to it. I will always cherish that crumpled and worn catalogue of mine, exploring the world of bricks and minifigures haha! It's one of my two favorite years of LEGO out of the 11 years even though most of them were already pretty good. Ironically, during the times where scholastic books in the library were my only references to Bionicle, I much prefer the looks of the Nuva more than the Mata. While I do like the Mata as there is a certain charm to them, I never really find them really "cool". I still find the Nuva much more badass than the Mata today. -

I never thought I'd say this, I actually like all the sets revealed! The Arachnoid Base didn't disappoint, looking really good there! The stickers/prints is just killer! Build-wise, it reminds me of Galaxy Squad's Hive Crawler and Exo Force's Combat Crawler & Mobile Devastator. The amalgamations is totally sweet! And it's good to see HF Invasion from Below's beast claw/finger pieces in lime green. Also, it looks even more menacing and cooler in the show too! (Based on the leaked shots) I used to not have any hope for Mei's Jet but I'm definitely glad to have been proven wrong! I did not expect the Jet to looked this mindblowingly good! I feel that the addition of teal just works so well. And all those angles too! Same with Red Son's Jet, really dig that rocket-esque shape instead of a conventional jet. MK's Lion Guardian, I'm pleasantly surprised with that. With the MK prefix and also based on the leaked cartoon version earlier, I wasn't really impressed, But the set managed to turn that around with the retainment the legendary looks of those lions without looking mech-ish or goofy. As with Monkie Kid's Cloud Bike set, I'm actually happy that we're getting dual-factioned bikes showdown again, Ninjago's Desert Lightning and Street Race of Snake Jaguar was awesome. Both bikes look pretty decent but what I really dig was the Spider Biker's helm, a great reuse of those type of helmets. The Legendary Flower Fruit Mountain does give me the vibe of what it suggest - legendary. And I find the amount of monkeys in that set pretty cute haha! Also, glad to have Macaque to finally exist as a minifigure! Overall, I'm definitely pleasantly surprised with this wave! -

That would be really cool and could make The Flower Fruit Mountain much more fun if that's the case. You make pretty good points on why there isn't much villains sets this wave, given what we have. And indeed things could change too. I thought the Spider Queen was a one-off thing with Sandy's Speedboat, but now there's additional grunts and the Arachnoid Base. -
LEGO Ninjago 2021
JJ Tong (zfogshooterz) replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
While I'm not too keen on the idea of Ninjago set in space (Which is one of the primary reasons on why season 3 was one of my least favorites seasons), I'm definitely down with the other three ideas in one way or another! In fact, these ideas could even be partially combined into a complete wave/season. Where with the huge mysterious kaijus as the enemies being battled by the Ninja with animal-esqued vehicles that combines super robot style. While the current ninja vehicles are in-theme to the wave, a more cohesive group of ninja vehicles would be a breath of fresh air. I also got to agree with how nicely Ninjago take unexpected ideas and manage to still fit those into the theme. And even aside from those, there's also still plenty of materials from Japanese pop culture to take from too. It would really be awesome if there was a Kamen Rider themed season/sets for Ninjago with the bikes and the bizarre but also very cool armor and unique powers. On another note, while there's all this really cool and funky ideas, it would also be nice for Ninjago at certain times to bring in more focus on the actual Ninjitsu aspects where both the heroes and villains would have to outsmart each other through their very skills alone. A good example and inspiration would be from TMNT 2003's early seasons where the turtles were mostly reliant on their skills, weapons and terrain and both heroes and villains such as The Foot Clan were Ninjas. So yeah, while I do also understand why some people think it should end, I too, don't feel the urgency for that. With the possibilities of the future, I'd say bring it on! -

@mrfang2, you might get your wish after all - more set list has been leaked on instagram and The Legendary Flower Fruit Mountain is part of it. Definitely sounds interesting! Slightly intrigued to check out the Monkie Kid Lion Guardian, the mystical lion guardians in TLNM's 70617 are pretty cool and it would definitely be nice to an expansion to that concept. Not too big on the Monkie Kid prefix since that's suggesting that the color would be MK oriented instead of something unique. And like the jets, don't really care for the cloud bike either. So far it seems there's only two villain sets for this wave, maybe that one unrevealed set number might be one. Sucks that there's no set for the Horned Demons, there's always next time I guess, hopefully. -

Yeah, I am referring to the one 35 seconds in. I admit to have not watch that show (except having seen some images) but that bean-shaped ninja and the whole stylized simplicity of the scene does reminds me of that cartoon (And the two main characters of the show happened to be bean shaped too). At least that's just my guess on why. I don't watch a huge variety of cartoons, so there are many ways I could be mistaken. -

Ooh! I'm really excited to check out the episode with Teen Wu vs. the Time Twins! We may finally get some clues between what's happened between HoT & SoG and the fates of the Time Twins. And I'm pretty intrigued with the black-and-white styled episode too, digging the concept - it's a great flashback material to use for future seasons! As for the Monkie Kid styled episode, not sure how I feel about them as I'm not really a big fan of the show in the first place. Will decide once I've watched it. And....as for the adventure time styled episode....personally, I don't like it. Absolutely not fan of that. It seems that out of five short films, there's only four styles revealed. Looking forward to checking out the fifth. -

JJ Tong (zfogshooterz) replied to Calanon's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Oh man, now that's truly a hodgepodge of the 90th anniversary haha! also, I definitely agree with this. The 2016 line was what got me back to buying Bionicle and CCBS in general (for a few years). I find it better and also an upgrade to 2015 in general. It was one of those lines where almost all of the characters looked good. But also yeah, the only thing that peeved me was that it really could've been marketed better and have a better storyline. Would've been really nice to see a Bionicle 2017. 2015 for me was also pretty good except the Lord of Skull Spiders was quite terrible and while the Skeletons were cool, they could've been much better. The Toa were definitely equal to their 2016 counterpart. I would've probably jumped in back then but at that time, I was too focused on Ninjago. -

I see, thanks for showing it! Seems like if that's the case, they're pulling the whole dual chapters in one season format like SotFS again this time only slightly different where The Island is the pilot special of season 14 and the summer wave will cover the rest (since it's mentioned over there that it's going to air in June). Can't say I'm not slightly disappointed that The Island is not a full fledged season since with the case of DotD and especially MotO, those could've benefitted from longer runtimes. Plus the plot sounds quite season worthy too. However. the 2011 pilot managed to pull off being quite exciting for a 40-ish minutes runtime. So yeah, I'm still definitely looking forward to this whatever the case this may turn out. -

Oh man, the plot definitely sounds really exciting and just saw the trailer too. The keepers looked even better there (and dare I say better than their minifigure counterpart which already looked so good) with the whole bizarre glowing purple and lightning-ish textures. Also I'm really intrigued with the mystical creature and it's connection with season 15. Looking forward to all this! However..... Just curious, where do you find this info from? Because if The Island is a special like DotD, then season 15 would be 14 instead. And the other leak sources still treats it as a season. -

Hey...for some reason, that didn't cross my mind. Having the remade Rahi sets would certainly be very interesting and cool! I can get behind that. Hmm....you brought out a good point. Perhaps aside from being a customer survey on the themes, the specific splitting of theme could also be a gauging on what sets to remake too. If Lego really wanted to focus on the themes, they do have promotional posters at their disposal to use but ultimately, they didn't use those. And seeing Adventurers' entry is just focused on the Desert subtheme, if we go with the theory above, it could probably mean that Lego doesn't really see Jungle, Dino Island and Orient Expedition as viable yet. Even the 18+ Haunted House's Adventurer's references were mostly focused on the Desert Subtheme. -

More pictures of the quadcopter has been revealed. I didn't expect the cockpit to be detachable. With everything detached, it now really feels like full-fledged drone haha. Getting a closer look at the minifigures, the spider faction looks even cooler there. I quite find difference with both 2020 and 2021 Spider Queen minifigures to be interesting, with the former being mystical while the latter leans on the technological aspect. But I guess that it to be expected since the Arachnoid base certainly sounds techy. Definitely nothing wrong with that. Tech-upped Red Son just looks alright. And as for the good guys, 2021 Mei is actually looking pretty good there, definitely digging it. And 2021 MK is also a dope variation in his style of clothing. -

Yeah, I gotta say too, was already impressed with the first two minifigures. But damn, the next four look really good! Definitely getting more and even more intrigued with this theme now. That's a good question. It seems to me that Vidiyo could be a joint brainchild of both LEGO and Universal, something like Mixels and Cartoon Network. That does sound original enough for me. So yeah depending on this and how sets turn out, I might actually add this to the list of original themes I'm planning to get. Haha! That's a good one! Edit - Holy smokes, it actually happened haha! -

Been listening to SotFS (S11) portion of the 10th anniversary musical journey and wow! I was quite surprised to find it really good, especially with the Ice Chapter portion. Due to the season's mediocrity, back then I just find the music alright. But just listening to the whole package by themselves and imagining being without any knowledge of the season, you'd think there's something great and exciting happening with the season. This just made me wish again that the season be written in a better way. As had it been the case, both the story and the music could've strongly complemented each other!- 4,591 replies

Lego Ideas 90th Anniversary Fan Vote
JJ Tong (zfogshooterz) replied to Calanon's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Darn, it doesn't look good for Adventurers. And also a complete R.I.P for Time Cruisers and Spyrius. Now at some point after, I kinda wished I voted for them too instead of Bionicle. (As at that point, I couldn't really decide, so I landed on the latter.) But this definitely confirms that my votes for them won't do diddly-squat, unfortunately. Yeah, I have to agree that this method of the poll is quite terrible. It's basically a glorified customer survey. And I also agree that it would be much better if the anniversary was a lineup. A set would be like for example, the Classic Castle but packed to the brim with references and stuffs of the various castle themes from the 80s and 90s. Same with Space and pirates too. Heck, even bringing in the Time Cruisers to advertise the line since it's a celebration of time and history would be really awesome. It's one thing to make one anniversary set based on one theme. But splitting up the sub-themes just doesn't seem right. It's indeed too divisive. I would've been more comfortable with my votes (and not being fickle-minded) plus being quite excited on the prospect of checking out what's going to turn out of this. if the entries were much more solidly grouped. Personally, LEGO will have to make that figure really awesome enough to blow my mind for it to be worth it. Right now, except for a small twinge of hope, I don't have any faith that the figure would be good after seeing that Ideas Great Spirit Robot which is extremely not my cup of tea. A remake of the Toa Mata isn't appealing to me either. But seeing it as an 18+ plus set, there's also a possibility that the set could be busts like those in Star Wars (Which is so not what I'm looking for in Bionicle). Or various trinkets such as the Nuva Cubes. (That does sound really cool to me, however, it isn't something I'd shelve out my money for.) It's also partly based on said small twinge of hope that I voted for it. But seeing as how an 18+ set goes, I'm staring to see that's just wishful thinking and probably shouldn't have voted for it. If I'm proven wrong and got pleasantly surprised instead that would be great but we'll see. -

The Island sets of Ninjago are planned to be released in march but they've already been revealed, so yeah it's definitely isn't a hard rule indeed. Since Vidiyo is going to be revealed on the 26th, that's a day I'm looking forward to now. Thankfully, I'm already intrigued and curious with Vidiyo, so that juice is good enough for me for that day. Monkie Kid would a nice bonus to make the day better if it get revealed too. -

Definitely same here too. Out of all the 80s - 90s space themes, UFO is also by far my favorite. Pretty much what got me started into discovering a lot of pre-2000s castle and space themes. -

Voted for two themes - Adventurers - Aside from slightly being a sucker for Egyptian themed stuffs, it's specifically more on me really liking Pharaoh Hotep. He looks to be a really dark and cool villain for that time so it would be real nice to have a modern version of the minifigure. Even better, would be really nice too to have a darker reimagining of a build surrounding the pharaoh. It's unlikely, but one can dream. And... Bionicle - Because why not. To be honest, an 18+ Bionicle set has never appealed to me. What drew me to the theme back then was the figures and the waves of new stuffs so this alley is not my cup of tea. But hey, there's always the possibility that I might be pleasantly surprised. Too bad there wasn't UFO anywhere, I would've voted the heck out of that! -
LEGO Monkie Kid 2021
JJ Tong (zfogshooterz) replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Oh yeah, I had forgotten about Macaque, would definitely be real nice to have him included. Dark versions of Monkie Kid/Monkey King's stuffs will always be welcomed by me - If it actually happens, that is. The concept is certainly strong there. After taking a closer look at the quadcopter (was distracted by the spider themed minifigures the whole time), I actually am starting to like it much more now, It isn't your typical jet set or helicopter (boy, we already have too many of those from various themes). And it just dawned on me that the quadcopter is kinda based on a delivery drone with the containers as "packages". So yeah, definitely funky indeed. Also, for some reason, I'm really digging that Mei-themed arcade machine. A really nice touch. Assuming the Arachnoid Base is the biggest set of the wave (along with the faction's inclusion in another set) which would indicate the Spider Queen being the major antagonist for this wave, I'd be surprised if the White Bone Spirit is included in the wave considering the final arc and cliffhanger of the season which suggests that there's really something big going on with the Spirit. Most likely indeed they're saving it for a dedicated future wave. Though I guess it is possible for the new host as a minifigure to appear as a cameo in this upcoming wave. -

Oh man, that sounds really fun haha! I'm slightly curious on how Red Son's jets going to turn out as the bull faction doesn't have a fully-fledged flying vehicle. As for the White Dragon Horse Jet, yeah, I don't find myself caring for it. Hopefully the other three unnamed sets have more variety in them such as more stuffs for the Gold and Silver Horned Demons. As much as I dig the bull faction, I really hope they don't take up all the spotlight there. Would be real nice to have more new villains as Journey to the West does have a nice variety of antagonists to reimagine. The Arachnoid Base definitely sounds like a good start. -

Whoa, I did not expect the Arachnoid Base. I was already mind-blown by how awesome the spider-themed minifigures are, so now I'm pretty excited to check how that base set is going to be.
