Ok, I think it's time to give these two lovely figures the light they deserve in the Community forum, too

You can find a bunch of templates (minifigs' parts, shields and armours, ...) in the Templates Index, and more useful tools in the Minifig Customisation Index and Guidelines Topic. I'm sure you'll find those very useful

Sorry if this is on here already!
LuxorV replied to NightBat's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I think this topic has already been discussed marginally in other threads, but I see no harm in one dedicated to it right now. I think the real problem is the cost itself. Printing directly on the minifigs' torso is expencive and the best way to reduce costs would be to print a lot and sell them (like Arealight does). If you were to print many different designs in single copy, the price would indeed rise. You could try contacting some people who print on pins and flyers (here is a link to an Italian site I found, just to have an idea of the prices). But I'm not sure they can work with LEGO pieces and how careful the print would be . -
Of course, Paulie. Here you go with the dark tan one

This is a nice ship with a beautiful design. Thanks for sharing it and crediting the original designer. P.S. - Could you please reduce the pics size to 800 pixels maximum, as by our Guidelines? Thank you.

Ops, how can I have missed this?!? Happy Birthday Dragonator, Alice, Lordofdragonss! I hope your day was filled with love, cake and rattling present boxes

That is because it's an attachment, and you have reached the space limit for those. You may try using external file hosting sites like Brickshelf, Flickr, MOCpages and the like Anyway, I'll look into those decals soon. EDIT - here we go: France (?) - 3 Fleur de Lis England - 3 Lions Egypt - 3 Crescent Moons Enjoy!

Here you have the two versions, blue and dark blue. I made the other side of the door, too.

My Customization Philosophy
LuxorV replied to Saber Scorpion's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Hey, I had a feeling you already had a profile here, but forgot to check... Let me konw if you find the info of the other account and want to get back to that (best option). Then you must stop using this new one. Else, just keep using this and do not use the other anymore from now on. This is not our normal politic about double accounts, but I think we can make an exception given the long time since you last used the old account. -

My Customization Philosophy
LuxorV replied to Saber Scorpion's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
In my mind, a purist only uses official, un-modified LEGO parts. Adding a removable decal or using a custom produced LEGO compatible item can be seen, as Saber Scorpion says, as 'Liberal Purist': as long as you do not irreversibly mod a piece that is. All that goes beyond this (from using 'glued' decals to cutting and glue-ing pieces) is non-purist. I do not contemplate further degrees in this category, since the mere act of using an irreversible technique is enough to identify it, imo. Btw, I do not add any 'moral' meaning to these categories, as somebody could also say a purist is not bold enough to try more complex techniques, and the discussion could rage on forever . On a side note, just to be complete, I see those who make custom sculpey parts (but do not glue them to minifigs) as 'Liberal Purists' too. -
My Customization Philosophy
LuxorV replied to Saber Scorpion's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Hi Saber Scorpion, and welcome to Eurobricks! Thanks for sharing your views on the debated questions of customisation modes. I must admit I'm one of the Purists out here (sometimes boredering on the 'Liberal Purist' side, using custom removable decals and BA and BF items), and I don't think I'll change in the near future. On the other hand, I can appreciate and enjoy the efforts and results of more... will we say active? customisers like you. The nice thing with LEGO in general and customisation is that you do not have to follow any specific rules when creating your models and figs, so it's more than natural to have different views and different approaches to our common hobby Btw, I'll move this thread to the Minifig Customisation Workshop, where this discussion can find better aim. -
Nice job on this tiny castle, Asilla. There must be fierce fights in that area, and the guard (I remember reading he's your only minifig for now, right?) has to make turns even though he's lost one arm! Poor fellow

As far as I know, Thrash normally uses decals.

The Hitchhicker's Guide To The Galaxy
LuxorV replied to LuxorV's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Thanks for the positive feedback everybody Yes, I knew you'd be thrilled by these; and I also made them as a sort of legacy after my recent title change away from the Guide. I'll have to re-fresh my memory of the book before I can start thinking of an electric monk fig, but that's definetly an intereting challege Here you go This is one of my favoutite minifigs of all times, btw. -
I think a pair of scissors will do the trick in this case . At least that's what I used for cutting these, and I think they came out quite well.

The Index topic has been up-dated, with the addition of most the recent decals and a couple of new tools by def:

The Hitchhicker's Guide To The Galaxy
LuxorV replied to LuxorV's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Thanks for the comment, Sandy. I never found or notice any description in the books where Ford was said to be black-skinned, so I stick to my idea. Indeed, I was quite surprised to see Mos Def laying this role in the film. For Zaphod's arms, I followed Nolnet's technique, which has been well described by Sorrow in this thread -
You know, I was planning on making a similar MOC If I may give you advice, you could try using one of these parts (if you have it ) for the canopy, to have a lighter and more 'realistic' look.

Please allow the Staff some time to notice your message and act. If you still do not get any reply, try contacting another Staff member. You know, we are usually very busy drinking working on so many details that we may loose sight of some

I think most everybody knows about this series of books by Douglas Adams, the radio and shows and the recent film, so I'll waste no time in introducing it further. Let's start with the characters: for each one I'll provide the name, evental alias, and a brief piece of description from the books. Arthur Dent - "Disappointment crept into Arthur's face and snuggled down into its accustomed place." (Life, the Universe, and Everything, Chapter 33; by D. Adams) (I think this face from the Battle of Alamut set is very effective for Arthur's usual expression) Ford Prefect - "He had made one careless blunder though, because he had skimped a bit on his preparatory research. The information he had gathered had led him to choose the name Ford Prefect as being nicely inconspicuous." (The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Chapter 1; by D. Adams) (not much to add here, apart for the fact that I now notice I forgot to give him his bag with the towel inside ) Zaphod Beeblebrox - "Zaphod Beeblebrox, adventurer, ex-hippy, good timer, (crook? quite possibly), manic self-publicist, terribly bad at personal relationships, often thought to be completely out to lunch." (The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Chapter 4; by D. Adams) (the two heads techniques is by Nolnet on Flickr - the orange pieces represent the orange skarf, symbol of the President of the Galaxy) Trillian (Tricia McMillian) - "She was slim, darkish, humanoid, with long waves of black hair, a full mouth, an odd little nob of a nose and ridiculously brown eyes." (The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Chapter 4; by D. Adams) (ok, the eyes are blue, but that's all TLG's fault: if they made a cute flesh face with brown eyes I'd have used it!) Marvin (the Paranoid Android) - "In the corner, the robot's head swung up sharply, but then wobbled about imperceptibly. It pulled itself up to its feet as if it was about five pounds heavier that it actually was, and made what an outside observer would have thought was a heroic effort to cross the room. It stopped in front of Trillian and seemed to stare through her left shoulder. (The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Chapter 11; by D. Adams) (to keep in line with tradition, I used the standard white Exploriens robot for Marvin) We end with a group shot: Hope you like them and comment and critics are welcome. On a side note, from Marvin's alias comes the title of a famous song by Radiohead.

What size will it be for, and do you want it in blue or dark blue? As soon as you give me these info, I'll try it.

Have Action Themes Become Extreme?
LuxorV replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Quite simply put, LEGO has to stay on the market, both media and actual vehicles' ones. With all the recent Live-action films and ever-more-powerful racing cars, the normal kid expects a lot in terms of aggressive design and cool features from the entertainment products. As for having weapons mounted on the vehicles, after Speed Racer and Death Race (don't let you be fooled by the R rating; we all know kids get to see this stuff quite easily nowadays) films, what do you think kids will want? If you want to see an excalation, see it in the whole concept of action. What once was almost sci-fi (a car turning into a boat, a boat tutning into a sub, a flying car) is now very real (in those three examples). All that said, I'd really like to see old Outback sets in stores once again
