Technic 2017 Set Discussion
Globemaster8 replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Whilst I like 42069, if I was to get the set it would probably be for the pieces rather than the functions. They're good solid functions, but to me they don't grab me from an engineering point of view (apart from the doors). Nevertheless I still think it's a good set and looks pretty cool. -
YES! That's a must!

@Sariel nice! I look forward to reading the reviews! -
Old British cars like the Aston Martin DB5, Morgan and Austin Healey just to name a few would be perfect Lego models.

Just had a proper look at the rumoured sets list, and the only set that grabs me is Yodas Hut. The rest seem a bit meh. -

It would be good to have a holdo mini figure. It would probably go well with that set. -
The detail in the set is amazing, it would go perfectly with the modular theme! Oh, not to mention the convertible car!!! Top job!

That's a beautiful shade of blue, and I love the tyres! That would be an awesome display piece, with all of the amazing curves. There would also be some amazing techniques used to achieve its shape.

The Azure worked really well on the Maersk Triple E, but only because that's the exact colour of the top half of the hull. On Lego original sets, it just depends on the shape of the model. Like some cars look good in white and others don't. I get that some fans will be annoyed that they will end up with loads of different coloured pieces, especially when they're building a MOC. That being said, Lego do have to appeal to a younger audience to get them into the technic range (as some are appropriate for younger builders). -
I would like to see another UCS Imperial Shuttle, but one with a detailed interior. In the last one they made in either 2010 or 2011 (I don't know when exactly it was released) it only had a cockpit and the inside was used to accommodate the gearing for the wings and he boarding ramp was also missed out. They could use various mini figures to go with the set. It could be the scene from when he Emperor visits the Death Star II or a UCS version of the Tydirium.

A set with Tusken Raiders and Jawas would be great, they'd go well especially if someone did a MOC of Mos Eisley spaceport! (Something I'd love to do but don't have the parts). -

@SCREDEYE agreed. Let's put an end to this bickering, there's no reason for it. -

Would be quite nice if it does have the old diff, just adds to a more variated piece count if you ask me. -
I love the techniques used in both of those buildings. The windows in both sets are done really well, especially in the first one!

@allanp you could be right. If I was to get this set, I would certainly wait to see if there's a drop in price. -

Even though I'm not interested in getting any of the Force Awakens or Rogue One sets, the mini figures in them are really cool and really well detailed. Love the detailing on the Scarif Stormtrooper. -

@Aventador2004 yeah I think your right. That being said, 42069 is set at a decent price, but no bargain. -

Despite the fact that the engine in the light aircraft isn't in the correct configuration, it's a nice feature to see as it's something of a rarity on technic aircraft sets (apart from the fire plane from a few years ago). -

I think 42069 is a reasonable price, considering the piece count. I wish it had power functions though, which would have made it even better value for money and making the functions more interesting. That just shows how good a value a set the Claas was!
