LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
Hollander replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I don't believe so. Just compare the bley at the front with the stud (astromech droid) on top. The ''astromech droid'' is clearly more shiny. -
I've received a lego large order a while ago, including two larger sets and a couple of smaller ones, including battlepacks, and even though it took me almost the whole day to build it, I still couldn't refuse to build it all in once. The only break was dinner. If I would have a couple of SW sets from '99 or 2000, I probably would not open them, but keep it as collector items. Neither I would sell them though, I buy lego because I like LOVE it, and not to make money out of unopened sets.

As I'm more and more into the OT, some purchases can't be stopped. I decided to only get my hands on a minimum om CW sets, and only if they appeal to me highly. Anyway, I bought myself the latest Millenium Falcon as a present for ''Sinterklaas'', a Dutch national feast.

[LDD MOCs] Brickdoctor's 2011 Star Wars Advent Calendar
Hollander replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I'll certainly keep my eyes on this one. Creating all the Star Wars advent calender models in larger, and better versions, is a really neat idea. What I like about this project of yours, is that you don't have any choice in the vehicles, figures or structures you have to make, which forces you to come up with new ideas and building techniques - especially with the 1-day deadline. Your first build; the Radiant IV is great. Not too complicated, which is obvious, but you still managed to make it accurate. It will be really great to see more of the vehicles in this, what I assume, is midi-scale. Especially the Y- and A-wing. Can't wait for those two. Your attempt on the minifigures will be interesting too; are you going for moodland-scale? Oh well, guess I'll just have to wait to see it. That's indeed a part of christmas; waiting for your presents (in this case LDD models) and not knowing what it's going to be... (or HOW it's going to be, to be more precise) -
My thought. Although I can't change the showcased model anymore, I can change the current file. I think a minifigure pilot would look way to small however, and make this look even more odd. A brickbuilt pilot would be a solution, but that would be really hard to create if you ask me. Too hard actually, especially in LDD. Maybe we can M<0><0<DSWIM for a solution...?

The upper part of the cockpit is a different sort of white due to the fact that it is a transparant piece with print.

The point is that TLG has to improve the detail on it's minifigs if they want to keep selling their product in the record numbers they currently do. Which is apart from the fact that a significant amount of the Star Wars community here, doesn't like this overprint at all. Including me. However, I can imagine that kids will prefer the detailed figures, as they want it to be as real as in the television series. But, that doesn't mean we have to like those new figures. I've had Star Wars sets from the beginning, when the first ones were released, and if the detail on them would be the same today, I wouldn't mind. Absolutely, I love the somewhat more detailed figures, but the amount of detailing we've seen this year is more than enough for me. Except from the introduce of the flesh tone though.

My favorite(s)? Both R5-D8 and the Death Star Trooper. Those two stand out the most if you ask me, and as I'm not much of an CW fan, the choice isn't that hard.

We do take it easy, we just don't like people spamming and adding immature posts. There are enough forums aimed at lego fans of all sort, whether they fancy Star Wars or Lego City. If some folks have the need to post nonsense all the way, they have that ability on tens of other websites, we just don't want them to do it here. Besides that, even though this is an AFOL forum, anyone younger than eighteen acting mature is welcome as far as I know. It's not like any adults being spammers are tolerated because of their age.

What to buy for X-Mas? Set 7957 - Sith Nightspeeder!
Hollander replied to Legostein's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I spotted this on the blog at first, and just scrolled along it. When I went back to check this creation out, I was surprised this was all made of only one set! This is absolutely excellent work, you never failed me to amaze me with both your alternate- or mini/micro builds. I strongly recommend you to keep those builds coming, I think I can speak for all of us if I say we love your creations. -
I can confirm that. Whether you're active on a lego forum or a political debate website, there always seem to be people spamming and babble nonsens - both 10-year olds as employed adults. The EB staff has clearly showed they know how to deal with this kind, the result is a helpful and interesting forum; without the requirement to read through al the nonsense. Kudos for that, EB administration.

Hum... sure the black astromech droid is the same one as in 10188? According to BL, there are two different black astromech droids. R2-D5 and R2-Q5. R2-D5 on the left, R2-Q5 on the right. They have different heads.

Nice one LOTF! But are you sure she has to stand outside of the club, instead of dancing inside it? Yours is great too Oky! Reminds me of Star Wars: Battlefront, where the rebels on tauntaun's always rush onto the empire's encampment, being ''bantha fodder'' for the AT-AT's turbolasers... Anyway, I can tell you that your funnies almost make me laugh (yes, real laughing) every single time.
-
Correct. I first tried a circular tube without the technic holes in the sides, but after I encountered that the 2x2 plate with circular tube (don't know the name either ), I decided to go for the circular tube with technic holes in it, even though those holes would be visible on the sides, which makes an less accurate A-wing. That's another advantage of using LDD; you can just inspect all the lists of pieces till you find the one you need.
-
You don't mean Star Wars: Battlefront, right?
-
Great work again! The scene has a great sphere, almost movie like. I really like the machinery at the left, and the droid at the right being teared apart. Ps; nice collection of protocol droids.

LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
Hollander replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
It was about time they introduced the R5 units. Even when your Star Wars collection is modest, you'll probably have a bag full of R2-D2's. -
Thanks Churchill. The only inaccurate part of the stabilizers is that they should bend a little inward, as can be seen here. I feel more and more like I should make this in real, tomorrow I have some money again, and with access to Bricklink... who knows that the future will bring us...
-
Looking good so far! But before I'm going to give criticism or more compliments, I would like to see some more close-ups, especially of the tracks. Can you do that for us?
-
Pretty nice. I think the exterior could use some work though, like a litte greebles or something. However, the fact that this ship has an large interior and a cool color scheme, makes this a neat ship. Well done.
-
Very original. Any plans on making more of those logo's?
-
Thanks Doc. What I found hard about this build, was to let the pilons connect to the ''hood'' of the A-wing (the dark gray part). Making a very curved vehicle all smooth with a minimum of gaps is hard in real, but particular in LDD. Not to mention that a lot of connections require illegal building manners, which are not available in LDD.

[MOC] Luke VS The Rancor (Micro-Mood Scale)
Hollander replied to M<0><0<DSWIM's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The tail is certainly improved, looks way more natural this way. You should also make a Moodland King Kong, and let it battle with the Micro-Mood Scale Rancor. -
I use to laugh about a lot of my own jokes.. But you're right, the photocopies complete the joke. But also the image of Leia getting drunk and stuff..
-
Haha, those ewoks made me seriously laugh. And to think that I am usually someone who hates those little furballs..
