LEGO Star Wars 2018 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!

That series will likely be unwatchable for me but the design and costumes look alright - excited for a potential green nikto minifigure - I just hope it’s not blindingly bright green! That old-school character might provide a good face for a Saw Gerrera custom as well!?! RO and Solo are fantastic films imo, as was TFA - would love some more sets from these films. However the abomination of TLJ has temporarily killed my enjoyment of the latter sadly - hopefully episode 9 will pull it back together! :/ Some close up pics on Flickr of the Merrick helmet - lovely stuff... and a head with a tan tache - splendid! :) -
Not the displayable model I hoped for, but it is a kids toy at the end of the day, and is kinda what you’d expect a playset to be. Would’ve loved it to have resembled the big, circular, covered Lego Ideas MOC, but that would’ve put it way past any Christmas list affordability. Maybe a future UCS Cloud City will be more in line with that to appease the AFOL’s!? ?? Minifigures are a mixed bag. Han is perfect. Luke fantastic. Lando decent. I like the Ugnaught. Leia’s hair is disappointing - hopefully Lego’s holding back the mould for a pending Depa Billaba exclusive!?! Would’ve loved some noticeable development on Lobot’s headpiece. Pleased to have Cloud Car Pilot but seriously lacking in detail imo - some light yellow boots and shoulder printing would’ve looked excellent. Bespin guards a disappointment - was expecting red printing on the cuffs, and hoping for some dual-moulds, especially now the Boomerang legs are in production. Contrary to my expectations the Slave I is fantastic - one of the main things promoting a purchase tbh. Cloud Car’s good but may have been better in dark orange. Both vehicles would’ve been better as stand alone system sets, with micro versions in this set imo. Best: Han’s legs Worst: Landing platform Overall: Underwhelming Will possibly buy if/when discounted and use as base to modify.

Well there’s an Imperial cargo shuttle in the advent calendar (which is sometimes and indication of upcoming sets), so you never know...
-
They are fantastic - what do you “predict” they’ll offer up in the future?

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here

Hasbro obviously have a long-held master license with Lucasfilm to produce Star Wars figurines. I sometimes wonder whether that has any influence on the quality (detailing) or number of figures per set? As a collector of minifigs primarily, I base my “value” of a set on the number and/or quality of the minifigs. As a result, must be said I’m buying fewer and fewer sets lately. Certainly wish they’d bulk up the minifig count! -
Wow - that’s really good - still haven’t managed to wrangle my two-tubes together - never thought of using the ten numb head - it looks great!

Personally I’ve put aside this: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=3626cpb1006&idColor=90#T=C&C=90 ...or: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=3626cpb1676&name=Minifig, Head Female with Black Eyebrows, Eyelashes, Peach Lips Pattern (SW Kordi) - Stud Recessed&category=[Minifig, Head]#T=C&C=28 ..and this: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?id=106267#T=S&C=68&O={"color":68,"iconly":0} ...or: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=92260&name=Minifig, Hair Female Braids Pulled Back to Bun, Holes on Top and Back&category=[Mini Doll, Hair]#T=C Will decide when I get hold of the figure...

Firestar also stock the fur-collared (Cape Madness) capes which should be perfect for Enfys Nest. The dark brown currently out of stock but awaiting a re-stock I believe. That along with some tan BrickForge vambraces (also from Firestar) should have Enfys looking pretty pukka! I’ve considered this myself, for example I’m desperate for some side leg printing on my Greedo, as well as a million other body parts, and I’d be keen if it was viable - others on this thread probably better informed to advise, but I imagine you’d need to supply parts and then it’s just a matter of time and manpower, and of course everything has its price right!?!
-
Page 39 and 48 of this thread offer some good alternatives for Juno....
-
I don’t think you’d want to see a stud on top of the head, but could have two small indents on the sides to enable a helmet to clip on in the same way visors and goggles connect to helmets. That said I can’t imagine Lego would ever do this - if Ello Asty was produced would likely be a single head mould.
-
Definately - such a cool looking species - would love this head mould - and a new resistance helmet mould for the likes of Ello Asty!
-
Ah right, thanks man. If it’s as good as RO we’re in for a treat! :)
-
Yes and yes, and of course Satine (as a Dutches ideally). A Nightsisters battlepack would be cool as well!

I’m yet to watch the final series of TCW, so spoilers to a minimum if possible, but did the series end with some unanswered questions then? I assumed it would flow fairly seemlessly into ROTS... Excited for the new series - so many characters from TCW not represented by Lego - Oppo Rancisis, Baron Papanoida, Robonino, Senate Guard, Mandalorian Royal Guard, Zygerrians etc etc - there’s so many great costumes and alien species - I hope Lego spoils us!!!... and likewise I hope they don’t revert back to the cartoony goggley eyed faces - not a fan of those...

Any different alien species or head mould is a huge plus for me but I totally see where you’re coming from on this. I think the figure is based off the Rebels animation of an ugnaught which might explain why it looks cartoonish. Must admit when I heard of a new ugnaught leak from CC, I was hoping for a different mould. I’m happy with a unique print and the figure in general, but hopefully in the future they’ll release a more movie accurate mould. -
An Ubese group inspired by that picture is very high up my ‘to do’ list - I’d planned on using a Harely Quinn or Tonto head, but this Voldemort is perfect, great call man!! Unless you’re a purist, Firestar / Cape Madness do a fur collared dark brown cape, which I’ve earmarked for Enfys Nest

The Donald Duck legs right? I’ve wavered between them and the CMF Soccer Player for my own custom CC Pilot, but neither are perfect - the bright light orange too strong for me. Bright light yellow details with some orange on the helmet and (alas) the shoulders against the white would’ve been a lovely colour palette imo. The AT-DP legs are a good shout tho, and failing that I’m sure we’ll see some white and yellow dual-moulds at some point. Anyway one for the ‘Updating’ thread perhaps... Looking forward to some more leaks from the CC Set! -

Perhaps not printing necessarily but I was really hoping for some yellow boots - perhaps white and bright light yellow dual-moulds, with some bright light yellow hands to match, would’ve looked so much better imo. I do like the figure and I’m excited to see it, but relative to other lisenced themes, there often seems to be an aversion to details on SW figs (especially below the knee!), which is a bit baffling and frustrating. Should be a relatively easy one to update tho still... -

Bit disappointed with the Cloud Car Pilot tbh - very tight with the printing yet again :::sigh::: -
I’m always excited by any new moulds that can offer more variety to figs, and these legs are no exception. However I can’t think of all that many SW characters that’ll benefit from these - main ones that spring to mind: Padme (TPM), Boba Fett (TCW) and Ezra...??? Some more obscure/unrealeased characters like Zuckuss, Hrchek Kal Fas, Rukh, possibly a Roonan character. That’s all I can think of. Possibly Leia as she’s pretty short but it might just make her look childlike. Still great to have more variety, hopefully one day they’ll release some legs an extra stud in length and even some tiny 2 stud high legs - both of which would benefit a great many characters imo... Here here - they’re brilliant eh!! :))
-
Also eagerly awaiting my Firestar order. I got the Jaina Solo figure last week and the detail and printing on the helmet (and the rest of the figure) is fantastic! I’m sure these helmets will be of equal quality. Intrigued as to whether you’ll roll with the olive Red Leader or opt for the ochre? I think the re-painted one looks excellent I must say...

I think Rio must have shaved last minute to stop his beard coming through the bottom of the Mudtrooper helmet ;) Would take a lot to ruin this figure for me - two new and wonderful moulds on one figure! :) -

Rio is brilliant - love the arms. Nice of him to have a shave for the film as well! Val, Range and Gunner all excellent. I like the enforcers but shame they don’t have helmets really. Qi-Ra not quite doing it for me, which is saying a lot as I’m kinda obsessed with her after the film ;) -
One of those images has been cropped from a larger image - google ‘rebel pilots rogue one’ - although in the uncropped image he’s holding the Green Seven helmet, so we’re back to square one again haha The Jansony helmet still seems most obvious for Ralo imo... I use the Alamut head
-
With the exception of Chaff Korus, all those other helmets have subtle details/colours around the indents. The only helmets with solidly plain white sides are the two with the lone blue and red starbird - now if you want to be reallly beady eyed in terms of props used for RO etc - the dirt on these two helmets is a different colour (tan and black respectively), so I’m happy that the helmet he’s holding is the blue one. Actually that’s just the way the picture has been cropped - the person holding the ‘Biggs’ helmet is Wion Dillems - which in itself is confusing as he’s shown to have the same (Wes Janson-esque) helmet as Puck Naeco. BUT the visual guide also states that he stepped in for Red Twelve (Puck) at Scarif, so that can explain the discrepancy I suppose.
